  1. Interesting. I've never found mames on screen settings menu to be complicated at all. I've always been able to map my controls quickly. That is, for regular type joystick and buttom games.
  2. I wish the retroacheivements people could strike up a deal with the major emulators to have their code be included in official releases. The hi-score issue is why I have stayed with standalone MAME. I got a hiscore.dat and then enabled it in the gui (still old mameuifx) and it works great.
  3. i think there might be theme specific settings for the views that you need to have. or putting priority on the background video maybe? The theme authors usually put which settings they designed the theme with up on their download page. That might help.
  4. i had pretty good luck with all of my media that I already had before I installed launchbox for the very first time. It was all named very similar to the launchbox DB game names so launchbox applied the correct images for most of my games. But even if it is a bit slow, it's pretty nice to have it all being taken care of from within the program.
  5. I don't think there will ever truly be a way to get this type of thing to work until windows let's you set up usb ports to a controller and lock it in. I have so many original controllers plugged in and mapped, I don't dare unplug anything or add a wireless thing because I'm so afraid it will bump something around.
  6. Yeah, as much as free is the most amazing thing ever, you gotta know when to be ok with supporting projects with monetary contributions. Especially THE best front end ever fucking made. I rest my case.
  7. It's like working on a car. Sometimes the smallest oversight can ruin the entire damn thing lol.
  8. Yeah you gotta get the one that is just a zip file. And put it in an emulators folder, or something else, outside of that appdata place. I just have an emulators folder I put in the launchbox root directory for easy access since I'm in there all the time.
  9. Have you put the path to the rom files into that platform in launchbox? Or is launchbox still looking in the default location "games"? Or does that matter? I forget if it does. But I remember setting launchbox to look in a different folder than it's "games" folders for some of my roms for certain platforms.
  10. I add my steam games by just finding the path to the .exe in the details window thing after you click add. I don't see why that wouldn't work?
  11. No mednafen IS the emulator, and it covers those systems I listed. Should work with launchbox right away.
  12. Could you show an example of that in action?
  13. The only con I can think of is that it doesnt have overlay options like retroarch, and only one basic crt shader that is ok. I use it for nes, snes, genesis, sega cd, psx, virtual boy, and sega saturn. So that takes care of quite a bit. I also use it with rocketlauncher so I still have bezels (overlays) applied to it through that program, so the look still matches anything I have with retroarch. I can see how if you didn't want to learn how to apply a bezel to mednafen via rocketlauncher but you have them on in retroarch, that it might be annoying. But if you dont care about that then I think it might be a great solution.
  14. Jeez, retroarch needs to see things better. I have problems sometimes with it not letting me map things for certain controllers, but like you, in standalone emulators it is detected right away when a button is pressed. That's why I still mainly use mednafen, on the screen, on-the-fly controller re-mapping and it just works.
  15. Yeah and don't mess around with ending it with task manager ever again on the new clean install. Close it properly from the get go and see if that helps anything.
  16. I know rocketlauncher can be used with multiple front ends, but I'm not sure that a front end itself can successfully interact with another front end. Would be interesting to hear other's thoughts on this.
  17. I've had the best time by using the mayflash dolphin bar, and actual wiimotes. It's great.
  18. Wasn't this something that was considered for the poll? If not, it should be. Would be cool to have just a little list box somewhere Also available on the following platforms: Super Nintendo Entertainment system Sega Genesis etc.
  19. Wow. looks like a game changer.
  20. My sentiments exactly. Without piracy there is no preservation. Period. Companies ultimately do not care one bit about history. Well maybe one bit,....but it's not really enough to adequately preserve a cultural phenomenon.
  21. They are saying that for some people it might be as offensive as that, given their immense distaste for it. I haven't even noticed it. Given the amazing quality of the program I personally don't give a crap about it, even with my own personal convictions. Launchbox is too good of a program to even worry about this very minute gripe.
  22. It's only a few games, so it's not the end of the world, just got my hopes up lol. Coincidentally Super Clash bros. recognized my mayflash gamecube adapter and assigned each one to the players, so that was cool!
  23. Yup i did all of that, and edited the .ini Nothing changed on those games. Oh well.
  24. I tried devreorder, but it didn't do anything. I noticed in the notes it was meant for older games that need that,...but what about newer games that don't understand where your xbox360 controllers are plugged into, because you have so many other controllers plugged in as well? Ex. mother russia bleeds will not notice i have those, even with devreorder, and broforce things my first two controllers are from my gamecube controller mayflash adapter.
  25. What I loved most about that page, is that when I clicked the home link,...it took be back to a 1990s webpage.
