It's a pretty neat idea, I really like having the platform be those banners, but not sure if I'd like the games being those banners, especially with the repeated controller on ever image. Great work though!

Well I wasn't aware it was open, so sorry lol. I thought they were holding their methods close, hence the post on their forums a long time ago by Jason asking if there were ways in which they could collaborate. That made me think it was tightly wrapped up. Yeah sure it boils down to that, but I wouldn't say that means re-invent the wheel, the last two components (the only reason most people even have to still use RL) of complete front end domination are on the horizon, and already exist.
-
Yeah I'm sure there are some that are difficult to get to, but the most common and popular ones seem to have save slots that are not that evasive. I have all my systems covered through using mame, retroarch, dolphin, and mednafen. All those key presses were easy to set up except I think dolphin was too hard to get to the next slot. it's too bad the RL people won't just partner up so this, and key mapping can be done and over with. Then as far as I'm concerned, front end domination will have had occured.

I didn't really understand most of your essay. All the pause savestate menu really has to do is send key presses to the emulator to save or load the state. The rest is up to the emulator to catalog for itself. For example, send 1, then f5, and that will save. Send 1 and then f7, and that will load (slot 1 that is). am I missing something?
-
Sure I get that. Baby steps I suppose. People who have never been able to do anything regarding save states will surely be excited, but then again might also just be satisfied with one single option out of ignorance.
-
Unless you forgot that 6 months ago you saved in that slot and then hit save again and only remembered after the fact that damn, I just saved over my first one. This happened all the time to me when I was only using emulators and no front end. I'd constantly forget that I used slot 6 last time and then saved into slot 6, then load slot 6 and it would be where I currently was instead of my other save that was in a different spot. Seems like a good first effort for this, but basically the feature needs to be a replica of the save and load states in RL with the slot data and screenshot of where you were at the time of saving.

Woah, I have to try that. I almost had a heart attack when my kid unplugged my gamecube 4 controller adapter to use for his switch. I said "you didn't turn the computer on while it was disconnected did you!!@@@???" Lol. Luckily he didn't, so I could plug it back in and everything was fine. But man, it's annoying to always worry about stuff like that because windows won't let you assign stuff.

I guess I'm confused by what was said. They made it sound like there was no graphical representation to note that a save state has been filled. Such as save state 1 now being bold and bright instead of dim when it's empty. Is there a tutorial video yet, or is it too recent? I dont ever really go dive in until I've seen it in action so I have no idea what it even looks like yet.

Can you turn on and off game startup screens per platform? I only really need to use it for dolphin at this point.
-
Wait a second, you mean to tell me launchbox doesn't show you whether or not there is a save game in the save slot you have selected under the pause screen?

I've heard of altavista.

damn, that really is the perfect example of why we need controller specific mappings for lb/bb. I have SNES, Gamecube, Xbox360, and Playstation controllers all hooked up. i have to press all the buttons to figure out which one happens to be start or exit between all the different controllers. A pain for sure.

For sure, launchbox is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier to setup. So much more streamlined. The themes are kind of fun for hyperspin, but it lacks so much that it doesn't matter to me. I kept rocketlauncher because it still has platform and game specific joy2key keymapper, and bezels, which I spent so much time setting up and worked great so I kept it. You can't even navigate hyperspin with a joystick because of a bug that has been there since 2013. It's basically dead for all intents and purposes.

There are some great playlists out there. I have some top 100/50 of a bunch of genres (fighting, beat em up, shoot em up, etc.) and then a golden age playlist, and actually some playlists that mimic physical arcade locations so it's like going through what they have there which is sort of fun. I'd be happy to share any or all of them along with their clear logos.
-
Oh didn't know that. I suppose because every time i added a platform I was of course adding RL as the emulator, so I associated it with the overall scheme of things.
-
Once you start fresh with lunchbox selected as your plugin in rocket launcher, you have to to back to launch box and tell every platform to use rocketlauncher as the emulator, should be in the emulator drop down box now. Then they should show up in rocketlauncher. But you would still have to configure the emulators and everything else in rocketlauncher.

Different controller mappings in Launchbox
damageinc86 replied to SpaceMidget75's topic in Troubleshooting
This is definitely something that should be a bitbucket issue and hopefully get into an update someday. I have snes, gamecube, playstation, and xbox360 controllers. I just have to try to remember which ones have certain buttons that land on a different button than the other ones. Usually end up pressing every button until I come across the one for launching the game. which usually means that I hit the change views button along the way and have to set that back and remember not to hit that the next time around. -
Does a LaunchBox subscription come with an emumovies discount?
damageinc86 replied to Avenger's topic in Noobs
even if you have to buy an emumovies lifetime,...these two products are just amazing in conjunction with one another. Worth the money, and then some! -
I really don't know exactly how they get it to work, even with RA, all I know is I type that stuff in, and then it works.

This is especially useful for all the different arcade games with unique buttons. Come to think of it, it would probably be just as useful for consoles if someone were to go into the game's manual and then make an image with what each button did like your example.
