  1. Yup. I need good keymapping and pause also though too, so it's just a waiting game at this point. It'll get there someday I'm sure. Eventually there will be time to focus on it.
  2. I can't figure out how to get the text to go back to just plain flat setting. It says there is no text warp on it, So I can't seem to find how it's got the curve on it.
  3. I can't drop it because of amazing bezel implementation, superior pause menu, and perfect keymapping setup. I don't use the .lay bezels in mame, but a really awesome set made by metalzoic for RL, and it looks amazing. I only use retroarch for like 5 systems, so for the rest, in order to have a uniform look I have to have rocketlauncher put bezels over mednafen and other stuff.
  4. Yeah I still have to hang on to Rocketlauncher because of the Bezels that I use on systems I don't use Retroarch with. I love my collection of bezels, and since I only use Retroarch for handhelds and a few other systems, I have a lot of bezels that are used for other systems through RL. Launchbox has pretty good fade screens I've seen, but since I already have a crapload, and some really cool game specific ones in RL, I still use RL for fades, and it handles fades over PC games very well. Rocketlauncher's PAUSE screen is still the best I've ever used. Mostly because you can program the keypresses for the emulator's save and load state slots, and it does a great job of sending those keypresses for you. It also takes a screenshot for each slot and displays it when you select the slot, so you can see where you were when you saved it. You can also easily look at the manual from the pause screen there, just have to have the pdf in the right folder under the right system. Lastly, the keymapping function. A godsend for my old ms-dos platformers (keen, cosmo, bio menace, etc.). Point RL to the joy2key.exe, and then from within the keymapper tab you can add a new profile, click on the game from the list, and then it opens joy2key for you so you can map the controls right then and there; save the profile and close joy2key, and the entry is now in RL for that specific game. You can also do platform specific keymapping so for example, on other emulators that I use an original controller on, I can still have a global keymap for that platform that says if I hold the select button down for like 700ms, then it will hit the esc key, so I can exit the emulator without having to reach over to the keyboard. i feel that these three things are really the final frontier of having a complete front end experience. Someday launchbox will have it all covered, I'm confident. But as of right now, Rocketlauncher has it covered better and more completely.
  5. I put this in the running autohotkey section. Worked great. Thanks. Now if we can just get a keymapper launcher per platform or per-game, then I won't have to have the keyboard here just to exit cemu. But at least it works for now.
  6. If you can do even basic photoshop, you can make your own really easy in the crylen's template I put up here: Crylen's bordered logo + psd
  7. yeah maybe a link to the whole pack. Great work.
  8. Yes for both of those. I had a really cool theme back in the hyperspin days that had a greyed out clear logo image for every entry, and then a red bordered and full color clear logo for the highlighted game. It had a nice look to it.
  9. I know, Bezels (which are working for all my systems perfectly in RL) and the fact that RL can help me edit, save, and launch joy2key profiles on a per-game basis are literally,...i repeat, literally the only two reasons it is still installed. Once you get used to having a bezel for every system pre-wii, it's hard to envision your setup without it. Which is why I have to keep RL here. It keeps the windowed stuff under control almost 100% of the time, so I don't get the apprehension. And i need the keymapping launch per-game for my ms-dos platformers and shooter (raptor!). And putting all your eggs in the retroarch basket just alienates everyone who doesn't use it. Mednafen covers most of my systems aside from dolphin and dreamcast. I only use retroarch for 4 systems. So just hoping that everyone will use retroarch for every system and therefore have bezels for everything doesn't really help overall. i'm not actually super worried about it, it's just a bummer to not see it even on the radar at all. But I'm holding out hope that in the years to come, it will finally just become something that is expected for a front-end to do, and isn't viewed as such an issue. Or maybe becomes easier to implement. I remember when having the "wheel" was a huge leap forward. So i'm sure it will get there.

    PC Games

Sure. I have all my PC Games under the PC Games platform. Gog, Steam, and all different types of windows games. Just make a platform and add games. Just don't let Launchbox put it under Windows. Manually make it go to your other platform.
  11. i think the additions look very good, and fit the style great. Good job.
  12. @mothergoose729 provided very relevant information about a few instances of a standalone emulator having more customization than retroarch, when you literally said you cannot get more customization than that. Doesn't seem weird at all. In fact, I found that list very interesting and didn't know about a lot of those things.
  13. Yeah it's not native in launchbox. keymappers are the way to go for this. I use rocketlauncher, which can start joy2key per platform or per game. I rarely play any multi-disc games so I haven't really messed with it, but I'm sure a button combo could be done that way.
  14. Yeah I used it once to test it out when i had two computers with launchbox on it, because I'd ad some images or something on one, and want it reflected on the other install as well. It was very easy to use. it would also be cool to use on the emulator folder to keep the versions the same across both computers.
  15. love it. Could you render the arcade one with your white background like the other viking vids? I really like that one.
  16. I bet you could use freefilesync and then probably just run the sync on the whole emulator folder, or maybe just pick out the save folders for a sync run.
  17. I have been following this for a while, and i just noticed today that there is no disk drive; I'd like it to have a blu-ray drive for that price.
  18. It's a pretty neat idea, I really like having the platform be those banners, but not sure if I'd like the games being those banners, especially with the repeated controller on ever image. Great work though!
  19. Well I wasn't aware it was open, so sorry lol. I thought they were holding their methods close, hence the post on their forums a long time ago by Jason asking if there were ways in which they could collaborate. That made me think it was tightly wrapped up. Yeah sure it boils down to that, but I wouldn't say that means re-invent the wheel, the last two components (the only reason most people even have to still use RL) of complete front end domination are on the horizon, and already exist.
  20. Yeah I'm sure there are some that are difficult to get to, but the most common and popular ones seem to have save slots that are not that evasive. I have all my systems covered through using mame, retroarch, dolphin, and mednafen. All those key presses were easy to set up except I think dolphin was too hard to get to the next slot. it's too bad the RL people won't just partner up so this, and key mapping can be done and over with. Then as far as I'm concerned, front end domination will have had occured.
  21. I didn't really understand most of your essay. All the pause savestate menu really has to do is send key presses to the emulator to save or load the state. The rest is up to the emulator to catalog for itself. For example, send 1, then f5, and that will save. Send 1 and then f7, and that will load (slot 1 that is). am I missing something?
  22. Sure I get that. Baby steps I suppose. People who have never been able to do anything regarding save states will surely be excited, but then again might also just be satisfied with one single option out of ignorance.
  23. Unless you forgot that 6 months ago you saved in that slot and then hit save again and only remembered after the fact that damn, I just saved over my first one. This happened all the time to me when I was only using emulators and no front end. I'd constantly forget that I used slot 6 last time and then saved into slot 6, then load slot 6 and it would be where I currently was instead of my other save that was in a different spot. Seems like a good first effort for this, but basically the feature needs to be a replica of the save and load states in RL with the slot data and screenshot of where you were at the time of saving.
  24. No I dont mean the status messages that emulators pop up I mean like this:
  25. Woah, I have to try that. I almost had a heart attack when my kid unplugged my gamecube 4 controller adapter to use for his switch. I said "you didn't turn the computer on while it was disconnected did you!!@@@???" Lol. Luckily he didn't, so I could plug it back in and everything was fine. But man, it's annoying to always worry about stuff like that because windows won't let you assign stuff.
