  1. I found retroarch to be a convoluted mess actually. Plus it doesn't even let me map controls to any of my controllers besides the xbox360 i have plugged in. rendering anything past player 1 games useless. Mednafen has been great for me. Takes care of almost all of my systems, plus sega saturn now! I use everything with rocketlauncher though, but that might be a good thing to just try to set up one emulator in, to get your feet wet.
  2. ahhh so you just made it that perspective by hand. great work then!
  3. awesome, thanks. Got an acceptable mobile one made, but don't know how to do the shadow like that. but looks decent. like that font.
  4. maybe at least know what font was used, and I could get close enough for my own needs.
  5. could you do a mobile platform category logo? That's the only one missing in my setup, and these are just too good to not use.
  6. yeah i'm guessing if you are only using one or two controllers it will be fine.
  7. I actually only use retroarch for handhelds, because for some reason I have never had a retroarch install of any version number recognize all the controllers I have plugged in except my first xbox360 controller, and sometimes if i'm lucky my second one. Even if all other controllers (SNES, GC, Playstation) plugged in show up with the yellow text that comes on when you first start up, the mapper never shows them in the list. only the xbox360. So I gave up trying to get anywhere with that, because that's a pretty big deal to not have working. Actually for most systems I use mednafen, which now can do sega saturn. Easy to map controls on that, can do it right in the emulator and re-do mappings on screen. i know you can set the retroarch core in launchbox, but i'd have to take another look, as i haven't messed with that since I was trying to figure retroarch out like over a year ago. i'm pretty sure it's a module setting with a gear icon somewhere.
  8. I specifically use RL for Fades, Bezels, and The very awesome PAUSE feature. The best part about PAUSE is that it has a save state and load state menu that you can setup with the emulators key presses in the RL autohotkey area. I forget where it is in the RLGUI, but I could show you how to edit the text file directly for it. Soooooo nice to be able to hit a key, bring up pause, save and load states right there from the menu. Not to mention the bezels for arcade games, really kick arse. Especially if you get Metalzoic's stuff off of the emumovies ftp. Also easy once you select launchbox as the RL plugin, and then go to launchbox and set RL to the emulator. Adding stuff to launchbox is just a matter of importing and then selecting rocketlauncher as the emulator. Then once it's in launchbox, it will populate in RL next time you launch it, and you can configure all the particulars for the emulator and games right in there. Another cool thing, is you can set up specific emulators for specific games within a platform in RL. It can get a bit tedious making everything smooth in RL, but once it is set, it's just beautiful, and works great with LB. I'd definitely recommend getting back into it and dusting it off to help polish your LB setup.
  9. would this take care of the problem of there being a black screen when you scroll really fast and then stop? I have to hit the left or right key to bring up the letter selector, and then go up and down before the screen shows all the logos again.
  10. old school sepultura never gets old for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7Z8Ww1EmMk
  11. I see there is a playlist category logo. I have never seen a playlist show up in my bigbox when I have it in category view, how does this work? I'd like to have a category for playlists to jump into instead of remembering a keypress.
  12. i hit backspace and esc key, and they both register as being the new mapping.
  13. So I've been using Crylen's framed logos for years now, occasionally updating it with my own "wheels", or "clear logos" in Launchbox's case. Since you can't upload anything but zip and png to the download area, i'm putting a link to the psd file here. I love the bordered wheels and figured there might be people who saw it years ago when it was first made available, or people who have never seen it who might like to use it. https://mega.nz/#!Pd5lUIAQ!snJSeK0tpK8YSiGulj0fEfefK6ulXAU7xcal4StbwPM
  14. Yes me too ! I had to settle for something else because I don't remember how to make it (none). After the "press a key" text there should be "(key such) for NONE.
  15. Yup you just add rocket launcher to your emulator list and then point every platform/game to use rocket launcher admin the emulator . Any game you add to LB after that will automatically show up in rocket launcher under that system. It's really great. LB/BB is great with rocketlauncher
  16. I've just wanted the playlists or "wheels" to be tied to their parent platform. My playlist area of big box is filling up fast and will get cumbersome. If it could just be an overlay that slides over the side of whatever platform you are in and shows what playlists you have for that platform, that would be simple and easy. Although i suppose thAt couldn't deal with playlists. That span multiple platforms. Only ones that are I guess basically genres you've made under a platform. Oh hell I don't know anymore, what does I all mean!?
  17. do you have this shmups logo transparent file? I like it a lot, but I use crylens rectangle border wheels.
  18. This works pretty good. Only thing that I noticed in mine is that even with adding a number to the front (02 - Nintendo consoles), It seemed to sort alphabetically for the most part within that title, but then for some reason Nintendo Wii is at the beginning of the list. But you would assume Nintendo Wii would be towards the end.
  19. I tried kodi once and could never get it to even show boxart. It was not intuitive to me anyways. I gave up. It looked great though from what I saw on everyone's setups.
  20. i think video game enthusiasts are in a unique position to be the "underground archivists" so to speak, of this industry's offerings. Since corporations rarely actually care about their products longer than 5 years after release, it is really up to us to somehow make sure these games are all preserved since they really won't do it, or make their content available for institutions (museums or archives) to obtain outside of actually hunting down every physical copy of something ever released. Which sort of happens, but of course it's an amazing undertaking. Here the underground comes in, and hobbyists have successfully kept very large pieces of history alive far past their initial lifespans. I think that is really important, so in that respect I don't frown upon how this hobby obtains its cultural artifacts ;-)
  21. Oh man, that is too bad. At least there is a PSD template for the base silver ring right?
  22. Are the creators of these saving all the PSD files just in case? So maybe if someone really wants a different font or something, they can just pop the file open and tweak something a bit to their liking.
  23. Awesome! Excited about that. I know it sounds like complaining, but it's just the flow I feel when navigating, and it feels a bit off to me in certain situations like platform specific playlists. I like the playlist screen for my other lists though.
  24. Now that the platform lists are in bigbox, I still find myself wanting a sidebar that slides over whatever platform I'm within at the moment, and shows all playlists I've made for that system. Might not work for playlists that span across multiple platforms maybe. But for most playlists that just stick to a platform, especiall Arcade, it would be cool to have an option to slide the playlists for that platform above the platform itself instead if going to a separate "platform" screen that is just like the main menu you boot up into.
