No, not easily/consistently if you are talking the actual LB pause menu overlay.

@legolas119At least as of 11.5 Beta 4 it is updated to 224. Sadly there is no easy way to tell without diving into the XML file (see below how to do that) since there is no version indicator or date when updated. Typically, it is updated relatively quickly after release from MAME side (i.e., within a few days to week). It has been mentioned in some other threads that would be useful to have this indicated but as of current version not a feature. You can always go to the Help Menu and do a "Force Update" of the database which includes the MAME.XML file that is used for import to make sure you have the most current before you do an import. With only minor additions in each version it isn't a big issue if you have a 224 set and run an import and LB is still at 223, as an example. You just won't get those few games that are "new" (or if they renamed a ROM from old set to new). You can always drag/drop the rom if you have something you know you want immediately added pending update of the XML. My method is I just update my MAME set and rerun the full importer a week or so later since like said, it doesn't cause any issues if LB is a version lagging at that point and in most cases by that time is updated. If you really want to know if updated, you can look at the MAME.XML in the ...Launchbox\Metadata folder. Then do a search for the one of the new games that are listed in the MAME "Whats New" text file under "working" (the non-software listings). For example, the 224 added Sector Zone clones are in the XML file I have as well as the Zookeeper bootleg. As you look at that new listing though and assuming say you don't import any casino games, there are only a handful of games that would pop up as new that are non-software sets.

@Plastron Thanks for uploading those. That filled a lot a gaps I had in video side of things for the 8-bit platform. -
Detected Launchbox Game ID is wrong and I can't change it
sundogak replied to Craig Parton's topic in Troubleshooting
Clear the LB ID entry by clicking the "X" then paste in the Alternate name listed in the DB (i.e., Nintendo Tetris if want the North America region Tetris (Bulletproof) for Asia). It should bring up the correct one you want to map. Normally it should show both entries in the drop down block to pick which you want. So not sure what the issue is there in DB. Both primary names are listed as Tetris and the regions don't appear to be mapped for some of the alt names. When I tried fixing the alt name regions I get a DB error so not sure if DB is entry is messed up or just something on my end. Also, once the ID is matched, you can over write the name to whatever and LB will still keep the ID match as long as don't clear the "X" or you don't do a fully metadata update replacing existing or it will zap anything you customized. -
@DrybonzOdd. Even launching from RPCS3 directly outside of LB, if you have the exit thread checked then if you exit game it will close GUI. Is GUI remaining when launched outside LB? Also might check you don't have a custom config for games setup versus global and that those settings are not being applied. Easiest way is in RPCS3 is to rightclick on game in listing and will show if custom config present. When launching from LB (or really even directly) it will launch the RPCS3 game listing GUI and it will be under the full screen of the game. For LB, under the Startup Screen tab in LB, if I have "Hide All Windows not in Exclusive Fullscreen" and "Aggressive Startup Hiding" checked it will hide that underlying GUI that pops up momentarily so only the LB startup screen is shown (other than if needs PPU compiling). But even if I don't have either checked, the RPCS3 GUI will only pop up momentarily until the game goes into full screen mode and in which case the GUI is placed in background.
-
Nope, not once running it goes to full screen. If RPC3 needs to compile PPU modules you will see that pop up but eventually goes full screen back to game. Check settings here in RPC3 (particularly the first 3) and check the GUI tab that all welcome screens checked off:

I have never used the launcher so not sure how it is set up but the non-launcher way is: 1) setup emulator like normal 2) point the launch file to the EBOOT.BIN file for each game. One below is example for Demon Souls. I don't have that many games for PS3 so less of issue working them manually.

prosystem_libretro.dll @nollerd2This is the latest core I had for 7800.

If you are just talking about wanting the controller to exit, then go to Tools, Options, Game Controllers, and Mappings. Select Button 11 (which is Guide Button for Xbox One) to Exit Game. LB will do the rest and don't need to bother with AHK from controller perspective.

Problem with Retroarch Flycast core through Launchbox
sundogak replied to markrock76's topic in Troubleshooting
I am able to run the flycast (build Aug 7) core with RA 1.9 and LB 11.4 (it also worked under prior LB versions). You might double check versions running are current as well as try a reinstall of LB. Copies of the LB installer are under ..\\Launchbox\Updates Also, you might try turning on logging in RA. Since issue is happening in LB, the easiest way is to go to your retroarch.cfg file in the Retroarch directory and search for the following: log_dir = ":\logs" log_to_file = "false" log_verbosity = "false" If you change the "false" flags to "true" then Retroarch will keep a log and place it (default) in Retroarch\logs whenever RA is launched. That way you don't have to mess with your command line in LB for RA. Then there might be a clue in the RA log as to what is causing RA to crash when launched through LB. -
You cannot currently prioritize media. So you either have to remove the ones you don't want to show, or put them in an unrelated category so LB keeps them but doesn't show them (I use Fanart-Cart Back since don't use that for anything on my setup).

Well, it takes typically 24 or more hours since it: has to be approved it has to be rolled up into the update package for download you have to been asked to download an update package (typically when you search) and/or you force a download of the update package. So it isn't instant from time you make update in DB or even once it is approved. You have to wait for update package to be rolled up and ready to distribute for local update. You can force an update to the local database on your PC by going to Help menu and checking for updates or if you think something is amiss, you can also force an update (see snap). I live in Central US time zone and find that update packages are rolled up typically around 8 or 9 pm my time, so if I either do force update or do a search DB will be downloaded to local install and reflect any changes approved. Also, if it is never showing up, your changes may have been rejected. Depending on your time zone, when you made the change, and how much moderation backlog there is, I have seen it take a couple days in some cases for my changes to show up in the pushed DB to LB. You can check the status of your changes you made in DB by going to your account online in web browser and going to status. If it hasn't been approved, then won't show up in nightly update packages pushed to LB local install. On the refresh of multiple games, yes LB can do that. This is done through the Tools, Download Metadata and Media option. For whatever you select, either multiple games or by platform, if you then run that option it will give you option to replace data, only update missing information, etc. I typically wouldn't select all your games at one whack (although you can) but by whatever you are working on say by console type. Also you can use the Tools, Audit feature to bring up a grid, and then for example sort by missing 3D covers and then select those and use the Metadata update option to work on specific gaps (i.e., only select 3D covers to download). In doing it in chunks, avoids getting a bunch of duplicates in your media. For Metadata updates only, you simply select no media downloads either from LB DB or EmuMovies and then it will only update the data fields, no media. So lots of options, depends on what you want to do.

Although not a direct solution, the link here we were discussing using symlink application to the image/video directories which is where LB can get large (independent of ROMs) if on space constrained local drive. Maybe some well placed symlinks can cut down on syncing you have to do. I have used the symlink utility to do SSD cache symlinks to speed things up. I keep my ROMs on my NAS with the LB install itself on a local drive. Even on a 10 gbit network connection I found it too laggy for data LB needed to access if on NAS (likely my Synology drives).

Did you check in the ...\Launchbox\Updates folder? LB stores prior version installers there. You might still have the older ones you need there. Also, your backups to your games library XML are located in ...Launchbox\backups inside a zip file. So you should be able to restore a backup from there, although never had an update fry the data files.

@Wanderer189 See this link on Future Pinball and pause/exit screen to maybe save some fiddling time. Nutshell version, pause feature will only work if directly launching Future Pinball.exe. If going through BAM or other AHK type setup then Pause will not work. You should be able to exit with Game Controller mapping in LB though. @erling1000 Like wanderer189 said, you shouldn't need to make any custom commands. If tables have all the appropriate files the launch command (like shown in Wanderer's screen snap and below) setup in Emulator menu default command line parameters will launch all tables with no modifications. Might make sure you have no conflicting commands in the table edit view. My Xbox One controller exits fine, so not much help though on PS4 question other than recheck the mapping and not conflicting with something else. /open %romfile% /play /exit On the Max Player view, have you checked with default theme to see if there? If working in default then likely a theme update issue.

Fanart Background problems in theme
sundogak replied to Aniv Cuderoes's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
Did you double check your media priorities? When LB was upgraded to include imports for things like Epic and Origin I found it "reset" some of my priorities from what I had prior. So I would look there first to verify it is as you want it under Tools, Options, Media and then Background Priorities. -
Steam Pinball FX3 Cabinet Mode won't quick exit
sundogak replied to tmreith's topic in Troubleshooting
@tmreith The attempt to hide console option really shouldn't have any impact either way on the AHK side, so doubt that is the difference. But I have found the AHK code in the Running Autohotkey script tab can be "weird" sometimes in what works and doesn't versus an external code exe. Before the LB improvement in the Game Controller Mappings and adding in Pause feature I had very similar setup to you. However, once LB added in improved Game Controller Mapping and the Pause Menu feature I have had less issues with controller exit commands versus AHK. Anyway, have you tried deleting the Guide portion and just mapping the exit to Button 11 within LB? Then just using only the ESC AHK script portion? I would try completely erasing everything in the AHK tab (select all) and closing then adding in text from say notepad. I suspect there may be times where an errant space/character in the tab is causing issues with LB, but just a theory. Other than that, I am not much help since "should" work and I don't see anything obvious on why it wouldn't in your setup. So may be one of those "stick with what works" if the AHK exe is working for you. -
Steam Pinball FX3 Cabinet Mode won't quick exit
sundogak replied to tmreith's topic in Troubleshooting
Interesting. My setup works fine with this code in the Running Autohotkey Script tab for FX3. I used to use an AHK launcher exe but dispensed with that to try to keep things simple (or at least simpler). ; Use normal ALT f4 in windows to close. ESC takes back in menu. Esc:: Send, !{F4} return Also my game controller mapping in LB in Options for exiting works as well, so removed any AHK code I used to have for the Xbox One Guide button. -
Norton Antivirus is finally a happy camper on my box on Beta 18. It isn't falsely trying to quarantine the bigbox.dll, even with a direct scan of the files.

yep, use that tool for my cache files for my SSD as well. Glad you resolved with easier solution.

The Platforms.XML file located in ...\Launchbox\Data has the paths to the media (towards the end of file). The rom paths are in ..\Launchbox\Data\Platforms\ then by the platform name. But you can change rom paths in mass directly in LB via the Tools menu. If just moving everything to another drive then shouldn't have to do anything since by default all the paths are relative to LB install location. You should double check your emulator paths in LB though if some were not using relative paths.

LB Hang - Task Kill: I had this happen and sounds similar to what @dblalcar experienced. Happened two times during early betas but didn't think much of it at time considering changes to new Core and didn't have logs on at the time. Tonight I had it happen twice where the edit window was open and second when closing the edit window. In both cases, LB hung up with no response (but didn't crash outright). The Windows busy spinning icon will spin away when this happens. I let the second time spin about 10 minutes before I task killed it. It doesn't actually appear to be doing anything during that time and like noted by dbalcar it isn't taxing resources (CPU, drive all low use). I have attached both logs where it hung up and had to task kill it (Hang - Task Kill No 1 and 2). LB Hang - Scroll to "reactivate": About three other times tonight (beyond above) I had LB hang with the window dimmed as if another window dialog box is open (but not). With this case, the mouse cursor was still active and moving just nothing would "activate" in the LB window. Clicking in menu gets no response or on any of the areas. However, if move the mouse to the left platform pane and scroll with mouse wheel (our scroll bar) to end of platform listing it will "unlock" and back to normal. It's like it is waiting for an action or window to close, but there are no windows open. The difference with this issue versus first one is the Windows busy icon is not running and you can actually see the mouse inside the LB window. I am always able to unstick it but forcing a scroll of the platform with mouse wheel or dragging the scroll bar (but no other actions work). This one always happens immediately after closing the edit window, but not consistently. I can go back to same game and do edits and is fine or will work fine for awhile and then pop up again. I attached a log for this one as well but not sure will give much since appears LB just goes back to normal after forcing a window scroll. Happened on multiple platforms, so don't think a corrupted XML. Not sure if both issues are related and suspect hard to track down. It doesn't happen with a pattern other than the edit window tends to be the trigger. Haven't changed anything Windows wise and Nvidia drivers/mouse drivers all up to date (and same used in prior LB versions). No other main programs were running when happened. Mouse is USB direct connected and not wireless. On unrelated note, Norton Antivirus really dislikes (erroneously) the Bigbox.DLL in the ..Launchbox\Core directory with this round of betas. Never had it whine before on LB. But it merrily will quarantine that DLL each time a beta comes out due to its mystery "heuristic" checks. Excluding it works fine thereafter (until a new version). Anyway, just noting since soon to go final and others may run into over zealous Norton zapping the needed DLL.
