  1. Hey everyone, I want to manually update some types of game media with higher quality images and run into some problems. As an example to explain what I mean I'll use Gameboy cartridge images. Here's what I want to do: What I want to do is using a set of high res Gameboy cartridge images published here on LaunchBox. I want my games to prioritize these images. For every game that is not included in the high res set, I still want to be able to use the images that LaunchBox automatically downloads. Also, I want to be able to every once in a while update the metadata and media for my gameboy games (in order get newly published videos and so on) without the high quality cartridges being replaced / without the lower uality images being redownloaded. Here is what problems I ran into: I downloaded the high res cartridge set. I placed the file "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Fall of the Foot Clan (USA).png" into the appropriate folder. Launchbox automatically linked the new high res image to the game. However, the lower res cartridge image was still the (for a lack of better words) "default cartridge image, so I deleted it. Then I tried updating the metadata and media for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Fall of the Foot Clan (USA)" in LaunchBox, using the "don't replace any existing fields or media"-option. However, what happened was that the lower res cartridge image was redownloaded and set as the "default" cartridge image again. Here are my questions: How would I go about achieving my goal? I first thought about deleting all images, then placing all the high res images inside the folder and then updating the metadata of all games, so I'd get the missing media files. But my examples showed that lower res images will be redownloaded from the LaunchBox database. I also thought about using the "missing game media" selection within Launchbox, but it displays games from all platforms, which is pointless if I want to go thorugh every platform separately, meanig I cannot display "gameboy games with missing media". The only solution I can think of now is to delete replace the lower res images with the higer res set one by one and then remembering to never update gameboy media. This is very inconvenient however. So what is the easiest way to do what I'd like to do? Thank you!
  2. Ws this question directed at me? I don't know anything in detail about these emulators. NOX was the first I tried and it worked, so I stuck with it. The only game that I can't seem to get running on any Android Emulator is Mario Kart Tour.
  3. Hey everyone, I want to force populate BigBox image cache. I have a large collection, so it takes very long to do that, so I'd like to force populate in multiple sessions (I don't want to keep my PC running for 4 das straight). However, whenever I relaunch BigBox after one session, the caching process seems to be starting from scratch (the progress bar starts at the beginning). Is this behavior normal? I think I remember an older version of BigBox that saved the progress of the caching progress.
  4. Very true, but I feel many people don't know, haha.
  5. UPDATE: In order for CDi emulation to continue working, you need to get the updated cdimono1 bios file from mame. It was updated some time ago and CDi emulation on newer mame versions without the updated bios file is broken.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion. I just researched how to do that and found this: https://support.bignox.com/en/multi/shortcut However, when I click on the shortcut button, I don't get the message that a shortcut was created and there is in fact no shortcut on my desktop. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? EDIT: Never mind, I had an old version of Nox installed. I downloaded the newest version and now it works. Thanks a ton ?
  7. I noticed that there is an Android platform for LaunchBox. Android emulation is possible via Nox Player, for example. Is there any automated way to import Android games into LaunchBox?
  8. Thanks so much for the clarification. I imagined it being like that but didn't find any clear confirmation online. It's clear to me now. ?
  9. After having a look at the LaunchBox game database, it seems that Amiga CD should be scraped as "Amiga", not "Amiga CD32".
  10. These are the absolute best most atmospheric bezels I have ever seen. Simply amazing. Hopring for many more systems added =).
  11. Hey everyone, Redump lists rom sets for Commodore Amiga CD32, Commodore Amiga CD & Commodore Amiga CDTV. Launchbox has default platforms for Commodore Amiga CD32 & Commodore Amiga CDTV, but not Commodore Amiga CD. So I wonder which platform I should use for scraping Commodore Amiga CD. Should I use the regular Commodore Amiga Computer Platform or the Commodore Amiga CD32 Platform? I'm not really sure what Commodore Amiga CD is supposed to be anyway. I tried finding info about it online, but I didn't find anything useful.
  12. Sorry for the late replay, I was too busy over the last days. I will give you all you need in the new year ?
  13. No worries, I have working backups ;). As a workaround, I manually deleated all the xmls that your importer created and reimported the collection without the adult games. The parents info was saved, so I don't have to reorganize anything. I can send you a screenshot, but I'm afraid the currupted xmls are gone. i should be able to reproduce the error by just adding the adult games back in, though. I can try if you want. Anyway, thanks for your help!
  14. This would be great, but the flashing background is killing me, I just can't stare at my screen with all of this going on. Would be better without it.
  15. Hey there, another question: I accidentally imported all the adult games due to my initial confusion. However, now I have altready grouped all the platforms and playlists under cetrain parents to keep everything nice and tidy. I tried reimporting Flashpoint, this time excluding the adult games. In your GUI it said that missing games would be deleaded from the platforms and playlists. Now when I try to start launchbox, I get multple errors saying that cetrain xml files are currupted (all the ones Flashpoint creats) Do you have any idea what causes this?
  16. I have never read about chd, cso or rvz causing problems. But on the Dolphin forums people talk about the problems of gcz. I'm no expert, I just know what I've read somewhere online, haha.
  17. That's right but I read that gcz format can cause errors in a few games. Besides, I've already converted the whole library to rvz, so I don't want to spend time converting everything to gcz again. Eventually retroarch will support rvz, I think. I'll just have to wait.
  18. Absolutely. I also converted to CHD. It's great, but it does take a while indeed. Also converted Wii and Gamecube games to RVZ. Unfortunately the dolphin retroarch core does not support RVZ files, yet. It's not too much of an issue, since I use dolphin standalone for wii games anyway, however I would like to use the retroarch core for gamecube games, because it would allow me to use bezels.
  19. Don't worry, I didn't want to pressure you into anything =). I didn't know that the platforms would retain their parent platform category when updating. In that case, we really don't need the feature I was talking about. On another note, I have trouble figuring out how to exclude the extreme/adult games. When I open the dropdown menu in "tools", the crossed out "18" symbol is marked with a blue square. Does that mean the adult games are excluded or included by default? It's a little ambiguous.
  20. I'm at over 90k at this point. All major popular consoles and handhelds working great, except Nintendo Switch and PS3, which are still fairly experimental. Whenever possible, I built a 1G1R set with USA --> JAP (english language) --> EUR--> JAP (non english language) --> other regions. I excluded betas, demos, and prototypes, but included unlicensed games. I'm not too happy with computers. there are many issues that give me a headache: 1. I like to keep things consistent, so I opted for MAME Software List Roms for computer systems. However, many (most) of the roms are not games, but applications. There are other sets, which have the games separated from apps, such as TOSEC, but TOSEC includes multiple different formats for its games, making it very hard to build 1G1R sets. On the other hand, TOSEC has many games that MAME SL does not have. 2. There is the question of which emulator to use. Again, I like being consistent and use the mame core in Retroarch. This can be a pain to set up, but works in most cases with a few workarounds. However, standalone emulators might work better. 3. Many computer systems require launching every single game / app with a string of commands that need to be typed in manually, which makes launching games from Launchbox a pain. There are ways to automate this process for some computer systems, but it doesn't work for all of them. TL;DR: Consoles and handhelds work great, computer systems are a pain. EDIT: I've also seen people with a collcetion of over 400K. I guess a collection like this includes all regional and version varieties as well as clones for and every single game out there, all imported as separate entries into Launchbox. Such a collection would be borderline unusable for me. I can see the appeal of having regional and version varietes included if they are grouped together under one single entry. E.g. the USA rom at revision 2.00 would be the default rom and other versions and regions would be additional apps. However, at this point, Launchbox does not reliably allow importing and grouping different versions of a game following such a defined pattern. If I incude more computer systems from MAME SL, and maybe OG Xbox (although there currently is no emulator that works well) I might be able to hit over 100K roms in Launchbox.
  21. @oblivioncthI have a suggestion for your tool. In order to organize all the platforms better, I'd suggest the following structure. There should be a platform category called "Web Browser" (Web Browser already is a platform name within Launchbox) or "Flash" if you like that better. Web Browser as a platform category can then funktion as a parent for all the flash game platforms your tool creates. What do you think?
  22. Great, thanks for the info! A better way to filter the vids would be amazing ?.
  23. So I finally get around to testing the importer. A quick question, though: Does it also import the flash videos or just the games? I' also like to import the videos, maybe under a different platform name?
  24. Thank you so much ?
