Can't load Launchbox at all after new update
C-Beats replied to OneDragon's topic in Troubleshooting
Looks like something is locking that file and making it so we can't overwrite it. If you're unsure what has the lock typically a computer restart will free it. -
No Write Access Permissions after 13.12 update
C-Beats replied to WallyWonka's topic in Troubleshooting
This error would occur if that individual file was set to read-only or if it was open in another application for some reason and not the folder as a whole. That being said if you want to try to rollback you can. Go to \\LaunchBox\Updates\ and run the installer in there. -
Can't seem to pare down my mame 0.263 romset on export.
C-Beats replied to butchnap's topic in Troubleshooting
You're using the wrong tool. You want Tools > File Management > Export / Copy files to new folder (last item) -
Auto-Playlist does support custom fields. The field name will show in the list once you have a game with the value set. It shows just as the field name though not "Custom Field: Field Name" like it does in the Bulk Edit wizard.

RetroAchievements aren't in the UI anywhere, but if your emulator supports it and you have a internet connection you can still earn them on your device Android doesn't have a pause screen Not at this time as it conflicts with other devices/functionality like Samsung DEX You'll basically use RetroArch on Android for all the systems you typically would on PC. Emulators that are better standalone on PC are also better as standalone on Android. Primary difference MAY be MAME but with the new MAME4Droid that may not be true. I haven't really messed with MAME on my Odin 2 enough to really have tried it.

Our DB doesn't have sub-genre data. What you're seeing is the MAME genre data we get from MAME and the supporting INI files and NOT our database. I do have my own platform data on the site and JoeViking has a plugin around here somewhere that lets you apply that data to your collection. Between the two you could set Genre/Sub-Genre on the platforms I have done. Outside of that you'll need to manually assign them to games in your collection as our database at this time doesn't support any genre/sub-genre pairs like that.

a bit out of the loop in regards to what you're referring to but all filters view have SelectedFilter binding and they all have the Name property on them

@Opus132 eXoDOS and C64 Dreams both add items to that menu by creating LaunchBox plugins. It's not something you can do without coding a plugin to do it for you. Plugins only allow you to add other items to that menu though, you'd not be able to move/remove existing items from it.

No launch code has been changed so I doubt this update affected that. If you are using HSM Mega Bezel shader it does cause a pretty significant delay to RetroArch's start time. My machine is pretty beefy and it takes about that long to get into a game because of that shader.

Moderator Guidelines and Contributor Rules

Fairly certain we already have this in our DB as well, though I admit I have no idea how many submissions it is before the flag is enabled. -
MAME should already be being skipped by the auto-import so we'll have to investigate and see if we can replicate and get that corrected.
-
I just put the features in I'm told to. As of right now I don't believe that was on the roadmap, but you could submit a feature request and the team could evaluate it and make a decision on whether they think adding it makes sense.

Thanks for making the attempt. Faeran has it on the stack of things to look at, hopefully we can get you an answer as to what's going on and any potential work arounds. -
Launchbox 13.11: keyboard shortcuts not working in audit window
C-Beats replied to Rinusch's topic in Troubleshooting
Apologies no one reached out sooner. If you run into issues like this in the future and need an official response it's generally better to email support@unbrokensoftware.com . Unfortunately things do sometimes get overlooked in the shuffle of an active forum. I did just check your report and am able to replicate your issue and will have it put on the list of things to look into. -

Could you try updating to the beta and see if that resolves your issue? Can enable those updates by going to Tools > Options and the page that says Update (or something similar) checking the box that says to enable beta updates. -
If the new search feature is on, yes. If you want to search for something that isn't a title or alt title you need to enter the tag first. So if you were wanting adventure games you'd search "genre:adventure" (without quotes). Partial strings DO work so you could have typed "genre:adv" (without quotes) to get the list as well. As to why, because we've been asked for years to make search be a title search only. We felt like it was a bit limiting before, but now that we have the ability to insert tags like that we felt we could add enough functionality to warrant the change. If you prefer the old search syntax/functionality you can enable it in LaunchBox by going to Tools > Options > Search and disabling the advanced syntax.

PC Automated imports was moved since this state. You'd now go to Tools > Manage > Storefronts to disable the setting.

Help with solution to LB crashing when highlighting game
C-Beats replied to Mainiack's topic in Troubleshooting
As @skizzosjt suggested this appears to be an issue reading one of your image files. If you notice in your screenshot there is one that is all black, which generally means it failed to fill in the pixels from file. I'd review the files you have for that game. Easiest would just be to delete them and re-grab media (assuming the game in question is in the DB) -
So it turns out in my excitement to get you all the translations with plenty of time for review that I MAY have jumped the gun a bit. Due to some issues discovered in beta testing there are a handful of new strings that were not present when I first pinged everyone. I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Re-pinging everyone so no one wastes any additional time on the old files. Those that have previously submitted translations could you review the new files and send updated ones. I didn't add the ones you gave in because I'm admittedly still learning all the nuances of the process and didn't want to break anything for you all moving forward. @Opak @Kondorito @Cauptain @Nyny77 @dukeemu @cyanjiang @Just001Kim @MajKSA @gamehacker @alexposad @k_kutsugi @Bardock @Soomin papa @thewhite

ah it is, good call. I'll see if the team can get that updated and I'll let you know once done.

Issues when sorting/searching games available from multiple sources
C-Beats replied to Goobis's topic in Troubleshooting
Quick Filter filters based on if the game or any app in a game is from a storefront. Auto Populate playlists can filter based on whether the main game is/isn't in that storefront or whether any app is from a given store front or not as well. What are you trying to accomplish that you are having a hard time with? -
Same way the current ROM importer does. Will do it's best to remove all the data in parens/brackets and then do a search based on the filename string that's left.

Translations should be ready for the 13.12 release for those willing and able to assist. Tagging translators as requested: @Opak @Kondorito @Cauptain @Nyny77 @dukeemu @cyanjiang @Just001Kim @MajKSA @gamehacker @alexposad @k_kutsugi @Bardock @Soomin papa @thewhite
