Looks amazing @Jason Carr! Fine job, sir. I've been following your build process and re-read all the posts, I'm inspired to venture into building my own. Seven months in, how do you feel about what you built? What changes would you have made... that you didn't already change? What are the best aspects of the build and what are any of the regrets? If I build a cabinet I plan for it to have a dynamic marquee that changes images based on platform and game selected. There are various aspect ratio marquee images out there - What size/aspect ratio screen would you suggest for a dynamic marquee screen? You made a post with a parts order from Ultimarc, did that change? Would you have the energy to post a final purchase list or make a PDF of your *complete* parts list, please? This would be a HUGE help in navigating build pitfalls! Thanks for clearing the path for the rest of us! 😆 Gorgeous build! What a great accomplishment.

P.S. If your controller still isn't showing up it could be because it's booting into a different mode (there are 4). Turn off the controller. Hold the X button and press Start. Once you see the connection light flashing you can release the X button.

1. It's very easy to miss, but there are tabs at the top to setup a controller per player. I also create a profile so that the controller (has a "Red" or "Blue" label physically on the controller so that I know which is which) can be quickly set to either Player 1 or 2. 2. Be sure you have Xinput as your Handler 3. Select your device 4. Add a Profile 5. The buttons should all be correct but you can double-check

Very cool concept/creation. If I had a cabinet, I would definitely try it. -
And if you just want to find which images are missing from an image group there is the audit tool. Once you've sorted the image category you'll see the games with missing images. Select those games, right-click and then do the download media process.

Retroarch randomly no longer recognises start, select or analogue inputs

Sounds like you may need to post this on the RA forums since LB does not handle the button connection and assignments in RA. -
specified folder does not contain a full mame set

Since 254 is brand new, you should grab the set from pleasure dome GitHub io -
Lordmonkus has numerous posts regarding non-merged sets and where to get them. Here is one such post https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/73584-i-could-really-use-some-help/?do=findComment&comment=436161

My N64 spine images collection was missing 6 images (also missing from the LB games database) - Frogger 2, Looney Tunes Duck Dodgers, NFL QB Club 2001, Olympic Hockey 98, Quake, and Tarzan. I grabbed the full box images from The Cover Project, cropped out the spine, improved the colors and contrast and uploaded the images to the LB games database. Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge is an unreleased title for the N64 and thus does not have an official box. Therefore, I made a custom spine. I used the other official Hasbro releases as examples and created what you see on the database. So... If you're missing some N64 spines do a refresh to grab these new ones.

Did you have LaunchBox install RetroArch for you or did you extract RetroArch yourself? Do a search in your LB folder for retroarch.exe. Run the program from there. Watch a few recent YouTube videos regarding "optimizing RetroArch" to get some suggestions to make it a bit less intrusive and a bit more responsive.

For most emulators you will need to start the controller in x-input mode. Do this by holding down X and then press Start. Emulators needing motion control like Yuzu will need the controller started in Switch mode - Hold Y and then press Start. The back of your controller should have a sticker listing each mode startup combination.

Error popped up when trying to run MS Edge with LB open and Yuzu running: UCEERR_RENDERTHREADFAILURE (0x88980406) App: LaunchBox Version: 13.3-beta-1 Type: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException Site: Void SyncFlush() Source: PresentationCore at System.Windows.Media.Composition.DUCE.Channel.SyncFlush() at System.Windows.Interop.HwndTarget.UpdateWindowSettings(Boolean enableRenderTarget, Nullable`1 channelSet) at System.Windows.Interop.HwndTarget.UpdateWindowPos(IntPtr lParam) at System.Windows.Interop.HwndTarget.HandleMessage(WindowMessage msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) at System.Windows.Interop.HwndSource.HwndTargetFilterMessage(IntPtr hwnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wParam, IntPtr lParam, Boolean& handled) at MS.Win32.HwndWrapper.WndProc(IntPtr hwnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wParam, IntPtr lParam, Boolean& handled) at MS.Win32.HwndSubclass.DispatcherCallbackOperation(Object o) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.InternalRealCall(Delegate callback, Object args, Int32 numArgs) at System.Windows.Threading.ExceptionWrapper.TryCatchWhen(Object source, Delegate callback, Object args, Int32 numArgs, Delegate catchHandler) Recent Log: 6:33:35 PM Exception EDIT: To add to this report: I guess this error technically popped up when trying to launch Firefox. After Firefox launched I then tried to load a IGN website https://www.ign.com/wikis/the-legend-of-zelda-links-awakening-switch/Road_to_Turtle_Rock_Walkthrough and the tab kept crashing as long as LB was running and each time the tab crashed I would get the LB error window. Trying to click on LB would generate another crash window. I had to right-click the taskbar icon to close LB.

I don't see .net6 listed in the installed programs list and viewing the registry editor location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP Does not list v6 whereas v2,3,3.5,4, and 4.5 are listed.

In-place upgraded from 13.2 went as expected. .Net 6 appears to have installed while not present previously. The audit tool spine sorting is fixed! *Hooray* I don't use retroachivements so I can't speak to that.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping it was something as simple as creating a batch process in Photoshop to render the images without the scratches layer: a 5 minute endeavor.
-
Your bezels are top-notch! but would you be able to publish a set without the scratches? I understand the desire to look realistic but even some original cabinets are in good shape to this day without screen scratches. The reflections are fine, the scratches are distracting.

Went to a bowling alley yesterday. They had this awesome, shiny, new Galaga game sitting in the corner. Emblazoned across the cab was. Galaga Assault. I'm like, whaaaaaat?! Yes, please! Take my money! It was $1 per play and I was low on cash so I let my 8 year old play my last dollar and I watched. He didn't last long but the gameplay was AMAZING! I need to find an excuse to go to the north side of Lansing, MI again to play it! Oh. And it's a ticket game! Go figure! At 5:00 they start the gameplay

I purchased the Atari 2600 game cartridge Kaboom! on eBay yesterday. A shipping label was very quickly created by the seller and I copied the tracking number into my shipping app called OneTracker and gave the title "Kaboom". Even though the USPS tracking number was correct the OneTracker app said it was an untrackable number! I waited until the next day thinking maybe there was no tracking data yet and maybe that was the problem. Nope. I then opened the eBay app and was able to see that the cartridge was well into the USPS system. I then had an idea. In the OneTracker app I changed the title of the package from "Kaboom" to "Kab-oom". Guess what - the tracking data instantly populated! I can only guess that the app has blacklisted words and naming a package that could go 'boom' is forbidden. So strange! Well, I look forward to trying to catch numerous b-ombs on my TV screen very soon, thank you very much OneTracker.

Most Sold Video Games of All Time: 1989 - 2019
Knowcontrol replied to CadetStimpy's topic in Monkeys
That's incredible! What I found interesting is how during the age of game downloads the initial sales of most of those games started in the tens of millions and quickly surpassed physical games which I'm guessing is because of the accessibility to acquire them. -

I've been using LaunchBox/BigBox since July, 2021 and I have absolutely no regrets in purchasing the lifetime license. The continuous, ongoing development and improvements are worth every single penny. It's the perfect frontend for me for both on a laptop as well as running it through my TV for that 10-foot UI experience with BigBox. As you are aware, LB/BB are just frontends and the emulators are up to you to setup. With that said, yes, LB handles the emulators just fine - it's doing nothing more than running the executable software of the emulator. I personally use the following emulators: Wii U: Cemu GameCube: Dolphin Playstation 2: PCSX2 Playstation Portable: PPSSPP Sega Dreamcast: Redream (purchased) Playstation 3: RPCS3 Xbox: XEMU Switch: Yuzu Retro arcade games: MAME 0.241 Modern arcade games: Teknoparrot ...and finally.... Retroarch runs the cores for: Atari 2600 (stella), Nintendo 64 (mupen64plus_next), NES (nestopia - aka mesen), Game Boy Advance (mgba), Sega 32X (picodrive), Genesis (genesis_plus_gx), Saturn (mednafen_saturn), Playstation 1 (mednafen_psx_hw), SNES (mesen-s) There is no harm in trying out LB, it's free with some features disabled. Give it a go, get your emulators setup. Take it for a test drive. Watch the Unbroken Software YouTube channel as well as the ETA Prime YT channel for setup videos. If you like then make the purchase to help the developers continue the hard work. Most of all... have fun curating your retro gaming library!
