What format are you using (e.g. BIN/CUE, GDI, CHD, etc)?

To those interested, this is Microsoft's technical documentation why they made the monicker change from .Net Core to simply .NET - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/whats-new/dotnet-5

Which emulator?
-
Ah, .NET was Microsoft's attempt to eliminate the need for .NET Framework and .NET Core. They started doing this in .NET 5 but .NET 6 is the LTS version like 3.1. Microsoft will officially end its support for 3.1 on Dec 2022. Hence, updating to the new .NET 6 LTS is a good consideration if looking into the future. I recently updated my dev env from 3.1 to 6 at work and none of the code broke, so that looks promising haha. .NET 6 is backwards compatible with 3.1 is it not? Technically, the runtime doesn't necessarily have to be the same with the SDK it was written on.

Ah yeah, that wasn't mainly pointed at you but to tell people in general what the error message is about. Nonetheless, manually installing the runtime should be a universal solution for Win10/11 regarding this issue. Still, would be cool to know what exactly the OP did. I did say I would "personally" pick the SDK because I do code in C# (which I didn't imply the first time lol). For most end-users, the runtime is enough. Thought I'd tell the newbies the difference.

Way I handle avoiding dupes specially for screenshots mostly is to get all screenshots from Games DB then unchecking them in EmuMovies. Games DB has screenshots like 99.9% of the time so I just fall back to EmuMovies for flyers/boxes/3d boxes.

Based on his error message, I would suggest manually installing the .NET Runtime then the desktop version - https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet Personally, I'd go for the SDK since it has everything for dev purposes (including runtime) but may be a bigger install for those who just wants to run .NET apps. Eitherway should work. Leaving this for the newbies who may come across the same issue.

Thanks, I needed this explanation.

Allow partial keyword matches in Games DB search
k_rollo replied to k_rollo's topic in Website/Forum Support
Whoops sorry, was meaning to say the Games DB website because I was making some submissions. But now that you mention, LB is probably going to behave the same since it fetches from there. -
Again, I don't need it and I've been playing 8/16bit 2D platformers just fine for years. Never had a problem with that so no point fixing what isn't broken and possibly introducing new problems I never had in the first place haha. I know what I'm doing with emulator configs so I don't really need to rely on automatic integration. By the way, using RA cores for PSP, PS2, GameCube, and Wii generally isn't a good choice because the cores are late to receive updates/fixes from their upstreams. Having LaunchBox on top of standalones makes it just like any other unified frontend experience.

I have M64Plus FZ on Android but moved my N64 emulation on PC. Last time I checked, M64Plus didn't have a GUI on PC (let me know if you know one) so it was cumbersome to configure. I also can't stand RetroArch haha. Cores are almost always a step back from their upstreams. Been emulating for 17 years and never needed it, pretty sure I don't need it now. Everything just works with standalones, never had to fiddle with audio for anything. I use in-game control mappings when available, true to the original console. Troubleshooting RA, wrestling with cores and its weird quirks in general are something I can happily live without. And yes, I don't care about shaders (or bezels) but that's a subjective reason.

Searching for "alone dark nightmare" will return 0 results. You need to search for exact game title like "alone in the dark the new nightmare" or exact phrases as they appear in the title like "alone in the dark" to return results. Usually, search engines would allow partial string matches. Thanks.

Thanks to LaunchBox, I get to avoid the nagscreen altogether.

I love using LaunchBox with standalone emulators and glad it has manual configuration for them. Started with VisualBoyAdvance in 2005 so I'm good at tweaking them to my liking. Thanks. I found deleting the Images folder and just checking flyers/front/3D/screenshots faster.
