  1. @popy Wow, didn't expect you to jump on that straight away, but yeah, that'll be a good experience for you.
  2. @spycat I will look into that sorting issue with the categories. @Lmagnus87 Probably not worth adding that functionality into LaunchBox. That's more of an issue with your router configuration. @salyangel Where are you seeing it not return back to the right place in the wheel? @bundangdon You can add as many categories as you want; just edit them for each of the platforms using Tools > Manage Platforms.
  3. @CriticalCid @Maddoc1007 Just put out a new beta that should hopefully fix that Visual Studio issue. Thanks for bearing with me on that one. Also, Cid, good to know about LaunchBox; I haven't implemented the new music features for LaunchBox yet but that is planned. Makes sense about the categories in Big Box; I think I'm in agreement with you there Cid as well.
  4. @andyco47 @salyangel Could be because images are caching in the background, especially if the list is huge. It should get faster over time if that's the case. Otherwise, try switching to VLC for the video playback engine to see if that helps.
  5. Yes, the LaunchBox scraper is internal from the LaunchBox Games Database. There's also Wikipedia but of course it doesn't work nearly as well. Unfortunately adding more scrapers would require internal development unless someone wanted to just access the XML files directly.
  6. Alright, new beta is out guys that supports platform categories (groups) in LaunchBox only (so far): In theory, any recognized platforms should automatically have these new categories attached once the new beta is loaded up. You can customize the categories to be whatever you want by editing the platforms under Tools > Manage Platforms. You'll have to select "Platform Category" from the drop down on the top of the side bar to pull them up. I would say this is a start to the interface for nested filters in LaunchBox as well. It's a ways off, but in theory eventually we'll be able to use the same style of interface to filter by both Platform and Genre (for example), or even Platform Manufacture and Platform. I also cleaned up navigating with the keyboard or a controller in the sidebar to be a lot smoother so that it doesn't immediately try and repopulate every time you move to a new selection. Let me know how it's working for you guys. Now we just need to figure out how to do this in Big Box as well...
  7. @CriticalCid The music does support navigation using the new key and controller bindings for Next Track and Previous Track. However, there is no pause, currently. Great idea for a button combo to show/hide the OSD. I'll add that to my list. Same for subfolders; that should probably be just a recursive search.
  8. @kmoney Ah, good point. Added the folder creation to my list. @Maddoc1007 I still don't understand what's going on there, sadly. I wonder if @CriticalCid or any of the other theme developers have any ideas? Am I going insane here guys? @CriticalCid, do you have any issues editing things visually when opening up themes in Visual Studio in the latest betas? @popy I'll have to take a look at that at some point soon. It's difficult to figure out what the problem is without having one of those gamepads; you're saying the issue is that it scrolls through the list too quickly? At some point it's probably worth just buying a decent gamepad (like a 360 controller) rather than coming up with solutions for every single weird Chinese device. Thank you @Norfair; good to hear. @drtechnolust I'll look into those errors. Looks like maybe that theme isn't migration properly. Can you check to see if you have a 7.0.1.txt file in the CleanBG theme folder? If so, try deleting it and re-opening Big Box with the theme. Let me know if that fixes it.

Oh man, I believe it. Praying.
  10. Alright, new beta is out guys. I've put a lot of work into music-related stuff for Big Box in the last couple of days. There's now support for background music, full soundtracks, moving between tracks, and even an on-screen-display for the music tracks. Here's the full change log: - New Premium Feature: Background music is now supported in Big Box; simply place any background music tracks into the LaunchBox\Music\Background folder and enable it in the Big Box Sound options - New Premium Feature: Full soundtracks are now supported for games via m3u playlists in Big Box. Simply put the m3u playlist file into the music track field; you can switch between tracks using new keyboard mapping and controller button mapping options for Next Track and Previous Track. - New Premium Feature: Big Box now has an On Screen Display for music tracks - New Premium Feature: Big Box now has an option to prioritize music tracks over video audio; it's available in the Big Box Sound options - Fixed: The Big Box Fade transition wasn't always properly fading in and out when fading to empty content There are a bunch more options on the Sound page in Big Box to enable all this stuff. Keep in mind that you'll probably want to set the video volume to 0 if you enable background music. Let me know how it all goes.
  11. @ckp A lot of that is still up in the air. The automatic stuff will not download any images or media; you'll be left to do that manually with the Download Metadata wizard. To be honest, a lot of that is still in the discovery stage, so we'll work through those issues as we go. @billyc999 Thanks for the ticket on the dual disc syntax stuff. There are a ton of various syntaxes and we've covered most of them but there's always more. @Norfair I was able to replicate that issue and I think I have it fixed for the next beta (though I added a bunch more complicated stuff so it could use some more testing). @WolfRamiO I've seen some weird stuff with that too, with it for some reason taking an oddly long amount of time for the first videos to load, but only sometimes. I have that on my plate. We won't be adding any more video player options any time soon, as it's a major undertaking and two should be enough for now.
  12. @Maddoc1007 I'm a bit puzzled on that issue still as I can't seem to replicate it, even with the files you sent me. Everything works properly for me in Visual Studio with those themes. Maybe make sure you're editing the themes from inside the LaunchBox Themes folder? Visual Studio does need the EXE and DLL files from LaunchBox itself to be in place for it to work properly. @cormegaman I fixed a couple of the videos that had the wrong names on the server, so that should resolve TurboGrafx. I also swapped out the Super Nintendo one for the US version. We do indeed need a way to list the available videos and allow you to choose between them; I'm not quite sure what we're going to do there yet. @sagaopc Screenshots from Steam is a good idea, though probably not a high priority. We should put in a ticket for it though for sure. @popy I don't think anything we've just released would fix any issues with Bluetooth gamepads. @drtechnolust I am aware of that Documentation.pdf issue but it keeps slipping on me. I'll get to it here before 7.0.
  13. Hi @cammelspit, we do already use multiple cores, but there's always more that can be done. Oddly it's looking like it's taking an extra long time to load the game details specifically. I'm not sure why that is. Hopefully we can focus more on performance improvements here soon. Feel free to send me your Data folder so I can test with it. jason@unbrokensoftware.com

Thank you virtute! Personally, our family is looking to move to Colorado here soon so can always use prayer on that whole process. Can I pray for you in any way?
  15. What about non-MAME games though? That's another thing; not every game is supported by MAME or included in a MAME romset.
  16. @lordmonkus We plan to revamp custom filters to more of a playlists feature instead. That is planned.
  17. I'm still torn on this whole concept though. Honestly I've been back and forth since the beginning on Arcade stuff. I can't seem to make up my mind on anything. We've got several problems to solve: - Arcade *is* the platform name, but obviously it's too big to leave it by itself and is difficult to navigate at that size - Dividing up by emulator seems to make the most sense to me, but it bugs me because MAME, for example, is obviously not a platform - I do like Hyperspin's method of dividing up by developer/publisher, but I dislike the concept of having games in more than one "platform" at the same time - It's good that LaunchBox is flexible and allows any number of emulators per platform, but I do think the easiest thing is if there is one emulator per platform - Dividing up by developer/publisher may be nice for some people, but people who are not familiar with arcade games have no idea which games came out from which companies, so it's useless for them I think that's the gist of my thoughts here. Obviously there will never be a perfect solution but it would be really great if we could come up with a better solution than the existing ones (for example, Hyperspin's).
  18. I hadn't planned that, but that is an interesting thought. Perhaps once we clean up custom filters, we could add an option to include them in the platforms list.
  19. Hmm...the genre stuff is probably best tackled with one of the other new features planned for 7.0, nested filters. This is planned to allow you to filter the Arcade platform (for example) to a certain genre (for example). Or filter one list by another.
  20. Hey guys, partially due to James Baker's existing videos for Arcade platform divisions, I'm hoping to add an option to divide up Arcade into separate platforms for 7.0. Anyone have any suggestions as to the approach? I'm thinking of keeping the same general divisions as Hyperspin does currently. I could use a list of the arcade emulators that are typically used for each of those platforms. (Other than MAME, of course.)
  21. @audunv Try completely deleting the CriticalZone theme folder and then putting in the new files fresh. I think what's happening is that the 7.0.1.txt file is remaining in the folder (since you're only overwriting files) and thus it thinks the theme has already been upgraded.
  22. Hopefully Alex can get this fixed soon, yes, but Brad's right that scrapeability should be our #1 priority. It's super easy to mass fix all the Pokemon games with the correct character after we fix the scraping issue. That said, it's a multi-step process to really fix the issue. The database needs to be fixed as well as LaunchBox itself in order to recognize either one. In fact, I think we'll make a mass change to all of them in the database itself for now. This will bypass moderation completely. For now, please do not attempt to add back in the é.
  23. FYI guys, the deletion bugs should be fixed now thanks to @Vlansix, and all the games that had previously been approved for deletion should now be gone as well. We should finally be rid of that issue completely now. Three chears for @Vlansix!
  24. FYI guys, just cleaned up the remaining games that had been marked for deletion. So between @Vlansix's fix and the cleanup, we should finally be rid of this issue.
