Why? options and competition are good, i personally couldnt give a toss that i have to launch a game from the Epic client and not the Steam one, and ill take there free weekly game all day long.
-
Then you have a mis-configration somewhere, i dont keep my roms in the MAME folder, in fact i do not even keep them on the same hard drive and they work just fine.
-
I have deleted your other thread there is no need to post the same question twice. As for your question sounds like you are using a very old version of MAME. So you will need to go to Tools/Manage Emulators/MAME and remove the commandline there. You will however not be able to use the new pause screens with MAME if you remove this.
-
Yeah thats not true at all, but MAME does need to know your rom location as well for Launchbox to launch them.
-
No MAME roms should never be unzipped.
-
If the importer is running for a few hours then its definitely doing something, likely downloading all the media. Can you show some images please? Are you saying that after the import you have no arcade platform? Also are you using the MAME fullset importer?

This is not possible im afraid, if they are not installed there is nothing to import to Launchbox. The only way would be to import the setup files and rename them all, then if you did install one you would then have to edit that game in Launchbox to launch the shortcut instead of the setup file.
-
Unfortunately not, Launchbox only looks for new data when it is doing something that needs data, at least currently. However there is a option to manually check for metadata on the current poll if you want to vote on that.
-
It is mostly the customization features that are premium, nearly all of the main features are in the free version. Would you rather it was the other way around and you had access to customization features, but lacked actual features for importing and scraping your games? Probably not i'm guessing.

Suggestions for the poll are actually closed, all the suggestions that may be implemented are listed at the top of the page to be voted on. No more features/request will be added to this poll.

I dont get why this is needed, all emulators have a option for input and its usually as simple as clicking a button in the UI then pressing the button you want on your controller. I dont see why a frontend should have/need to handle this at all as its complicated to implement and has to be done on a per emulator basis. At the end of the day it would end up being very similar to what you already do inside of the emulator to set controls. So yeah, i dont get the need for it.
-
Nobody brought it up on the live stream, so i guess its a niche request.
-
Yeah i guess so, as long as it supports being launched from other apps via commandline i guess.
-
I know what it is but dont understand why its on the list. All it does is stream your desktop, much like Steam does, i dont see what integration is needed there, you can already use it to stream Launchbox/Bigbox to another PC.

Yeah that is really strange and not something i have ever seen before. I will pass this thread onto Jason to see if he has any ideas as to what the issue could be.
-
To be honest with you running Launchbox from a SD or USB stick isnt really a good idea. Those storage formats are designed for storage/transfers of files like images/movies/exe's and the like. The speeds you see advertised on those devices are continuouss wright/Read speeds for decently sized files. The speeds of random write/Reads are hugely slower, and that is what any program being run from one would be doing, constantly reading and writing files, as would any program. Its not just those specific things you mention like play date and count, every time you move the wheel to a different platform/game launchbox has to fetch the game info and all associated images and videos, and on a device of this type that has very slow 4K random read/write speeds thats going to be a issue. I would recommend just keeping the roms themselves on that sort of device as they are single files and are quicker to retrieve than random files of the program.

No images showing up when I boot Bigbox
neil9000 replied to thezombiehawk's topic in Troubleshooting
Your issue here is you are missing videos. Your first image should have a video of the highlited game in that black box. Game snap videos require a premium emumovies in order to download them from within Launchbox, so that is my guess for that one, you dont have emumovies premium, therefore no game videos. As for your second image, that view shows a fullscreen video in the background there, so it looks like you do not have any platform videos. You can get them from within Launchbox via Tools/Download platform/playlist theme videos. -
Not seen that before, it almost looks like that is a playlist and not a platform as it is saying no games found. Launchbox and Bigbox use the exact same file, so it makes no sense that a platform would work in one and not the other. Can you double check in the Bigbox options that you are in fact in Platform view?
-
You would need to copy those across, you can just highlite all the image type folders and paste them to the other platform and merging if prompted.

Big Box Platform Video Set per Theme
neil9000 replied to Andrewnintendo's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
You can add images and videos to the individual theme folders for them to be used by that theme only, you can just copy the file structure for normal images/videos. So for example put platform videos in Launchbox/Themes/Name of Theme/Videos/Platforms. -
The easiest way to do what you want would probably be to import them with slightly different platform names, this way you can import the games with the emulator version you want. Then after they are imported you can bulk edit them and change the platform. So you would import say Arcade and then import Arcade 2, when its imported with the different emulator associated you can click a game then CTRL A to highlite all the games, then right click edit to open the bulk edit wizard, choose platform from the dropdown then the platform to change to in the second dropdown.
