If you have a 0.240 romset, and the 0.240 emulator and games are not working then you have something wrong with your romset, unless one of two issues. 1. The games you are testing do not actually work in MAME ( there are hundreds, if not thousands of these in a full MAME romset) or 2. the games you tested need the CHD file which are not included in the normal romset. MAME is designed to only work with the correct romset and emulator, hence them being versioned. So mixing say a 0.180 romset with a 0.240 emulator version will absolutely have broken games in it, games are only ever guaranteed to work with the respective versions, so when even that isnt the issue then you have something seriously funky going on.

They are the same, they are only called Beetle in the UI, so when specifying the core in Launchbox choose the mednafene one.

What "version" did you download? Cause that is all you need and contains everything, and will work with version 0.240 of the MAME emulator.

Launchbox doesnt do anything with emulator controls, you need to set your controls in the actual emulator.

Yes, as long as you have the rom and the correct emulator, and a USB dance mat i guess. Launchbox doesnt support actual games, that is down to the emulator which you add to Launchbox, Launchbox will play anything as long as there is a emulator that supports command line that supports the game you want to play.

Well you do need to have al the games in the playlist, so other users ones may not be the best idea, however all you do is with Launchbox closed put them in the Launchbox/Data/Playlist folder.

Like any theme, most things you want to tweak/remove, need you to edit the actual theme. Themes are very important to us, as is the development of them, that is why our theming is open and uses the XAML coding language. We have some options in the Bigbox/Options for some more default things, but a lot of choices made in themes are intentional, and literally "coded" that way, so would require knowledge, to change them. What you want is surely possible, but not by me unfortunately, it needs a actual person who understands XAML.

This is likely limited to your PC, and is being caused by specific software/hardware and not a bug with Launchbox at all (i dont have this issue myself for example). Things you can test, turn off the startup/shutdown screens, as well as the pause screens if you are using them and see if that helps. You dont do anything with the CHD's in Launchbox, but you do need to tell MAME where they are if you are not keeping them in the default mame/roms folder in the mame emulator folder.
