  2. You did it again! Fixed! Thanks man
  3. Ps Are all transitions set to 'none' in bigbox settings and background images all unchecked within Launchbox settings/image priorities? Might free up a lot of loading time and make room for the videos to be loaded.
  4. Those are my thoughts exactly, thats why I wonder if they would work in launchbox(.next) if not it sure could be thats the core of the problem, don't know if a (real) high speed USB3 stick would be the solution in this case, I thought I bought a high speed 128gb USB3 stick once, it was quite cheap and it was from Sandisk but it's still a slow turtle compared to usb3 external hdd's.
  5. So they do work on Launchbox(.next)?
  6. Is the usb stick fast enough? I mean could it be it's stuggling to get them to load perhaps and give it some time? Have you checked if the videos load from the usb drive in launchbox (or launchbox.next) itself to see if they work/are linked correctly? If they dont work in there it could be you need to set the right video directory in launchbox(.next).
  7. I havent read this thread completely so if I give some advice that has been mentioned before i'm sorry, but what worked for me is disabling all transitions (set to none within big box) and in image priorities within launchbox unchecking all backgrounds, I just noticed while working on a theme when I remove the line of code responsible for the background placeholder it speeds up greatly, seems the loading time for backgrounds is taking longer than other placeholders, I do still have a platform background image for each list but it seems to cause slowdown as well even though it is the same image (not sure atm if I can disable this image as well somewhere in the settings so perhaps there wont be any need for removing the code manually)
  8. Thanks man The native res of the marquee monitor is 2560x1080, it's an ultra wide screen from LG. I have set the monitors on extended (My windows is in dutch but I'm sure its the same, only have clone options as another choice) the monitor screen is placed above the 49 inch UHD (4k) TV in physical form and in the screen settings, have tried putting the monitor layout side by side in settings, does not make a difference. Something else I noticed is when trying to switch the screens with button combo windows+shift+direction within bigbox it does switch the primary screen to the marquee monitor (aspect ratio is kept so I see part of the desktop wallpaper on the right side) and depending on dpi settings (system & system extended or application & turned off dpi) I can then get the marquee window to the 4k screen in the 'working combination (not preferred)' but with the 'not working combination' I can't switch the primary on the second monitor back to the main (4k) screen, it gets stuck on the marquee screen, I then have to change the screen order in bigbox options to get primary back to the 4k screen. It's as if the marquee window screen doesn't want to stick/open to the marquee monitor and gets stuck on the primary screen behind the primary big box window, as if somewhere within bigbox, directx?, net framework or driver does not compute. I'm out of ideas by now, don't feel like rolling back nvidia driver to a year ago, i'm a bit afraid of other problems on the emulation end or other system errors and not sure if it would work or not thus not willing to take the risk of messing around on this fresh system.
  9. Ps the 4k screen is indeed UHD 3840x2160 (wish it was red! xD)
  10. Thanks for thinking along much appreciated! I tested your theory of total aspect ratio by switching the 2560x1080 monitor to 1920x1080, it behaves in the same way: no activity in Bigbox on the monitor. I do think that it's all valid edid hand shaked as windows itself does work on the 4k and 2560 monitor, if it works in windows it should in Bigbox right? The DVI-HDMI cable is a DVI-D Dual Link, the gpu connector is the same. Specs for gtx 1050 gpu on: "Max Resolution: 7680x4320@60Hz (Digital)". Situation: 4K monitor is set to 200% dpi scaling, 2560 set to 100%, switching these does not change things. Combination working (not preferred): Bigbox shortcut Compatibility/DPI set to System or System (extended) gives bigbox 4k screen lower res (seems to be 1080 res) and marquees work on 2560 monitor. Combination not working: Bigbox shortcut Compatibility/DPI set to Application or turned off Dpi settings, it does give 4k resolution in bigbox but the marquee screen only shows the windows desktop, marquee window while set to screen 2 in settings is displayed beneath bigbox window on same primary monitor (4k) able to see while using alt-tab.
  11. I'm having the same problem as well with my new pc, at first everything seemed fine, until I took a close look using the image viewer within big box, it wasn't 4K it was displaying but more like 1080p, I compared the high res images I was viewing with the originals. When I switch different dpi settings on the shortcut to bigbox I can get the primary monitor to display 4k but then the marquee screen will not work, going through marquee screen settings within bigbox does not show anything happening on the marquee monitor. When switched to one of the system dpi settings the monitor does work but primary is lower res again. Before this I also noted the monitor numbers where switched in bigbox, had primary on 2 and marquee on 1, I fixed this by turning the marquee screen off in nvidia settings and bigbox saw it as number 1 again, after that the marquee screen can be set on number 2 again. The marquee screen is 2560x1080 connected to dvi to hdmi cable. The 4k tv is connected to hdmi, both are connected to a nvidia gtx 1050 @Jason Carr Do you have any knowledge what could cause this problem? It's not something of utmost urgency but would like to see images in 4k glory in the future in bigbox working together with a marquee screen.
  12. Let us know if it helped, so others with the same problem can be helped. Might also try a lower transition duration if that setting is available (not sure as i'm not in big box atm). Or switch video renderer between wmp or vlc.
  13. Try to set all transitions to "none" in big box settings? Seems it goes black during a transition. It helped me to speed up loading videos in the past, not sure if it helps your problem but worth a try.
  14. @Dan I haven't forgotten about the theme just so you know but was in a transition to a new and faster system, the theme works well now on this new system at least for smaller playlists, the 7000 arcade game list is still slow though lol, it needs a lot of downsizing still, so i'll work on it some more to release a somewhat decent and more finished theme, I can't promise a date though, have a lot going on in real life atm and some side projects but know it'll be released, at least this year!
  15. @Jason Carr Damn, sorry bro but the issue returned, Arrange by is now in Dutch again. I really hate to keep bringing you this news on the matter, hope it won't take you too much work, for me this issue is no problem though. See the screenshot, edit, in case you where unaware, check out amount of games in the below bar, it's also in dutch.
  16. @Jason Carr You did it man! I switched back and forth between .Next and Big Box and the game details where being kept completely in English, I also tried out something else with the "None, Exists" issue, this time I removed () for 'None' and 'Exists' and that seems to do the trick to let them be 'stuck' in English. At the start of the testing I saw that the "Arrange by" menu was in Dutch, I made a screenshot of this so I could show it to you but had some problems with this screenshot capture software (older software which required some windows dpi compatibility settings, it crashed a few times and I had to re-login before the dpi settings would really be set but I didn't as it could wait, I probably should have re-logged in) which was unrelated to .Next or Big Box, I then wanted to check if the arrange by menu issue would change by switching to Big Box I did so by using the Bigbox button in the main menu of .Next (normally I use direct shortcuts to the exe files in windows taskbar), when exiting out of Big Box my system crashed, I suspect it was because of the issues with the other software on the background. When force-quitting windows I started .Next and got a message that some element was corrupt, after an inspection of the xml files I found that settings.xml and bigboxsettings.xml had "null" all over the files in notepad++ luckily there where some auto backups made a minute before the crash and I could fix it easily. The funny thing is that the arrange by menu is in English now lol so everything seems to be fine & fixed! I'm sorry for the large description but I guessed the details could help you in case you want to re-construct an issue.
  17. Sweet! I'll try to check out the beta tomorrow and will let you know how it went @Jason Carr
  18. Cheers bro
  19. Everything in the transition to the new system worked out great! I've decided not to complicate things too much and as a test put all folders including the Launchbox software folder on the new drive instead of splitting the software to the ssd and the data to the 4TB drive and it's running like a dream! So I don't even need to move the software to the SSD, it was all a breeze to do so, Retroarch didn't need any change and in Mame I just had to change 2 paths. Finally I can play those Mame 3D games without any lag (they where running mostly at 1 frame per second or something, not playable and now i'm speeding down mountains in Real time in Alpine Racer for instance) and everything I wished for above like 4K res with overlays, shaders and the ultra wide screen marquee monitor in 2560x1080 all worked out as I hoped it would. Hell I am now even able to have Launchbox.next autoplay video's, it may sound weird but I'm so incredibly happy with all of this as before my crappy low end system couldn't do all those heavier things without lag or at all, now I can finally get back to working on my game library, making new marquees and working out the theme I was working on. Thanks so much for everything @DOS76 @Jason Carr @Kondorito! Couldn't have done it without your advice! Have a great day on your side of the planet.
  20. Thanks bro!
  21. My favorite channels for some time are Game Sack and the Game Chasers, great channels with a lot of humor as well.
  22. I'm in the middle of the system transition now (happy happy, joy joy!!!) I bought a Toshiba 7200rpm 4TB with 128mb buffer, seems to be pretty fast with 190mb/s transfer speeds. Everything went well up to this point. Now I do want to do this right from the start as I'm a bit worried to screw anything up in the configuration. My plan is to put the Games, Images and Videos folders on this new drive (G:) and put the rest of the Launchbox installation on the (C:) drive, I can't find any xml settings where I can change these folder paths and am a bit afraid to start Launchbox in case it'll change things around automatically when not finding certain folders or anything similar. Anyone able to give me some advice on this matter?
  23. That's a lot of MEGA POWER! (with echo sound fx)
  24. I've spend more time testing out the issue to give you more details: I haven't changed the language settings (keeping it set on English), but did change the text from auto translated dutch to English manually in the general/side bar settings. I have narrowed it down (I hope): It isn't at system restart that it reverts to Dutch but when launching Bigbox and going back again to Launchbox.next (haven't tried regular Launchbox but am sure it has the same problem) now it does not revert "All" to Dutch again, that one stays in English, but it does revert "(None)" and "(Exists)" back to Dutch, maybe it's the () characters that cause the problem somewhere in the code? Edit: ps "Exists" isn't translated well, it says "Uitgangen" which is translated from "Exits", it should be "Bestaat", on a side note. The new Beta (8.4.6) fixed the right-click menu language and even the right column with game details was in English. Thanks man But while I was typing this I tried to do the same in the above step; Going to Bigbox and going back to Launchbox.next it reverts back to Dutch on some menu's: Right clicking games in the main list is now still in English (this one seems to be fixed completely!), the game details column to the right has reverted back to dutch (not all row titles are in dutch though, but as you said you are still working on this one), right clicking menu on the left category/platforms column is reverted back to Dutch as well. I've attached below screenshots in case it might assist you to get an overview: Thanks for all your hard work and have a great weekend as well!
