Working PDF/Manual viewer + works with Big Box + controller! TUTORIAL
Lordmonkus replied to KUPOkinz's topic in Features
Yeah, that's the same program available on Steam so that link is going to have to stay removed for copyright reasons. If you want to edit your first post to modify the instructions you can and I will add a link to this guide to the "Guides & Tutorials" thread. -

Can you show me a screenshot of the software on your system ? -
Working PDF/Manual viewer + works with Big Box + controller! TUTORIAL

Is this the same version of Controller Companion as on Steam or is this a true freeware version ? I have removed the download link for now until you can show me that Controller Companion that you linked to is not the same version from Steam. If this is not the same version and is legal to share it then you can re-add the link. -
Lol, maybe you should learn the names of people when you want to name drop them. Now locking this thread.
-
You mean James Baker ? And he's not an admin.
-
No, you are just an arrogant douche bag thinking you are some how magnanimous. And who the hell is "Martin" ? Jason is the Launchbox dev and owner of the business. You don't even know who you are wanting to do business with.
-
Lol, you are laughable. I normally would never proclaim to speak for Jason as he doesn't need me to but in this case I am quite confident in stating he would never work with you. You can call it "grey area" all you want but selling roms is not a legal grey area whatsoever, it is pure black and white illegal. You are the asshole that gives emulation a bad reputation so piss off.
-
You can justify it all you want but it doesn't change the fact that what you do is illegal, nothing to do with politics as you seem to want to call it. I am quite sure Jason would never want anything to do with you and be associated with someone doing something so blatantly illegal as selling roms you do not have the legal rights to which would in turn get Jason into legal troubles. You may not give a fuck about breaking the laws but Jason does.
-
You can easily separate them out. You can either do it through the use of playlists or you can edit the games and change their platform (either individually or using t he bulk edit tool). You would then have the 2 platforms setup in the emulators "Associated Platforms" window.
-
There is a lot of gray area when it comes to emulation but making any money off of other peoples work is most certainly not a gray area at all.
-
No problem, that's one of those features that different games behave differently with. Some games are fine with it while others don't like it.
-
Options > General At the bottom you can set the framerate to match your displays. That's the only thing I can think of to try.
-
Set PGXP operation mode to memory only, some quick testing fixed it for me.

Ok, I had a toy around with this system and I got it working with Mess. I use a stand alone version of Mess 177 which is before they merged it back into Mame because it was the easiest way I found to have it work. You don't need any bios files for it and you only need the command line parameter for it: mess gx4000 -cart Brad did a tutorial video for Mess to emulate the Atari 5200 which should cover everything you need, simply replace the command line with the one above.
-
You need to download the cheats using the content downloader in RA and then enable them in the core options if the core supports them.
-
Well once you get the money and make it good with Jason we'll be here to help you out. Locking the thread now that the issue has been figured out.
-
Or you know you could actually pay @Jason Carr for it and chaulk it up as a lesson learned.
-
You paid for it ? Yeah you got ripped off, that is a known pirated license.
-
In your license.xml file does it have the name Jack Brierley ?
-
You don't need a playlist file but it does make life a bit easier and since you are using Retroarch you can swap disks using the "quick menu", there is an option in there to swap disks.
-
Are you pointing to the .cue or the .bin file in Launchbox for the game ? It should be the .cue.

My Arcade Build: Big Box & Virtual Reality
Lordmonkus replied to Hoakypoaky's topic in Collections and Builds
I like the Wii version cause it looks great and you have it hard more like the arcade or easy mode with the prompts. Yes. Yeah I cannot say how easy or difficult this will be, it will most likely just depend on a game by game basis. The tutorial videos are still very much valid. Once you get the hang of the basics it will make sense and be simple enough. Here is a post where I try and add links to tutorials and guides here on the forums. Yeah, you can do this, there should be lots of guides out there on the net showing how to rip your own games. Yeah, it's very unlikely that there is something that isn't found in the usual places. -
Cool, glad you got it sorted.

My Arcade Build: Big Box & Virtual Reality
Lordmonkus replied to Hoakypoaky's topic in Collections and Builds
Same here. Laserdisc games will use the Daphne emulator but unfortunately that is a bit of a pain in the ass to setup. Though if all you really care about is Dragon's Lair 1 & 2 and Space Ace the Dragon's Lair Trilogy for the Wii is easily setup and plays great. For the vast majority of arcade games you will use Mame, either the stand alone version or Retroarch core is fine. Which one you use will come down to personal preference, I like the stand alone version myself. All the stuff in this time I suggest and recommend Retroarch. PCSX2 emulator for PS2 and PPSSPP for PSP. Most HD space will be taken up by the CD and DVD based console games, those disk images get fairly big. This is certainly doable and using your arcade controls shouldn't be much work at all, especially if your arcade stick is detected as an Xinput controller. If it is something like the X-Arcade it may take a little more effort to setup because it is not detected as an Xinput controller but rather as a keyboard. Retroarch is a multi emulator but RocketLauncher is mainly a backend for HyperSpin but can be used with Launchbox for more advanced features. I personally don't use or like RocketLauncher but there are others around here that do. If you decide you want it you will have to look at learning how to set it all up and I won't be able to help you with it. Definitely the best way to approach it. That will depend on the system. For Mame and cartridge based consoles it is the easiest. The Mame roms work it is easiest to just get the whole set because how parent and clone roms work along with bios files, it becomes a real mess trying to pull out individual games with its required parents. Cartridge based consoles rom sets a very small and easy to get full sets, when looking for them search for "No-Intro" sets. These sets have all the games without all the extra fluff of "GoodSets". CD based game sets though get to be quite large in size so for those I recommend just getting the games you know you want to play. If unsure of games look at some videos on youtube of "top games lists" Metal Jesus and Gamesack have some great videos showcasing a lot of games to get you started out. Primarily this will be done in the emulators themselves and no it wont be on a game by game basis. With Mame though you can set up a "default" controller set up but of course due to the nature of arcade games this wont always be ideal and you can and will tweak some individual games controls. Launchbox does nothing with the games controls. Some rare instances of this may be required such as with Daphne for laser disk games but it really is the rarity rather than the norm.
