You can stream bigbox to your Shield TV using Nvidia Gamestream. My only problem with this is that it introduces quite a bit of latency. Having tried a bunch of front ends on android though, I do agree nothing there holds a candle to launchbox/bigbox. Edit: I actually gave up on front ends and just the Retroarch UI for the most part now, at least for 32 bit systems or less. Standalone emulators seem to stagger the CPU much less than RA cores for things like PPSSPP and Nintendo DS.

I'm not totally sure this is the problem, but in the retroarch/input menu there is an option for "analog to digital" or something similar. Set that to left stick, it might give you analog control over the menu, and it will give you the option to use analog instead of the Dpad in game. No problem! I'm glad you got it working. I messed with it a little bit yesterday, and also ran into a few problems with Retroarch. It gave me a selectable "Ninendo Switch Pro" controller, which did nothing because I was using Rewasd xinput wrapper. So I had to manually switch it to Xbox 360 in the input menu. I... the part in the above dev's message about hiding the switch pro controller, I think I did, but retroarch seems to see it anyway. Or I clicked too fast and didn't actually hide it, so Retroarch now sees two controllers when my Switch Pro is connected. I'll tackle all that later haha.

Rewasd can start automatically with windows, it's always in my tray. You can also set up different profiles to start automatically on a per exe basis (Xpadder for sure also does this, but to my knowledge no xinput wrapper, though it might be worth investigating further as I haven't used it in ages). Personally, depending on how well this works I'm going to invest in probably 2 maybe 4 extra pro controllers just for retrogaming haha. So I'm glad to hear they stay synced unless you manually intervene. I've been trying to find a wireless solution with an awesome D-pad and Analog for like 8 years haha. Maybe this will be the answer. I'm going to go ahead and paste what the Rewasd sent me when I asked, for reference: Hello! Once you install reWASD, its driver helps register the controller in the system properly. That is about DirectInput: so the games that support DirectInput will see Switch Pro without any additional software. If you need XInput, I advise you to use our Virtual Xbox 360 controller for reWASD. To enable it, pick any Switch Pro button (let's say Home) and map it to Home from Xbox controller in reWASD mapping section (you will need to scroll a lot, virtual contoller buttons are at the end of the list). Then, press Apply and choose "Yes, hide my gamepad" in the confirmation that you will see. After that, your controller will operate as usual Xbox 360, so any game that sees XInput will work with it.

The main problem you're having is that those controllers are D-input, and you need them to be X-input. I'm actually thinking of converting to the Switch Pro controller soon; as I just bought a blue tooth dongle specifically for that. It's a great, versatile controller. A free option you have is to get https://www.x360ce.com/ This program will essentially transform your D-input controllers into X-input controllers (should work for both of the above mentioned controllers). It will essentially make windows think your Switch Pro controller is an Xbox 360 controller. In this way, you will have native support in all programs that use X-input, which is most at this point, MAME included. There are a few problems as I see them, and I haven't made the switch yet as I want to do more research. The first problem is I don't know what kind of functionality the Switch Pro has on windows yet (as in does it support gyro etc.) I'm pretty sure using the above program would nullify that support if it exists(but not totally sure, I haven't tried yet) Secondly, you're set up using steam basically to get around D-input limitations. This might not cause any problems, but switching your controller to xinput might force you to change how you have launchbox set up through steam (again, not sure). Another option, it isn't free, but its the one I use/will use for this is Rewasd: https://www.rewasd.com/ This is a program originally designed for remapping xinput (similar to xpadder and joy2key), or mapping keyboard functions to xinput buttons, but in my opinion lightyears better than both. I actually use this program in place of Steam mappings (which are admittedly really awesome). Recently they just released support for the switch pro controller. I just got confirmation from them that not only do they support D-input switch pro controller, they have a virtual xbox remapper (x-input wrapper) as well, which means you can do both D-Input and X-input in the same program. Hard for me to recommend a best method at this point as I haven't done the setups yet, but this should give you enough to think about. I'll post more as I learn more. I've been using the Xbox Elite controller which is just basically easier than using D-input controllers on windows. Actually, I want to ask you a question if that's alright? I have my computer and nintendo switch in the same room on the same TV. Perhaps as a result... my PC didn't seem to be seeing the Pro Controller via bluetooth when I tried it a couple days ago (that's actually why I didn't go further with it) I'm thinking having the switch in here is causing interference? Is there a way to have both in the same room while still keeping a pro controller dedicated only to the PC, so that the Switch doesn't steal control over it?

To broaden this list a bit, you're definitely going to want MAME standalone, but not just for arcade/mame roms. It's good to have for stuff like Aamber Pegasus, as to my knowledge, MAME and MESS are the only emulators which emulate it. MAME now emulates a ridiculous amount of systems, so for obscure stuff its often best to start there, and I'm not going to list all the systems I use MAME for here. But to broaden the list in case you ever want to get into lesser used systems where mame either isn't an option or isn't the best: RPCEmu - Acorn Archimedes PRoject Tempest - Atari Jaguar CD (This barely works) Snes9x (standalone) - Bandai Sufami Turbo WinVice - Commodore 16 / Vic 20 etc. DICE - Dice games (some of the oldest games that exist, think pong) Flash Player Projector - Flash Games Dosbox - Microsoft MS Dos including exo's set and win3xo set BlueMSX - Microsoft MSX/MSX2/ Spectravideo T98-Next - NEC PC-9801 Demul - Sega Hikaru

Newer versions of MAME will indeed run non-mame roms including .col roms. You CAN get this to work in the RA version of MAME as well, but the process is way too involved as I understand it, right down to probably having to rename your roms. I have this working through rocketlauncher, which doesn't require any command lines. The problem is, because I use RL I don't know exactly how to get this working through Launchbox/MAME. But I think I can point you in the right direction. You have to add a command line to the "Associated Platforms" of the Emulator. Under Default Command Line Parameters. However, I've tried a few variations of: coleco -cart with no success, so someone who uses Launchbox/MAME will have to fill in the rest. EDIT: This would be the website where you get the command line info - I'm not sure how exactly to translate it into launchbox: https://pastebin.com/18W3EbD0

I have a very limited understanding of how Launchbox actually finds steam games, I think it may look for shortcuts in a certain windows folder? At any rate, you can drag the exe of the game directly into launchbox to import the ones it misses. It's not a fix, just a workaround but as I said I don't know enough about how launchbox finds steam games to say more.

Is this only for certain emulators as configured in RL? I turned off fade in RL but it's still my "emulator" in launchbox and for Retroarch, at least, I haven't had a single focus issue. In fact, if I turn on fade in both places, the launchbox fade in appears, and then the final few moments of my RL fade appears (But I have it set to a longer time to play a bunch of still frames), and then the emulator. If I turn off fades in both places, everything still works as intended. In other words, I can't break this if I try. Everything works no matter the combination. I said all this to say maybe another option in the LB startup menu is what's giving people problems? I only turn on the startup and exit screen there. Keep everything else like window hiding etc. unticked.

Thanks for uploading them to the DB. That's even cooler of you! Yeah I've just been doing some reading as of the last forum post I could find, Mods shouldn't be added to the LB database, so that's probably why it isn't there. But thanks for making my personal setup look even better!

Dude, that's awesome. Thank you so much! Do you mind if I upload it to the LB database?

If you're still doing this, how about this one? It's a pretty excellent mod for the original Amnesia.

Is it possible to have multiple installs of an emulator like pcsx2?
fromlostdays replied to Tatts4Life's topic in Emulation
Not totally sure if this works as I haven't tested, but apparently you can make PCSX2 portable by creating a portable.ini in the root folder. This should allow you to have two separate installs that don't interfere with each other. Edit, if that works, just create a second instance of the emulator in launchbox called PCSX2(Japan) or something, and you should be good to go. -
BigBox + Steam Link + Wired Xbox 360 ctrl. Help needed
fromlostdays replied to Rangdazzlah's topic in Noobs
I haven't been able to get it to work with launchbox/bigbox either. But, you can just add the emulator directly to steam. I added retroarch to steam, and am able to play games through steamlink that way. However, I don't because even wired (ethernet) the input lag is quite bad on my wireless xbox one controller. -
This forum isn't for pointing people to roms, but it does sound like that was your problem. The roms should be in .ISO format. You can check a file's format by right clicking it in windows and selecting properties. it should say ".iso". If they are in ISO format, you should be good to go. Just reimport one into launchbox (you can just drag the iso into the LB screen) and from there you can tell LB to move them into the games folder. If you move them manually to folder after import, launchbox will be looking in the wrong place. It's not a difficult system to get running provided you have the games and bios. .GZ is another acceptable format for PCSX2, by the way. But if that's the format, don't unzip them. Always test your games in the emulator itself before importing to launchbox, for a lot of reasons. The main reason though is if you need help its easier to troubleshoot if we know that the problem is with the emulator and not launchbox. Edit: Oh and welcome to the fray! It can seem a little daunting at first, but once you get the fundamentals you'll be smooth sailing.

Go into launchbox, right click one of your ps2 games, and click "edit". Copy the rom path which should pop right up, and paste it here.
-
Could be a few things going on. Firstly, you mean you have PCSX2 set up as an emulator in launchbox, correct? Secondly, you imported some ISO PS2 roms into launchbox (not cue files if there are any) Thirdly, you didn't move or rename the roms after importing into launchbox? Lastly, you're not trying to run zip files, are you? Edit: With these kinds of questions it helps to be as specific as you can.

Remove games not associated with a system
fromlostdays replied to swimminginthoughts's topic in Troubleshooting
In launchbox, select the "All" platform. Go to to the Menu/View, and select "List View". This should bring up a view that no longer shows box art, and will allow you to sort by "platform" at the top. Sort by platform. Scroll until you find the games with no associated platform, (theyll just be blank under platform in list view) shift highlight all of them, right click and select "Delete". Should be what you need. EDIT: Sorry, I said Menu/Tools. I meant Menu/View. Fixed in OP. This could probably be done in XML, but I'm not personally sure how. -
Remove games not associated with a system
fromlostdays replied to swimminginthoughts's topic in Troubleshooting
If you're just wanting to get rid of them, why not delete them completely? You should be able to use "List View", sort by platform, and bulk delete them all. -
I don't think this is an issue. Can you be more specific about what is actually happening? Are you going to import steam games, putting in your API and not seeing the games in the list that comes up? What are the game names?

Startup Screens, Pause Screens, and Bezels Discussions
fromlostdays replied to Jason Carr's topic in News and Updates
Personally, I have become a performance junkie over time. I wouldn't use anything that has the possibility of introducing more input lag. Thank Mike Tyson's Punchout for that. But, it wasn't always so, and I don't have an actual arcade cabinet. If I did, ever do, I'd probably want the most seamless transitions possible, and all the bells and whistles even at a performance cost. But that is just personal opinion. I'm not very technically savvy, but it sounds like if I were you I'd approach these things thusly: 1: Make sure everything is optional (don't lock people in one way or the other) 2: Begin by implementing the features that will work with exclusive fullscreen 3: Create the optional features that require windowed To answer the overall question, neither bezels or fade are particularly important to me personally. Again, it wasn't always so, but fades just add to emulator launch times, and I also find bezels distracting (though again if I had a mame cab, I'd want mame bezels, the emulator supports this so no biggie). The feature that would be most important to me is Pause. A lot of the features I love about Pause are already offered in launchbox/bigbox, like built in pdf viewer for manuals and guides etc. But: Being able to fill out the pause screen with custom music, art etc. It's fun to just build that for games I really like, and the artists of the community tend to go off in the best way when features like that become available. Being able to save and load states from Pause (the absolute best feature in my opinion) Being able to change discs via Pause Hi Scores in pause (Would be awesome to view achievements there too, and RL doesn't do that). Just my two cents. -
Hi everyone, Just a thought, but is there a way to have the Platform Video continue to play while scrolling through games? The Big Box Cinematixs videos are too good, and I don't spend much time at all scrolling through platforms. Having them play continuously during game scrolling, and then having the game video play only when you click into game view would be awesome. I'm not completely sure if this is tied into themes... currently using Critical Zone v2 with the full screen videos on the background/wheel view if that matters. Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm pretty sure if you set the image type in launchbox, it'll keep it in bigbox even for playlists. So you could try opening launchbox, changing it from "platform" to "playlist" view on the top left. Select a playlist, then on the top right set the image type to whatever you want. Youll also be able to see how much of each type of media you have. Then just open bigbox and see if it saved the preference. Like I said, I'm pretty sure this works at least for playlists you create, as I have all my playlists using wheel art but the systems the games are pulled from use boxes. But as stated above, mame doesn't really have boxes, usually defaults to flyers or whatever and honestly they don't look all that good as they can be different sizes.
