Rocketlauncher + WinUAE + Launchbox
fromlostdays replied to polygonslayer's topic in Troubleshooting
Wait... are you using WinUAE as your emulator in launchbox... If you are, and you're using Rocketlauncher, you should be using Rocketlauncher as your emulator. -
Thanks Alec and Zomb. This is incredible work and re-engergizing my love for some ps2 games. You we're both right. Downscaling and then signing out/in made the mouse work (but the Y key is a perfectly fine workaround now that I know it worked) Launched Silent Hill 3 and its definitely using zomb's config. AND THE SHADOWS ARE CORRECT WHILE BEING ABLE TO AMP THE RESOLUTION UP. Fromlostdays comes from a song on the silent hill 3 soundtrack so I'm really excited. I see you just did Galerians: Ash too which is admittedly a bad game that I love haha. Thanks again ya'll. Everything is in working order.

I know I probably screwed something up, but I'm catching hell getting the plugin to work. If I right click and select "config" (exmple silent hill 3) zombeavers script pops up and asks if I want to download optimized settings. I can't interact with this window with the mouse at all. Can't click yes, no or X. But I read that it works with keyboard keys so I click Y, and the script disappears and PCSX2 opens. I don't know if it downloaded the configs or not. (incidentally, this isn't scaling issue, as I put mine down to %100 percent to test). The next time and all subsequent times I've clicked "config" for silent hill 3, PCSX2 opens, and that's all that happens. I've tested it with a dozen games. The plugin seems to only open the emulator. I know I probably screwed something up, but I can't imagine what it could be.

You shouldn't *have* to rename games for either RocketLauncher or Launchbox. Rocketlauncher launches whatever you tell it to (in the xml). If you downloaded the hyperspin.xml for ps1... MOST sets don't match it as its no-intro naming. I actually did rename all my ps1 games to match it, but it takes forever. If you want to skip that, just have rocketlauncher create an xml based on your rom path. It'll launch all games as they are currently named (provided the cue files coincide with the file names as mentioned above) Depending on what set you're using, launchbox might not identify all of the games because of how they are named. In truth, scrolling through the set in launchbox and fixing the ones that haven't synced will probably be fasted than renaming 400, or god forbid 1400 bin and cue files.

Getting the smaller more vague emulators running - Acorn ARCHIMEDES
fromlostdays replied to cleverest's topic in Emulation
I have it running through Arculator. Finding the right bios was a pain. -
After 8 years in the retrogaming scene, I just played my first atari 8bit game. Thanks Zomb!
-
I'm going to have to mess with it more. It doubled the size of the first episode of DBZ haha.
-
I didn't try it as I'm wanting to test with a few individual files first. Seems like that would have been it. Sorry for blowing up this thread like this, but I'm not seeing hevc as an option. Only mp4 and mkv... testing this on an mkv file. Does the original filetype matter Neil?
-
Actually, when you click "open source" it gives you the option to "open file" or "Folder (Batch Scan)". Pretty sure the latter is for doing multiple files.
-
Well there goes my Saturday. Thanks guys!
-
You're doing them one at a time?
-
Thats awesome! I have launchbox on a SSD so this could save me a ton of space. Do you think the compressed videos would work in plex? I'm thinking of 50 gig animes I have.
-
They are still playable in vlc etc. in compressed state? It should be noted I know next to nothing about video files*

Renaming tools: Place to find XMLs: Hyperspin Place to find Dats: Dat-O-Matic With XML or DAT: Don's Hyperspin Tools, Rom Renamer Clrmamepro Without XML or DAT: Bulk Rename Utility (Ultimately the most useful renaming tool for both roms and art, and pretty much anything else) Bit of a learning curve. FatMatch Music, TV, Movies (Since I'm listing): FileBot (if you're a plex user, now works with the {plex} tag for video and music, and its incredible) Mp3Tag Edit: Media Center Master (Awesome little program that scrapes media, and pulls everything you could need for setting up media platforms in launchbox (though its not affiliated), including background, trailers, and even clear logos) In terms of finding art for all those games, I'm pretty sure that's impossible for every game. But it is a worthwhile endeavor. Now LaunchBox has a bunch of plugins to help with that as well. But someone else should make that list. Let me know if you have any questions about any of the above programs, and goodluck!

retroarch Zombeaver's Retroarch PSX and Saturn Overrides
fromlostdays replied to Zombeaver's topic in Emulation
Went ahead and redid the entire thing. No chance of my files mingling this time. Also kept the .opt files and tried to honor regions, and included a bunch more of the actual configs. Only a few missing now, as noted above. -
retroarch Zombeaver's Retroarch PSX and Saturn Overrides
fromlostdays replied to Zombeaver's topic in Emulation
Honestly those are the only two games I play a lot, and I saw those two game names with three files in there when I merged your cfgs (before I was thinking about sharing the renames). Two of them were .ort (maybe .opt) files which I deleted before zipping the above, as I don't know what they are. The chrono cross one must have been the only survivor. It did also just occur to me that I prioritized USA. This is something else to note for people who prefer other versions of the games. Again, not for everyone, but might save a few people a little time. Fun fact: I either automatically where I could, or manually renamed every system I have according to no intro naming, haha. It was a hell of a task, as I have 180 plus systems and theres only like what 30 actual no intro sets. Renaming a set of psx or saturn bins + cues by hand is.... daunting. -
retroarch Zombeaver's Retroarch PSX and Saturn Overrides
fromlostdays replied to Zombeaver's topic in Emulation
Probably pretty niche, but if you have a no intro set, or used a no intro xml to name your psx games, here's a zip with all of the psx overrides renamed for no intro. Renamed using the Hyperspin psx xml* Also assumes the use of m3us for multidisk* Lastly, I wasn't thinking about sharing and put these in my own overrides folder right off the bat, so the cfg for "Galarians" and "Chrono Cross" may or may not be mine... P.S Awesome as always Zombeaver. Updated: Now includes .opt files and more renamed configs. Total count is 172. Chrono Cross now correct Not renamed or available in this zip: *SLUS (three files with a bunch of numbers) *Ubik-PSX-PAL Attempted to honor region where possible. Zomb's psx Overrides No Intro.7z -
I"m approaching 90 thousand games. Takes up more than 6 terabytes. (Fit everything but exodos and win3xo on there though). Bear in mind a HUGE portion of those games are for old computers, clones, and just bad games. I'll never import them all into launchbox. Wanted to add I keep games that you can't even emulate, as in n-gage etc. There's the, I think, 32 thousand or so I have in launchbox, and I'm pretty much done except to add new games as I get them in steam. Everything emulate-able, though, I do have launching through rocketlauncher.

It double sucks because when I try to load up the forums in Chrome on my phone, it automatically opens and tries to load via tapatalk anyway. I haven't been able to figure out how to change that setting either.

Not all of the games work even in a perfect set. Some games will not work if you're using a different version of mame than the version of roms. In terms of finding replacements, this is not advisable. Some games may store information in multiple zips, so you might break working games if you tamper with the set. The best way to ensure you have the best available compatibility is to use the most recent mame set with the most recent version of the emulator. To add individual roms to launchbox, you can use the rom importer option, or simply drag the rom into launchbox which will launch the importer, ask the system, download art etc.

Same. Been a while too.

multiple controllers priority management
fromlostdays replied to archimage's topic in Troubleshooting
I don't think there is a workaround, except maybe just updating to the newest version of mame. -
multiple controllers priority management
fromlostdays replied to archimage's topic in Troubleshooting
You're not going to like the answer to this. It's windows that's messing this up. It assigns priority on a first come first serve basis in terms of what you plug in. You were right to try joy2key, because unlike controllers the keyboard will stay plugged in and should keep the bindings. However, I think joy2key will still assign controllers based on how windows prioritizes them so ultimately even this won't work. As far as I know, and I'm not an expert here, but I do use controllers at all times, the only solutions (both tentative, neither ideal) is to never unplug any controller ever, OR bind all your emulators to the SAME keys for the same things. So for every emulator the W key might be up for instance, then use joy2key or xpadder to make profiles for all your controllers that are as similar as possible. Meaning no matter what controller you plug in, and or emulator you're using, it doens't matter because the keys are the same. Of course, considering the variety of systems and native controllers this is actually more difficult than you might think. You'll also have to get this working in MAME. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be. Are you using the latest version? -
Depends on the theme, but for most that's pretty much all you have to do. The creators will usually give instructions, like installing a few fonts, and you may have to tell windows not to freak out over the dlls. That's it. I installed like 8 themes in 30 minutes a couple weeks ago. Zero to hero. My personal favorite is the switch theme. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
