I have no idea if this would work, because I've never used it, but you could even try selecting your mame platform, then going to Tools and "Scan for Added Roms". This might bypass the database sync and see the ones you're missing, but again, not sure.
-
You can update the metadata for just one system, or just one game. Select a system - mame for example - and control A to select all the games. Go to tools, download media and metadata, which will give you three options: replace all metadata, fill in only fields with missing metadata, or skip games with existing metadata. I'm a little confused by what you're asking in terms of importing. The database isn't perfect, but if you select a mame rom or Group of mame roms that didn't import, and then drag them into launchbox, tell it to add them to mame and don't sync them to the database, then they should import just fine. You can then right click it and select "edit" and try and download any media from there. If its too many roms to go through individually, you can delete all your mame games and reimport them all without syncing to the database. This should get them all in, then just use the tools option above to download metadata etc. I'm pretty sure you don't lose your media by doing this. You might even be able to just select your whole mame collection drag into launchbox, and import it again over the existing one. This time choosing not to sync. When the box pops up listing what is imported, it shouldn't try to reimport any existing games... so it should only import any that are missing from your current xml. (In theory, and I'm pretty sure I've done this before, actually, for a different system).

Did you try importing them and unclicking "sync to the launchbox database" on import? If so, it should just import the files as is.

Honestly, I have no idea. I don't know that any run through launchbox. I'm sure it's possible, but it probably requires some command line or AHK. Sounds like a fun thing to figure out though.

When I was into it (probably about a year ago) I was using koplayer with no complaints. I don't know how portable it is though. I just know it seemed a lot less invasive than Andy or Bluestacks. (layman opinion, bluestacks in particular had processes running at all times).

Launchbox Database & EmuMovies - Colon in the Title & Missing Video
fromlostdays replied to RetroScott's topic in Noobs
No problem. It's worth noting that this issue can run deeper, as it is tied to your rom names. First, yeah emumovies may be missing some vids, and those vids may in some few instances be available elsewhere like the emumovies ftp, because they are still in the user submission phase. In other words, they still have to go through quality check. (I think that's how that works). But there will be a few games with art just missing, more on obscure systems. Also the downloading isn't 100 percent. It's pretty close, but its been my experience that for whatever reason (maybe server issues) launchbox might miss some available art or vids from emumovies. Most importantly, launchbox has to recognize your rom, and filename and link it to its own database. The database isn't complete, but its pretty comprehensive even now, so when you right click and edit a game, the first thing you want to check is if it's matched with an entry in the LB database. IF it is, you'll see a lb database number in the top right of the edit screen. If it isn't, you can try changing the title in the search bar up top in the edit screen. There were a few games that the filename of my rom just missed the mark completely. I'm making this up, but as an example: Nolan Ryan Baseball All Stars.sfc might be the rom name. Searching for "Nolan Ryan" might yield no results, but searching for "Baseball All Stars" might find the game. So always try to change the title a bit and see if you can find the entry in the database if it isn't linked. If you do, you'll get all the artwork no problem. -
Launchbox Database & EmuMovies - Colon in the Title & Missing Video
fromlostdays replied to RetroScott's topic in Noobs
You can right click the game, click edit, then down at the bottom "Download Images/Media" and see exactly what launchbox can download from emumovies. I just checked, and the colon in the title doesn't seem to be affecting what videos are available. At least, not all the time. But sometimes things do get missed on import. Try that method and let me know if under the emumovies tabs, you see the vid available. -
Is there a way to add backgrounds to wall view in this theme?

I'm glad you got it working.

looks like a tosec set? Are you launching individual roms, or did you import zips?
-
It certainly shouldn't be taking minutes to launch, but it does take a little time. I have the same processor as you and it takes about 30 seconds for it to launch. Mind you I have a LOT of games in Launchbox. So you're saying when you run the program the big box logo pops up and hangs for minutes before bigbox initiates?
-
I can't say for sure but this sounds like it might have been a server type issue you might have to wait out. Never had this problem before. Are your sega saturn games matching the LB database?

Rocketlauncher + WinUAE + Launchbox
fromlostdays replied to polygonslayer's topic in Troubleshooting
Wait... are you using WinUAE as your emulator in launchbox... If you are, and you're using Rocketlauncher, you should be using Rocketlauncher as your emulator. -
Thanks Alec and Zomb. This is incredible work and re-engergizing my love for some ps2 games. You we're both right. Downscaling and then signing out/in made the mouse work (but the Y key is a perfectly fine workaround now that I know it worked) Launched Silent Hill 3 and its definitely using zomb's config. AND THE SHADOWS ARE CORRECT WHILE BEING ABLE TO AMP THE RESOLUTION UP. Fromlostdays comes from a song on the silent hill 3 soundtrack so I'm really excited. I see you just did Galerians: Ash too which is admittedly a bad game that I love haha. Thanks again ya'll. Everything is in working order.

I know I probably screwed something up, but I'm catching hell getting the plugin to work. If I right click and select "config" (exmple silent hill 3) zombeavers script pops up and asks if I want to download optimized settings. I can't interact with this window with the mouse at all. Can't click yes, no or X. But I read that it works with keyboard keys so I click Y, and the script disappears and PCSX2 opens. I don't know if it downloaded the configs or not. (incidentally, this isn't scaling issue, as I put mine down to %100 percent to test). The next time and all subsequent times I've clicked "config" for silent hill 3, PCSX2 opens, and that's all that happens. I've tested it with a dozen games. The plugin seems to only open the emulator. I know I probably screwed something up, but I can't imagine what it could be.

You shouldn't *have* to rename games for either RocketLauncher or Launchbox. Rocketlauncher launches whatever you tell it to (in the xml). If you downloaded the hyperspin.xml for ps1... MOST sets don't match it as its no-intro naming. I actually did rename all my ps1 games to match it, but it takes forever. If you want to skip that, just have rocketlauncher create an xml based on your rom path. It'll launch all games as they are currently named (provided the cue files coincide with the file names as mentioned above) Depending on what set you're using, launchbox might not identify all of the games because of how they are named. In truth, scrolling through the set in launchbox and fixing the ones that haven't synced will probably be fasted than renaming 400, or god forbid 1400 bin and cue files.

Getting the smaller more vague emulators running - Acorn ARCHIMEDES
fromlostdays replied to cleverest's topic in Emulation
I have it running through Arculator. Finding the right bios was a pain. -
After 8 years in the retrogaming scene, I just played my first atari 8bit game. Thanks Zomb!
-
I'm going to have to mess with it more. It doubled the size of the first episode of DBZ haha.
-
I didn't try it as I'm wanting to test with a few individual files first. Seems like that would have been it. Sorry for blowing up this thread like this, but I'm not seeing hevc as an option. Only mp4 and mkv... testing this on an mkv file. Does the original filetype matter Neil?
-
Actually, when you click "open source" it gives you the option to "open file" or "Folder (Batch Scan)". Pretty sure the latter is for doing multiple files.
-
Well there goes my Saturday. Thanks guys!
-
You're doing them one at a time?

Thats awesome! I have launchbox on a SSD so this could save me a ton of space. Do you think the compressed videos would work in plex? I'm thinking of 50 gig animes I have.
-
They are still playable in vlc etc. in compressed state? It should be noted I know next to nothing about video files*
