@damageinc86 I think I have a USB controller somewhere I can test this for you when I am home, but you would have to let me know what to look for. That type of technical data I am not skilled in and I do not really use wired controllers anymore.
-
No worries. Any issues when you start setting them up let us know.
-
Yeah, I figured you may not be in the US like me so I just wanted to show you that even with an inexpensive dongle it works. Keep in mind I did have issues with another brand. I cannot remember the brand, but that Belkin one should do the trick.
-
I believe so which is why I mentioned to new one since it can be booted up as d or x input. However, even with the one he is looking at I rarely had an issue with many of emulators I use. Retroarch for sure worked flawlessly. Retroarch is great because if you forget to start the controller before RA launches it still will work when you turn on the controller.

They will work with most Bluetooth dongles. I linked to the one that I use in my earlier post.
-
Same here as @ckp mentioned. I have Xbox One S and it can be turned on after BigBox boots up. I did have issue where at times it would not work but that came down to be the bluetooth dongle as it would exhibit the same behavior in other software. With the new bluetooth dongle un upgraded firmware no issues.
-
@avaris The controller you listed will work fine. It was one of the first ones I used. 8Bitdo I think has a wireless N64 controller. I have no experience with it.
-
What Windows version are you using? Reason I ask is I had experienced some random connection issues with the 8Bitdo and a bluetooth dongle on Windows 7/8. Since moving to 10 those issues have not been present. To honest though the issue may have been the brand usb dongle I was using. I am using this one now with no issues. So keep that in mind. Make sure you update the firmware in the controllers when you get them. That helps a ton. With the firmware updated connection is quick. Lag wise I do not experience anything bad, in fact anytime it is present I can get the same lag with my Xbox One controller so it is not unique to the controller. You can connect both 8bitdo to the wireless receiver and have no issues. To be honest I cannot remember if we had issues when we used the Xbox One controller as well to play Mario Kart 8. I will test and let you know. I have not had any issues with the multiple controllers affecting mapping that may be due to the controllers I use and as Neil mentioned d-input vs. x-input. I highly recommend their new controller SF30/SN30 Pro. It has both d-input and x-input functionality so it makes configuring for a wide variety of emulators a breeze and Playstation style shoulder buttons for L1/2 and R1/2. About $15 more than the 1 you are looking at but the x and d input function alone is worth it.

I am still a young panther learning the ways of the ninja.

Hey you got it working so that is great. Not sure why either. Those are just telling the command to press and release. I do not mess with AHK much in fact I just really started learning more about it.

Keep in mind there are some views I believe in each theme that do not use background videos. So you would need the right view in a theme. Each theme usually has a few view style to choose from. Also there is a setting in BigBox in the videos settings to "Use background videos for games" as well as "use background videos for platforms". Checking or unchecking those can make a view different as well. edit: really @neil9000

Try c:: Send, ^!{F5} return or simpler version c::Send ^!{F5}

Take a look at this video. He shows how to set stable contoller IDs with Mame. Maybe this can help you.
-
You can add videos you want in the \Videos\Platform folder, however the theme and view you use will somewhat dictate if a video can be shown. edit: Forever ninja'd by @neil9000 He is like a stealthy panther in a ninja suit.

Thanks for the steps @Lordmonkus Made the switch as well and installed the HDPack.

Turn off Platform square images / Game Notes in Coverflow?
Retro808 replied to Blitzkrieg's topic in Noobs
Definitely put in a request that way others can vote it up. It also has to do with the theme and how the developer wrote it. For example, CriticalCid's original version of his CriticalZone had a view with fullscreen videos. He created that view with clear logos that slide out of view leaving only the full video on screen. His new version does something similar, but there is a faint grey box that remains on screen as well as some small information boxes in the corners. So the creators vision of the theme can come into play. -
Glad to see you are up and running again.
-
As @Lordmonkus I recommend command line as well. Is it possible you tried a newer version of Mame and you have an old romset? What version is your Mame32 as well as your romset? All the mame32 versions I can find are old compared to current Mame builds and romsets.
-
Is there a mame.ini file anywhere? I do not use 32 only 64 and I quit using MameUI due to issues so I am unsure where that version would put it normally.
-
You do not have to create it. Jut look in the ini folder you should see mame.ini. Copy it and then past it into the root folder of mame32 where the mameui.exe is located.
-
Yup. This was a specific workaround for MameUI but it worked with a few other mame versions.
-
Yeah, that's why I mentioned listing the specs. Helps quickly anyone who sees it. Not sure on the issue. I do not recall seeing this specific issue. There have been reports of it being slow in several areas when selecting game, platform, or platform category. I am not sure if anyone has reported it only being slow when selecting a platform. I have two pc with similar specs i5-6600k/16GB/gtx1070 and i7-7700K/32GB/GTX1080 and have no lag issues like you reported. Is this a recent set-up? You can try to use the force all images cache in the BigBox settings. It has been recommended on prior posts about slow BigBox. Depending on your collection size it can take a bit to cache.
-
Try copying your mame.ini file if it is located in the ini folder and paste it into the root mame folder where the mame.exe is located. Are you using a MameUI version?

Have you tried any 3rd party software like Vjoy or Xoutput to have your arcade stick emulate controllers. I know in the past I used Vjoy to have my Xarcade Tankstick function like a gamepad controller for some Steam games. Whether or not that will let you do what you want with both sticks being able to control BigBox I do not know as I never experimented with it and I do not use it this way as I do not have these Steam games in the arcade cabinet anymore. The Tankstick has a trackball built in and it functions in most emulators like a mouse. It works pretty smoothly in Mame which is what I use it for about 100% of the time.
