  1. Close down BigBox and open up your LaunchBox/Data folder. Make a copy of your BigBoxSettings.xml, and then delete the original. This will reset your settings, and I assume keyboard and controller keys. It will generate a new one when you reopen BigBox. Let me know if that fixes the issue.
  2. I like that, "Argument". My only point was, there was nothing that I natively knew that would work from a zip. The nature of DOS just makes that hard. Multiple exe's and bats, needing to run setups to get configs and settings in place. Hell, I didn't even know Daum could run games from a zip! That is awesome. So yea, it's doable (obviously), but I worry about the success rate. Has anyone tried a game that needs a custom conf file?
  3. You're not bothering at all. LaunchBox only allows you to scrape one platform as one platform at a time currently. Are they labeled any differently? Would they be easy to separate? Otherwise, You can call the platform what ever you want, set it to scrape as Atari 800, then run the updater. When that's finished, you could theoretically scrape it as Atari XE, and then let that run. I don't know how much crossover there is here, but that's the only way I could think to do it now, but I'm afraid some things would get mislabeled.
  4. I know what you're talking about, but that's the choice the MAME team made. There's really no reason for them to be shorthand. I am also saying that you don't need their packaged roms to use MESS at all. You can use any rom, as long as they support the file extension, and they support quite a lot. Obviously, being able to parse all the names would be great, and ideal, but remember that Jason is one person who has a lot of stuff to work on, and this task isn't super easy. That's the main reason why I brought up that you can use any roms with MESS.
  5. It can, but it doesn't translate statistics or ad's. It doesn't drive the algorithm for people to find our content either. So if we did do this, it would need to be ran through the API or an embedded HTML engine.
  6. Have you tried another SNES emulator to see if it persists? I would ask about PS2, but there's only one.
  7. I think it's called Per Game when you load a game and open up the quick menu. There's two, for the core and for that game now.
  8. Some GBA were, some weren't. If you can find the manual from elsewhere and check, that would help. I recall a manual project being upped somewhere, let me see if I can find it and double check. If it wasn't devved by Nintendo, then there is a chance they could have made it black and white a lot sooner. That was around the generation where they started getting lazy. 360 and PS3 took that a step further. Near the end of that, start of this one, now it's just a sheet, mostly an ad for other games from that dev or publisher, safety info (which also printed on the back of the artwork in some cases), and a link to the online manual. The art of manuals is a joke now.
  9. Assuming you did everything correctly (which I think you did because some of your games work), did you get a MAME .182 split rom set? That would be my guess as to why it's not working. Split in .182 seems to be broken. Files are missing things they require, etc. I suggest grabbing split for MAME .174 to .181, or a non-merged set for .182. Don't grab the merged set, grab the non-merged set, they are different. Delete the games, and do an import again, the same way, but click the "uncheck all" button for the Media check boxes. Don't uncheck the database boxes or the games wont be attached to Database ID's. This way, you wont have to re-download all of your media, and it will automatically re-attach.
  10. It would be pretty awesome actually. I wonder if you could plug a channel URL in and then have the API parse the channels list of videos. That could solve it. I wonder if their API can handle a log in system outside of their website for users with YouTube Red too... Either way, I've sent this link to Jason, and we should certainly get a ticket for this going. I am falling in love with this idea actually.
  11. Well, it's not that easy from what Jason explained to me. That's part of the reason the MAME Data hasn't been updated in a while. I'm all for updating the data and adding the software lists too (updating first), but that's @Jason Carr's call.
  12. That's a pretty cool. I'm not sure how much the YouTube API would let us do though... I always wanted to have the feature available, where you put a link to something you want in a video field, and LaunchBox embeds and plays it. I can't speak for the last 3, but for our channel that would be bad ass.
  13. This was when manuals started getting lazy, before the super lazy they're at now. I have no idea EmuMovies plans or ideas for a console. Either the manuals are up in the premium members only area, because Circo was saying there is a bunch of stuff in there that isn't up on the site yet. If it's in that member area, I don't know if it's available on the API either, but I doubt it. It'd probably need to be on the site before it hits the API. If ReplacementDocs, or anyone else who has manuals, is ok with sharing their content then you could alsways talk to Circo about uploading them to their server for them, help them out. The LaunchBox Games Database doesn't deal with Manuals at all. Actually, we don't deal with music, manuals or video. That could change one day, but out of respect for our partnership with EM, we're not currently looking in to it.
  14. As far as I know, we're not doing any short hand name internalization with those short hand names, so forcing mame metadata wont do anything. If they use the full name, you're good to go. If you just need to use MESS for something, then you can use roms from anywhere (as long as they're valid and not corrupted or bad rips), you're not forced using the software list. The only software list roms I ever grabbed were for CD-i because the images sucked, and that software list set wasn't in short hand. Also, when I say MESS, I mean MESS Integrated in MAME, that's the only reason you'd be using the Software lists. We have several MESS tutorial now if you're curious. On the older ones, replace the MESS standalone package with regular MAME like in the latest 2 MESS tutorials.
  15. Could try backing up that platform XML and deleting it, re-importing and see if that clears it. You'd lose favorites though.
  16. Yea, it could certainly be the port, controller, wire or drivers before we start looking at the other software. So let us know!
  17. Bsnes Balanced is just as good too if you get any performance hits. Accuracy requires a fairly beefy CPU. Just make sure to download the core and change the command line if you switch.
  18. There is a batch command that can delay commands by x amount of time, would that work?
  19. That's why I asked if you set the path to your roms and gave you a link to the tutorial, you need to set it up.
  20. Did you set the path to your roms? You can also drag and drop it like Neil said, or use the add button in the bottom right.
  21. It's never too early really, but Jason would need to add it. There would be little reason to add it because it'll be a long time before an emulator crops up, but yea.
  22. See, I didn't know this! This works out very well then.
  23. Their API is just down most likely, it happens. Their API is different from the FTP and Website. There was another thread about this.
  24. Thanks Cid, that will help some of the confusion. I prefer eXo, the same way I prefer No-Intro, less extra BS. I do consider eXo more complete though, because the cd's are included where needed (even not as needed), and conf files are made available too. @ALIE I can't point you anywhere sadly. I recall him telling me about a small update, but it was made to the torrent that was available not that there was ever a new release. That's what I remember, but we talked quite a while ago at this point. There is no new version for eXoDOS. Edit: I only brought it up to make the point that he's not ignoring it or letting the project go. He's still involved.
