all of the LB settings are self contained in the LB folder so having multiple instances is fine as there will be no settings getting confused between the two versions. There isn't really a proper path and setting everything up inside the LB folder structure or even just having it all on the same drive should make it portable. Don't know how you would go about registering it to another user you would probably need to use their name and address to have it registered to the correct person but maybe @Jason Carr could elaborate on that one.

I don't use RL personally but isn't it as easy as editing all of your games to point to different emulators besides RL.

Its an emulator thing. Emulators like RetroArch and MAME have settings that will allow you to specify which monitor it will use and many of the others will open on the last monitor they were closed on so try opening one of those drag it to the screen you want and then properly exit from the emulator and see if next time you open it it doesn't open on the last monitor you closed it on.

If you want to have a different game be the facing game you just go to the game click it hit ctrl+e or right click and choose edit. the go to the path tab and change the game part to the specific rom you want so if its displaying sf3iii and you want to use sf3iiiu just add the u to the path and next time you launch the game it should launch that version (this isn't really helpful if you want to have to games showing but will help in your 2 player vs 4 player example from earlier)

Sadly there aren't very many (or really any) theme makers that have any interest in creating a 4:3 theme it seems. Since almost all the themes (besides the default and Unified Redux) are made by community members its up to those content creators what they create.

There are two folders LBThemes and Themes BB Themes just go in Themse not LBThemes.

The free version is only LB and it is missing many of the customization features that the paid version has. The paid version is both LaunchBox and BigBox and in it LB has many more options that will be locked down in the free version.

yeah that can be a tricky situation. Have you ever thought of converting your games to Gzip that is a format that PCSX2 recognizes and you don't need LB to unpack the archive. I'm not 100% on this but I believe the file size saving of gzip is better than most traditional archives if I'm remembering what I read correctly.

depends on your setup if you edit a game and it shows a relative path .../games/NES/SMB.nes then no drive letters don't need to match but if you see D:/Emulators/NES/ SMB.nes then yes you will need to match that or at least go to tools>change rom path for selected games in the LB menu and tell LB your new path

yeah because the file isn't seen as a mp4 because its not its a .zip archive with a mp4 inside so it is seen as a zip and not a video file

Mednafen Saturn is resource intensive so your mileage will be dependent on your PC specs.

To get to that screen that Neil is showing load the core for Mednafen Saturn then go to Info then core information.

Unfortunately from what I'm reading there is no way to install the latest .net framework on Windows 8 so in order to use the program you will have to either update to 8.1 or 10 or install Windows 7.

I'm not 100 on this but the tool CHDmon that is for converting games to CHD inside of MAME may be able to revert them back

yeah most likely updating to betas shouldn't mess with your media but if you have the space you can always back up your image music manual and media folders also (when backing up your image folder you can skip any of the cache folders as they are only temporary and you really don't need them backed up

by default the scan for added ROMs feature looks in the Games\platformname in the LB folder so if your ROMs are in a separate location it won't see anything new. you can go into tools edit platform and got to the folders tab and edit the location to match the location you are using and then the feature should work.

you can basically just copy your data folder put a date on the end of the name and that will backup all the information LB is using for your configuration. If you need to revert just overwrite your data folder with the backup. Also its pretty simple to roll back your builds by just going into your updates folder finding an old installer and reinstalling that over your current installation. I've been using beta builds since 2015 and I've never needed to revert but the ability is there and pretty simple to do if needed. I would suggest copying your data folder to another hard drive anyway as this makes it incredibly simple to restore your install in the case of a hard drive failure. It won't recover your ROMs or any related media but all that stuff is easy enough to get but your configuration of the program is something that would need to be completely redone if lost.
