I was just testing it out one game with the additional apps. Then id apply it to all if/when it worked. I followed the screenshots from someone else's old post https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/34014-joy2key-question/#comment-208307

I was following an additional apps suggestion by someone else to launch joy2key and a profile, however i get some error message about not being able to write to the directory, which I have no idea why it would need to write, when it's just loading a profile with joy2key. So that error message stays up, retroarch loads,...and joy2key loads,...however it doesn't close. So should I ditch the additional apps and go with script? I noticed you had a bulk additional apps thing right? I'd rather do that if I could. Weird how joy2key integration is still eluding us, as this is a rather large quality of life feature.

revisited retroarch lately, and got most of my setup switched over. The superpause plugin made by someone on here has taken care of the pause menu. Now have multiple save slots. And joeviking helped me with the autohotkey scripting for it. Now just need to figure out the joy2key integration, and I won't need rocketlauncher anymore. Save for like 2 systems.

To exit certain programs + Improve Joy2Key usage

We still really, really need good integration of joy2key profile tracking and launching. Preferably with a nice little GUI wizard to help us create the profiles, and then settings within launchbox to help us link those profiles either to games, to plaform, or both. And then to launch joy2key and call upon that profile that was setup previously, when we launch anything from that platform,...a specific game,...etc., etc. This is literally the last thing I need rocketlauncher for, because it allows the editing of it so easily from within the GUI. And it works every time. -
Well the reason I still prefer rocketlauncher for keymapping is because it takes care of it all from within a GUI. it launches joy2key for you to setup your profile, you save it, then apply it to the platform, or the game, all from within the GUI. And then it will launch joy2key as it launches the game, or a platform specific one if that's all you need. I'd love for Launchbox to finally add a little GUI for joy2key profile creation, saving, and launching. I don't see why we still need to mess with command line stuff and scripting, when so many other quality of life features are being developed for Launchbox. Really need a few last big ones, and then there's literally no need for anything else but Launchbox. Or have a plug-in person develop something. Like the Superpause menu, which has now taken away my need for Rocketlauncher for pause. And the customimages start up screen loader, which has taken away my need for Rocketlauncher fade screens. Retroarch is doing all my bezels now, besides like one or two systems. So don't really need Rocketlauncher for that exclusively anymore. Just need joy2key gui easy setup stuff in launchbox, and navigation key-mapping per-controller configs for bigbox. I don't use 90% of the new features that come out with each update, so it would be nice to have these two things finally added.

Phenomenal work! I'm gonna hold off on making my custom fade screens for this platform until you're done. No sense in using sub-par quality. These RULE!

Thank you! That finally was the correct format for it to work.
-
Yeah RL just let's you put the key presses in brackets and calls it good. They take care of the rest. Super easy to set up, in its own little window. Ok thanks, ill try that format and see if it works.
-
I dont believe anything is being pressed. And yes they are copy and pasted from rocketlauncher. I also need to set key delay. Because in the other area to manually type your key presses NOT in autohotkey format, I think it os sending the key presses too fast. as it engages some fast forward option in retroarch. something that didn't occur in rocketlauncher because you cpuld setkeydelay .
-
Could someone help me with this super pause menu? It doesn't seem to use the same autohotkey style as Rocketlauncher does. So I have no idea how to just simply send this: {F7 down}{F7 up}{F2 down}{F2 up}{F6 down}{F6 up} I've tried several variations with commas and stuff. And all the plug-in does is snap a screenshot of the save state. It doesn't seem to actually be sending the keypresses.
-
Is there a way to add another retroarch instance/executable location? I have three different retroarch installs, but this plug-in seemed to only allow me to point to one of them. When I added the other installs/folders, it said it already existed. So I can only use one so far. EDIT: it seems to just be looking for any "retroarch.exe" that is running through launchbox. So looks like I don't need to specify any other retroarch.exe than the initial/main one I specified. I saved and loaded a state from my other install, and it worked just the same as the main install.
-
Any progress on this? Launchbox really needs multiple save/load state slots, with hotkey presses like Rocketlauncher does. Think "{F7 down}{F7 up}{F2 down}{F2 up}{F6 down}{F6 up}" as an example, for Retroarch's first save slot. The only thing keeping me on Rocketlauncher is this specific pause menu feature, and the joy2key per-platform, and per-game key-mapping feature that Rocketlauncher has. If Launchbox could just get these two things done, I could finally ditch Rocketlauncher altogether.

Holy crap! phenomenal work! I finally finished my SMS 2D box front set early this year. Even though I never play these games, it is still nostalgic for me, since my friend had one when i was little. I always liked Sega stuff too.

Went ahead and ran the core updater. Guess what I had wasn't new enough! BOOYAH. loaded the m3u both outside launchbox and inside launchbox! Thank you so much for sticking it out with me! Phew.
-
yeah, it must be something in retroarch, since it's also a black screen there, outside of launchbox. Opening both of our m3u files in notepad++ and switching tabs back and forth shows no difference. So I have the same m3u. Roms: Dracula Unleashed (USA) (Disc 1).chd & Dracula Unleashed (USA) (Disc 2).chd launchbox settings same as yours. It's gotta be something inside retroarch somewhere. Want to just do an anydesk remote session so you can get into my retroarch directly and see?
-
yeah i only checked that because i thought it might make a difference. unchecked. no dice. also launched m3u in retroarch, black screen. nothing happening. weird. not much i can do about the m3u, it's just two entries that match the roms lol. So, must be some retroarch thing I have no clue about now.
-
Maybe it's a hidden setting in launchbox emulator setup or something. But I just re-named to your style, and my m3u is Dracula Unleashed (USA).m3u with lines just like yours. rom files renamed to match. and it is still just a black screen in retroarch. nothing happening. 1.21.0 as well. I even have "use m3u playlist" check marked in the edit emulator window. unless there's some default command line parameters that aren't in there, or something. I have no clue.
-
This is my m3u: Dracula Unleashed (Disc1) (USA).chd Dracula Unleashed (Disc2) (USA).chd Yeah, that's why it made no sense to me, because i've seen that this core supports it. Don't know if there's anything else inside retroarch I need to activate or what. But it's just a black screen and retroarch never starts. First disc starts fine on it's own if i point launchbox to it.
-
Genesis plus gx.

has anyone got this working? my m3u when launched with launchbox just shows retroarch with a black screen. It looks like now retroarch can handle m3u lists, and I have a game with 2 discs .CHD in an m3u playlist. pointing launchbox to the playlist instead of the Disc 1 entry. It works when I launch disc 1 on its own. But nothing at all when i launch the m3u.

Just did this for my sega saturn install, which has all the roms (cue, bin) inside a folder, and it just broke everything because it didn't search for the "rom" files within any of the similarly named game folders, it's just looking in the root folder now lol.
