    Also make sure that you don't have use file names without extension and don't use quotes checked in the manage emulator form as that will break MESS games from working in stand alone MAME and for some reason LB checks those by default

    MAME updates the last Wednesday of every month like clockwork getting every version isn't necessarily needed so don't sweat it if you don't feel like doing it this month

    I'm assuming its just a copy and paste from some MAME source listing what's new in this version.

    Did you go to tools>manage emulators edit MAME and setup the proper commands in the Associated Platforms tab the commands should be Coleco coleco -cart Intellivision intv -cart

    Yeah the LB.xml is a deprecated file which no longer exists it has now been split into separate xml files for each platform and these are located in the data folder.

    Anything with GD at the end needs CHD there is actually a newer pack by @SentaiBradwhich copies the chd files for you when you run the extractor I should get around to removing my pack from the download section.

    Well its a major bug for you if it was a MAJOR bug 100s of people would be reporting it. You posted the bug issues now relax and see if Jason can figure it out and get you running how you would like but it probably isn't going to happen overnight.

    sometimes the ini isn't generated until you load the UI without a game and save config or run the command -cc after the exe in the command line.

    well no if you move your MAME roms into the ROMs folder where MAME looks for them by default that is always going to work hands down and yeah that fixed your issues its cool what we are saying is you can set it up with it in other locations by adding file paths to the mame.ini file if that isn't working for you for some reason we don't know why but I've never seen that issue pop up before.

    wow so because these are your finding you are going to dispute multiple people who tell you that this does indeed work if you have it configured correctly because trust me it does I have multiple computers all pulling my MAME roms from a server that houses all my roms while having separate instances of MAME on every computer utilizing this one ROM set

    Yeah not saying the CU isn't the cause of the issues or something getting messed up during the update process itself. I'm saying out of all the PCs running CU now its probably only effected a small number of users.

    drag and drop with Windows search is my go to move for disc games (unless single isos) and just drag and drop for cart based games.

    Probably figures if your scanning for new ROMs that they aren't going to be dupes. If you were going to add dupes why wouldn't you just consolidate them with the already existing ROM as an additional app.

    Lets say it can screw up a few dependencies along the way but I wouldn't call it a common occurrence or anything as all my Windows 10 PCs successfully updated to the CU without causing any issues to LB/BB or any other programs that I'm aware of.

    well wait from the two screen shots you are showing they aren't part of the import process at all but the download media and metadata from the tools menu so I'm a little confused now.

    yes by that logic Sega 32x CD and 32x CD would all just be Genesis games and wouldn't need their own platforms either.

    doesn't require any command line you just need the don't use quotes checkbox checked and the use file names only without extensions checkbox checked and the CPS 3 emulator should work through LB

    Yeah basically the OP asked about RL and both pro and con opinions have been stressed to death here and its starting to turn ugly. The OP should have more than enough information to base his decision on with what is here without anything else really being said about it.
