    RocketLauncher

I've been using RocketLauncher for quite a while but have never tried any. What types of plugins are available?
  2. Really appreciate the help but the whole process in photoshop is rather daunting and complicated. However, animget is a very useful program! In the meantime, I'll hold out for another method for now
  3. Unfortunately BigBox crashes when you use a gif as a fanart background, or at least that's what happened to me just now. However I'll try a few different other conversion methods and see what happens. Perhaps @Jason Carr is out there reading this, and will someday implement video backgrounds into the games list Also, I've seen video backgrounds used in themes like City Hunter, however it uses the same video for all games list
  4. Thanks a lot for the tip! Any advice on what's the best program/method to convert a mp4 to gif?
  5. Since this topic came up, I was trying to find an answer on my own about this but haven't really been able to find a genuine solution just yet. Is there any way to use a default video (instead of a static picture-background) in the games list? For example, I would like to use one particular video in the background for Sega Genesis games, and if I switch to the Super Nintendo games list, there will be a different video playing in the background for that roms list. This might already be possible (or not?) but I wasn't exactly sure, and I tried to change the video with the City Hunter theme in the same manner as I mentioned before, but without any success. Any help or information would be appreciated
  6. On a related note, and as a multi-purpose solution for video backgrounds, I just found that you can accomplish this with the CityHunter 2 theme, which is already built in with the latest version of BigBox. Just put your background video in the folder "\Themes\CityHunter 2\Videos\Backgrounds\Default" with the exact name of the platform (eg. Sega Genesis) and you'll have this games background (with video running). Quite a nice surprise! Edit: Oops! I just realized now that the background video turns off an on every time you select the next game on the list. Almost, but not quite perfect
  7. I can't check this at the moment but after you delete the image, you have to refresh the image cache (in BigBox options), and that should remove it permanently, otherwise that platform banner may be residing elsewhere, such as the "default" theme folder. However, the method you mentioned is another good alternative
  8. No worries! Good luck and have fun!
  9. There's a few ways you can do that. The easiest way is to delete/move the image from the folder, for example: "\Images\Platforms\Atari 2600\Banner". The 2nd way is to use another theme which doesn't incorporate these banner images, for example the "Retrofresh" theme doesn't use these banners. The other way (and most difficult) is to open the theme in your text editor and remove the code which contains the banner, but I definitely wouldn't be able to give a tutorial on that part
  10. Glad to hear that! As a person who also struggled to get the 'oddball' systems like Bally Astrocade to work properly in the past, I know exactly how you felt. The good news is that if you add any more mame/mess related systems (Fairchild Channel F, for example) you can follow the same method as this one. Try this page on the launchbox forums for more information about default command lines and emulator configurations
  11. Uncheck "Don't use quotes" and "Use the file name only.." and see if that works for you
  12. How about the games? 'zip' or 'bin'?
  13. That's rather strange. Is your bios file named "astrocde.zip" and in the roms folder? Also, are your astrocade games in zip/7z format or are they uncompressed? (.bin) I highly recommend uncompressing them to save any hassles while using mame with arcade games.
  14. If you don't have a 'mame.ini' file, then you have to create one. Open a command prompt window (type "cmd" in the "Type here to search" in Windows 10). Then go to your mame directory and type "mame -cc" (without the quotes of course)
  15. This looks a little shady. The downloadable file on their website is named "updater"?
  16. Also, make sure that your mame.ini includes the folder where your bios is located. Example: (I have my astrocde.zip in the "bios" folder) # # CORE CONFIGURATION OPTIONS # readconfig 1 writeconfig 0 # # CORE SEARCH PATH OPTIONS # rompath bios;roms;
  17. Can't give you a complete tutorial or anything of that nature. But what you should do first, is put the videos in the folder -> videos / platforms /. Then make sure that the video is named exactly the same as the platform (Nintendo Entertainment System). Then, in BIgBox options, go to "videos" and make sure that "Use platform background videos" is checked. Then you should be ready to go
  18. Thank you for adding the box/cover artwork! Nicely done

Sounds great! Looking forward to the next release

    GCFE

Very nice simple theme! Would like to see a way to implement cover/box art in there somewhere, somehow
  21. Right! I noticed that feature after playing around with the freeintv core earlier. That's certainly a very welcome feature
  22. It's great to see another emulator available for the Intellivision! Just wondering, what are the neat features which you mentioned?
  23. Indeed, there are many an ass-hat on the internet. Truly a shame to hear that
  24. Doesn't really seem all that awesome. Thanks anyways
  25. I found a way to 'quick-fix' the issue. When I restore LaunchBox as a window (not maximized) and change the size of the details sidebar, then it will save that same position again later, including when it's maximized. However, it won't save the position when you simply change the size while LaunchBox is maximized.
