You should only need to check the box in the main Big Box setting to allow separate views per platform. Then make sure you have a key to change views mapped (which you now do). Then go into a platform. Say Sega Saturn. Enter the platform so you see its games and hit the view change key/button to put it on the view you want. That should be it. It should retain the view. Remember some views have very subtle changes. Keep in mind this is different than themes per platform. You can also set a different theme per platform. All you need to do is set a key/button for "switch them" in the BigBox settings. Enter the Platform and hit the switch theme key/button and a list of your dowloaded themes will pop-up. Choose the theme for that platform and it will set it for that platform only.

Chances are probably not good one will be made. Cid did comment early on that making a 4:3 version likely will not be done by him since it will require a complete remake of the theme and remaking the artwork assets which would require a ton of work. That was back in April 2018 so not sure if he has changed his mind since then. But just wanted to let you know.

I think this thread has your answer.

X Arcade Tank Stick Was Working Fine, Then...
Retro808 replied to thejamestownoasis's topic in Troubleshooting
Yes, you always need to set up your specific controls in every emulator. I know mentioned early on about the Xarcade config and you dropped it in and it just worked. That is true, but sometimes things can break and it is best to set up controls yourself to meet your needs. This way you also learn how to do it in case things break again. You do not really need to worry about the stuff on the Xgaming site except 1 thing. Make sure the switch on the back of your tankstick is set to position 1 (the position closest to the bundle of wires coming out the back). That is the default setting. The other 3 positions are for custom mapping. If the switch it set to position 1 then mapping is easy in Mame. Open a game in Mame and hit tab on your keyboard. Choose the "Input (General)" as this will set controls across the board. Set controls in Player 1 and Player 2 options. Also go into "User Interface" option and set an exit button for "UI Cancel" (this exits mame). You can hit two buttons at the same time so exit is set to a combo (Ex: I use P2 Start + Right Pinball Button). Also for Pause you can do the same. When you are done just exit the menus. Test and make sure you are happy. You can also set controls for a specific game if you want them to differ from the general settings. To do this just choose "Input (this machine)" when you are in the game you want. This will set controls specific to that game only. It will override the general inputs you set. -
Bigbox - Multiple keyboard buttons for same command
Retro808 replied to nekreg9's topic in Troubleshooting
Not that I am aware. 1 key, 1 command for now. I would recommend requesting a feature update in BitBucket and link it here to see if more users will vote for it. The more something is requested to better chance it gets added. >Help & Support>Request a Feature -
X Arcade Tank Stick Was Working Fine, Then...
Retro808 replied to thejamestownoasis's topic in Troubleshooting
That likely will not really work. The Tankstick is recognized by Windows as a keyboard so the controller set up in Windows will not show it listed. Its buttons are keystrokes. All you need to do to make sure it is working is simply open a blank text document and start hitting buttons on the tankstick and you will see keystrokes being entered. Xgaming also has a test program on their site you can use. @thejamestownoasis Chances are you simply need to remap your controls directly in Mame. -
Do you have a button or key mapped in BigBox to change views? If so I would suggest cycling through the views see what happens. If not set a key or button and try to cycle the views. It really should not take anything special as the code of the theme is what does the work. As far as the transparent disc goes I have seen both Launchbox DB and Emumovies have non-transparent disc images. The DB record for Ecco on Sega CD has white background images.

The new Startup Screens may be messing with Daphne. You may need to try checking the "Hide All Windows..." check box in the Game Startup Screen tab of your Daphne emulator in your Launchbox settings. Jason did work on this in the latest beta of Launchbox.

Wheel 3 should be for disc spin. If your BigBox settings has the box checked for "Remember Separate View Per Platform" (or something like that) than you will need to go into the Saturn platform and try changing the view. The Saturn platform may actually be on a different view. Not sure if that is the exact reason, but it did catch me off guard a couple times. Edit a game and check the images. You may have 2 discs images (1 on a white background and 1 transparent). Delete the white boarder one. Or you may just have to source a disc image that is transparent. Unfortunately not all images for discs are transparent.

Until then you could always try using a plug-in. @jayjay of our forum has one in the development thread you can take a look at.

If you change the view in Launchbox to "All Games" is the game listed? Launchbox should not delete unless you specify it to delete a game. If it shows in All Games list right click and edit the game and see what platform it is listed under. Maybe an edit accidentally changed the platform.

I do not use Project 64, but Just tested and it is working fine in BigBox. A google search of the exact error brings up some older PJ64 forum posts advising to make sure Direct X is updated properly. Even saw similar posts in a Steam forum thread. I know in your other post you said it runs in Launchbox so not sure why for you it is not working in BigBox. Could be something unique with your set-up and BigBox. Have you made sure Direct X on your machine is updated?

If you are using a theme that uses game backgrounds it looks for the background image. If none is present then it will depend on what your image priority is you set for backgrounds in Launchbox.

NAOMI & NAOMI 2: DEMUL and RetroArch troubleshooting
Retro808 replied to larsherbaut's topic in Emulation
That epr file I am sure you know is a bios file. Demul I believe uses the mame bios files. I know the 07 build does, not sure if the 07a does as well. If you have a full mame romset you can try and use the naomi.zip and naomi2.zip files from it. Just place the full naomi.zip and naomi2.zip files into the bios folder where you have demul pointed. Looks like maybe the bios file you have is not compatible. I cannot answer the question on the Riecast core as I do not use it. Never really messed with it much. -
nes Nestopia Won't Exit Fullscreen Properly
Retro808 replied to Whitestrake1967's topic in Troubleshooting
@Whitestrake1967 Try putting this into the AutoHotKey tab of the edit emulator option in Launchbox. Go to Tools>Manage Emulators and then edit Nesoptia. In the AHK Tab paste the code below. Although LB/BB should not actually need an AHK to close Nestopia. $Esc::WinClose, ahk_exe nestopia.exe -
Glad you are all set.

1. Once you have the clear logo image you want to use for your playlist the logo needs to be named exactly as the playlist is. Example: Top 100 (Playlist name) = Top 100.png (Image name) (or .jpg whatever your file extension is). 2. Then place the image in the correct folder if you have your image folder outside of the default. The Default folder will be \Launchbox\Images\Playlist\[Your Playlist Name]\Clear Logo folder. 3. Once you add the new image then go into BigBox and refresh the image cache. That is really all you need to do.

You will need to go into Launchbox >tools>options and in the updates section make sure you check the tick box for Betas. I would also recommend to not have the tick box for download in background checked. It will apply the beta update over your existing set-up. It will not make any changes to your data and imports. If the next beta fixes your issue and you no longer want to text betas just uncheck that box.
-
Anytime you add new images make sure you go into the settings menu in BigBox and refresh the image cache. Otherwise the cache will populate old image data.

This was just a quick edit of one of the Startup Themes I made. So nothing perfect, just showing it should be easy to make . I do not think I will take the time to create all the unique controller layouts for the platforms, but if someone already had them and wants to share I can make a theme to post.

You should not need to change the theme video path. Since it is a subfolder of the video structure all Launchbox needs to know is the location of the main video folder for the platform. Just tested by completely removing the NES videos from Launchbox folder and placing on E: drive. Only changed the video path in manage platforms and the theme video played without issue.
