@Jason CarrWell I can test that I guess by pressing a key to stop it ahead of time. But If it thought a key was being pressed on a short video, why is it leaving the screen black after the video is done playing, and waiting the same exact seconds for bigbox to load? Why would it add a black screen to the end of a short video if it thinks a key has been pressed I mean. Shouldn't bigbox load whenever the video is done playing, and not add time to a shorter video?
-
@Jason Carr well in my feeble non-programmer brain that sort of shows that no matter long or short video, bigbox is waiting until it's loaded to do anything. Cuts off long vid when loaded, and extends time of short vid to wait until it's loaded. Of course I don't have enough insight to form any thoughts past that. But that's the behavior.
-
@Jason Carr I also just tried some shorter videos from the downloads section, like the neo geo intro and the neon sign one, plus like 4 more. While of course they don't get cut off since they are short, bigbox doesn't load until the normal time that BB would usually cut off the longer videos. It just stays on a black screen until BB loads like it usually does.

@Jason Carr I would try the unplugging thing, but I have almost 10 genuine controllers plugged in and don't want to have to remAp them all just on the off chance that's it. I can live without startup videos until it's figured out. But just wanted to bring it up since it is some sort of issue now. I am doubting it's picking up a phantom press because like @neil9000 said it's stopping it the same time, every time, right when BB is done loading.

Yeah sort of a similar idea that I had. My bitbucket issue has a screenshot I edited in photoshop to show what the sidebar might look like when it slid over to show the filters/playlists for that platform. https://bitbucket.org/jasondavidcarr/launchbox/issues/2578/feature-request-filters-sidebar-in-bigbox
-
Are you talking about being able to call up a platform specific playlist/filter within the platform you are in? I put up a bit bucket request back when it was still called filters, to have a little menu overlay slide over the top on one side of the screen and show you all the filters you had made that are specific to that platform. Then when you would select one you'd go right to that list and then when done you could go back to the parent platform. Most useful for arcade platform but also might be nice to be able to call up the "top 25, 50, 100", or certain franchises that you'd like to see specific to the platform your in. It can get old always having to go to the playlist category and scroll through all your playlists when you just want to see which ones you want from the platform you were in. Still keep the playlist category to be able to find lists that's span multiple platforms, but just add a little feature for a sub-menu within your current platform.

I've got a full rocketlauncher setup working very well , I just can't check out what's up with it during the day, as I'm at work. But the 7z thing sounds about right.
-
Go to the rocketlauncher forums I bet they know what's going on. I can't remember off the top of my head.

@Jason Carr Yeah it is puzzling huh? I have 4 different videos, all mp4's. It cuts each one off at 18 seconds no matter which one plays. I'm wondering if there is somehow a reference to the original settings being looked at still somewhere? Maybe there's some file I can delete to make it stop looking at it?

@Jason Carr, I just updated to the latest beta and restarted my computer. The startup vids still play randomly, but always cut off the video at about the same time at what feels like midway through them. Didn't time it, but it's waaaay before the end. Any ideas?
-
Yeah wow, those are all pretty hard critiques yes I'll give them that, but it's not any more scolding than your average movie review. I could understand if it was really inflammatory language, but even though its harsh, I don't get an overly out of control crazy vibe from any of that. But I have no dog in this fight, it just piqued my interest. I don't use exodos. I can see how trying to actually deal with someone like this on a technical level would get trying, so meh. Ban seems over the top though. Anywho hope the dos/win3.0 gets figured out.

I pointed all my platforms to my HS video folders when I first got launchbox. Within a month it became clear that I wouldn't be going back, so I physically moved them all to launchbox' video folder .
-
@Jason CarrNo it's cutting off about a quarter to half of the entire video still. Should a restart of the computer be required perhaps? it seems very odd for it to stop the video so soon after the update.
-
What about the startup video changes? I added the video folder and it goes through the videos randomly but still cuts them off short before they finish playing.
-
Yes, there are so many little options scattered in the tabs it can be hard to see/find them.

Made the Startup video folder and bigbox still cuts my video short. Is there a setting somewhere in there?
-
Sweetness!
-
Ohhhh really !? I will go look now.

Might have to find the "hide taskbar" option in rocket launcher for that specific platform. That might get into out of there for ya.

I haven't used startup videos since I first tested the feature out simply because you can't watch a video all ththe way through that is longer than your allowed time limit, and you can't press a key to stop the video short if you don't want to watch the whole thing. would love this to be standard. Just get Rid of the different time options and just have two criteria: A- did video finish? Then start bigbox and B- did enter get pressed? Then stop video and start bigbox. It should be that simple .
