That is a bit odd. Try unchecking the startup splashcreen and background music boxes in your BigBox settings, close BigBox, restart and make sure none of it plays. Then check those boxes to activate them and restart and see what happens. Also in case you are not aware if you make a folder in your videos folder named Startup you can place multiple startup videos in there and BigBox will play a different one each start up. They can have any name you want BigBox just looks in that folder.
-
Should not be anything you need to scrape. Just add or remove the files as you wish from the videos\startup and music\background folders. Just tested and had no issues. Are you on the latest stable version or a beta?

It will work with either png or jpg. Images typically work best named as the game is named in your Launchbox set up. So if the game in LB is shown as NBA 2K name the image NBA 2K.jpg If you open any image folder you will typically notice that is the pattern. The image is named as the game, platform, or platform category is named in your particular setup.

OK we get it. I think we can let this topic settle. Jason has already said he will get to it when he tackles startup screen from the poll so if that is not good enough for you right now I am not sure what to tell you. I hope those in good sense have the opportunity to act and be patient.

I do not think I have seen anyone report that kind of issue. Does it do that when launching Demul by itself outside of Launchbox?
-
@bundangdon along for that patient ride with you

It may seem simple, but it may not be high on the list of things to implement. With Jason working hard to get Launchbox.Next set for official release to replace the current Launchbox things have to be prioritized by his needs in development. I think Jason might have mentioned something about this getting fixed Launchbox.Next (I am not too sure) but we have to take a wait and see.

I had similar issues doing it the way ETA showed. I wonder if it has something to do with the changes in 1.7.3?? RA would launch in black screen and many of my custom configs did not work or were not showing. So I went back to my old way of updating by downloading the Retroarch 64 bit and installing fresh. Than copying over a bunch of the folders from my 1.7.1 RA folder (cheats, configs, overlays, saves, states, system). Launchbox was able to launch 1.7.3 with all my settings and my extra command lines were showing in Launchbox.

To specify the core of choice first make sure you have the cores you want downloaded in Retroarch. Then open Launchbox and go back to the edit emulator screen you posted. Clicking in the box with the core name for your SNES platform should open the drop down box in that cell and you can choose the core you want. If a core is chosen and you do not have it downloaded it will show "Missing Core File" in the status box.

Personally I do not know if I would call this a bug. It is no different than double clicking the Retroarch.exe multiple times and getting multiple instances running. Sure would not go to the RA forum and claim it is a bug and ask them to fix. However, if this is something Jason said he would look into and see if he can prevent it from occurring that just exemplifies why the software if getting better and better. To have a developer who would do that and if it was not high on his priority list I would just be thankful he is at least considering it. Just being honest here.

Does it only occur with those Arcade playlists you have listed? I noticed in the video you stayed in those playlists and did not go down into the ones like Capcom Classics, Mega Drive Classics and such. Also have you tried another theme to see if it occurs there as well. I cannot seem to replicate this on my set-up using Unified and a couple other themes.

PSA: Backup Your Retroarch Cores Before Updating
Retro808 replied to Lordmonkus's topic in Emulation
Something similar happened a while back with the Wonderswan core. A member posted a few games no longer worked. Thankfully I had not updated and was able to test the prior core still worked. So now before I update any cores I will back up the core folder. -
Probably a theme issue. I just tested Critical Zone and another and the fade does not work on background images. In Aeon MQ7 it does work. I would post in the CriticalZone theme thread and see if something in the xml can be edited.
-
That's what it should do. Just tested with Aeon MQ7 theme and it works fine. Using 0 the image is full and moving up to 90 it is barely seen. What theme are you using?

Right now videos/animations are not supported through Launchbox for marquee. Something I have been anxiously waiting for. Upgraded marquee support did not make the cut on the last poll Jason did so we may have a bit of a longer wait.
-
Not at this time. Multi-level filter was something voted on in the poll back in February and I think it made the cut. If it did, than it is something Jason will eventually get to. When, is undetermined at this time. He does have quite a bit going on.

How can I properly display Marquee images on custom cut LCD screen?
Retro808 replied to Carnovash's topic in Troubleshooting
That issue I am not sure. I know there were some random posts about game images not changing when moving to other games. I have not seen anyone report the same with marquee images and I do not recall seeing it on my cabinet. -
How can I properly display Marquee images on custom cut LCD screen?
Retro808 replied to Carnovash's topic in Troubleshooting
The marquee staying up while the game is played should happen. It does in my setup. I cannot assist on the other question as I am not familiar with adjusting the xml at all. -
I am not sure where you found it so I cannot say. I do not know if they used it in conjunction with Launchbox. But the members on this site that used it with Launchbox had major issues. So I still recommend reading that thread linked and simply say if you are going to use it to help import roms into Launchbox....use it at your own risk.
-
Not sure which version you are considering but I would read this thread and recommend not using Lightspeed with Launchbox.
-
New beta looking good. Thanks Jason for all the hard work you put in.

How can I properly display Marquee images on custom cut LCD screen?
Retro808 replied to Carnovash's topic in Troubleshooting
I just confirmed the reason it is not working is you cannot alter the default theme. The default theme will always return to its normal state on restart. You have to copy it and rename it. Then you can make these alterations to that copy of the default theme. -
Whenever you change or make a custom name for your platform make sure the "associated platform" name for the emulator you are using has that same name. Example: If you are using Retroarch for NEO Geo [MVS] go the manage emulators and edit Retroarch. In the associated platforms tab you need to make sure the name for Neo Geo MVS there matches exactly as you have it listed in your platforms. Your platform name is Neo Geo [MVS] then in the associated platform field it should also show Neo Geo [MVS].
