How do you guys split up Arcade games?
DOS76 replied to polygonslayer's topic in Collections and Builds
Hopefully you will be able to bulk tag them if some thing like that was added any solution that has you have to edit individual games isn't optimal -
LEDBlinky - LaunchBox not keeping controls lighted
DOS76 replied to johnstewart's topic in Troubleshooting
After reading more I don't believe the encoder has an led controller it just allows for the buttons to light up when you press them. Thanks for answering though. -
Sounds like a good idea you should make a BitBucket ticket.

LEDBlinky - LaunchBox not keeping controls lighted
DOS76 replied to johnstewart's topic in Troubleshooting
I just looked into using LEDBlinky for the 1st time but it doesn't seem to work with the Zero Delay Encoders so it looks like I'm SOL for now any chance that support for these will be added at one point. -
I've never had much luck with Makaron personally and I don't think it has been updated in years.

Yeah the setting I had you use is to pass the rom -dat= might work but I don't know as I've never used those files to run Demul if you are already using MAME I would suggest not bothering with the dat files but that is just me.
-
Are they .zip files? If you are using the latest version of Demul they are looking for a pretty recent ROM set from MAME a lot of the files I had set up before no longer worked in with Demul. If you have a fairly recent MAME you should see my download found here it will help you extract the correct ROMs from MAME put it in a separate folder and allow you to import the games much easier. For the Sega Naomi GD and Naomi 2 GD section you will also need the appropriate CHD files in order to get the games to work I'm thinking of adding a txt file for next time that will list the CHD files helping users narrow down their search.

Zero Delay is just the name of them they are like the ultrimarc or ipac ones except they are much cheaper and you need one for each controller so you need more powered USB ports. Here is a link I bought mine in a set with the buttons and joysticks also included but the encoders are reasonably priced and so far in my experience work very well. The fact they are seen as gamepads is a nice feature that I didn't even realize I was getting when I purchased them.

1st if you are already using Demul for DC in LB then you will need to setup a separate instance of the emulator in LB Name it Demul [Arcade] or something similar to differentiate the two instances. This is because the DC and Arcade boards need conflicting parameters. These 2 screen shots should help you get up and running. FYI if you wish to use Gaelco games you will have to set up another instance of Demul this time with a 2nd emulator unless you want to use the oldDX11 drivers for everything as it doesn't work with the newer driver. If anyone might knows how to pass the video driver in the command line then this might solve that but I don't know if that is configurable from the command.

I'm glad I got the zero delay encoders for my arcade machine and the controllers are seen as gamepads and not keyboards but this sounds like it should be a great add on for people who don't.

Couldn't you make your script use a button combo and then you couldn't close it as easily by mistake

I've done this before with an external and the girl actually checked the serial number on the bottom of the enclosure which was fine because I swapped it for a bad internal drive and used the right enclosure so I would be hesitant to just return a drive that the serial numbers are clearly visible. The drive was still under warranty when I returned it it was just much more expedient then waiting for an RMA from WD (this is my moral justification for my actions but the truth is WD and BestBuy can afford to take a loss much more than I can and I'm going to get them before I let them get me).

I've been meaning to ask this for a while now too. I love the shaders in RA but don't have them set up in MAME/MESS yet.
-
I have them separated in my collection since my Sega CD games use the Genesis GX Plus core and Sega CD 32 games require Pico Drive so I would either need a 2nd instance of RA with them mixed in. I could have added them to my 32X section and they would have launched fine but I just made a separate platform instead. I haven't been able to find any good artwork for it really though I feel as most content creators don't consider CD32X its own platform

Brad when you get the login screen and there is no way to sign in usually pressing ctrl alt delete brings up the sign in at least in my experience and also what smart warning are you getting I get the excessive head parking a lot due to a way that the drives where spinning down due to power management settings but those drives have had those head parking (WD has since fixed this issue with the spin downs) warnings for years now and haven't failed. Most of my .smart warning say the drive doesn't seem ready to fail but those issues could cause problems that is all. Of course if your machine isn't working right then yeah maybe a new drive will fix you up.

I saw the final sale on this and he got $400 and some change don't recall the exact figure but it was close to what he was asking. -

See @ckpI've been here so long that the more average user was the more technical person and we shared work arounds, tips, short cuts and new methods to accomplish what we were trying to do and I've learned a lot of great stuff here that I'm glad wasn't automated.

Who r these normal people you refer to I've yet to encounter one.

Yeah it is in a cabinet but it would be super easy to build either a one player box with the USB out the back or a two player setup. This is what I got it is super easy to wire once you look at the guys picture in the comments that tells you to make sure you have it wired correctly and how to do so I never would have figured it out on my own probably glad I saw this before working on it.

I just built a arcade machine and used zero delay encoders and they were very easy to setup since zero delay comes up as a gamepad. I've almost bought an X-Arcade a few times and now I'm glad I didn't.
