Pretty sure this was already done and had to be removed because the functionality breaks certain Android setups.
-
Feature already exists as a side bar filter. On the left hand side where you see "Platforms" or "Platform Categories" there is an options that is called "Games Missing Media" pick that and you have the ability to show only games missing a certain media type.
-
Fairly certain that view uses what ever image group you're using in LaunchBox for that platform. If you open LaunchBox and go to Atari 7800 and change the image group to 3D boxes it'd look the same. The image in the top isn't our 3D model, it's the 3D Box Image.

No need to apologize, I just didn't realize you added images to the OP instead of replying with them. MAME really shouldn't be used for non-arcade games unless it the only thing that can play them. RetroArch or stand alone emulators are better for pretty much every system they cover. I admit the assumption is on our end that people would only use MAME for MAME games and can see how that can cause some confusion. Staff is aware of the issue and we'll discuss internally if we want to make any changes to the process.

Just saw you added pictures to your initial post. Yeah the fact that you're pointing to MAME as the emulator is the issue. When using MAME as the emulator we ask MAME for info on the game you're passing, and since non arcade titles are SWL entries it doesn't return any info and so LB see's it as an invalid rom. If you change that entry to something else you should be good to go.

To be honest a lot of what you're saying doesn't make a ton of sense to me. We don't pay ANY attention to the folder path the game is in unless you tell us to via import. LaunchBox is entirely portable as well and we don't save anything to a shared space or registry entry. Could you show me what the contents of your genesis rom folder looks like so I can see? Also a pic of the options you are using in the import would help a lot.

Sounds a lot like you have one of the "Hide Games Missing..." options on and have already imported the games the first time. Go to the View > Show/Hide menu in LaunchBox and make sure none of the "Hide Games Missing..." options are checked. Another good way to check if the import is saying "0 files found" or no games are listed in the last page of the wizard is to go back to the import options page and select "Force Import duplicate games" and then continue. If they then show up, you already have the games imported into your collection.

As Neil stated originally. You need to email support@unbrokensoftware.com and ask them for the installer.

We don't have a Language field so no built in method will be perfect. You could probably create an auto-populated playlist to find them by using the following criteria though, it won't be exact because a lot of country specific versions were still multilingual, but will get you closer. Region - Has None of the Values - United States; North America; Europe

While importing there is an option that says "Combine games with the same title". Leave that checked and all versions of a ROM will be collapsed into a single game entry. Then you have access to them all but only require media for the parent game.

Best way to delete 'every thing' from a particular console
C-Beats replied to MrSlippery's topic in Noobs
There is an option via Tools > Options to delete ROMs on game deletion. If that is off no ROM files will ever be deleted from your drive. Even if it's on that deletion event has it's own popup explicitly for it. When deleting the platform the first prompt is just saying that it deletes all LB game entries within that platform. If that option is on a second prompt should appear asking if you want to delete the ROM files. Then a final prompt appears asking if you'd like us to remove all artwork/media you have for this platform.- 1 reply

How did you import your ROMs? I'm fairly certain all of our imports recommend MAME for Arcade, and Full Set Importer doesn't even work with Retroarch. This is because you haven't set the core for RetroArch (which again the Wizard would have asked you for in any recent version of LaunchBox). To adjust it in the upper right menu of LaunchBox go to Tools > Manage > Emulators. Select Retroarch and press edit. In the window that appears (Edit Emulator) click "Associated Platforms" find the row with the first column set to "Arcade" you will see in the Core column you have it set to 2048_libretro (or something similar). You need to set that to the core you wish to use. Alternatively you could add MAME as an emulator, then go to the same tab and add Arcade to it and set it as the default emulator for your games and run your collection through MAME instead. Some features of LB/BB require you to be using MAME for Arcade games to function properly (mostly the high score functionality)

If your account can't be accessed at the ID URL provided in the wizard than you have NOT performed the steps list in the wizard as instructed. Please read the wizard and if required the post linked in the wizard. Pretty obvious at this point you haven't. Your profile and your ID aren't the same thing and no custom URL ever uses the profile endpoint. In fact if you did the steps we asked of you the Steam page itself says right on it "Your profile will be available at: https://steamcommunity.com/id/..."

I'd verify that you don't have extra files that don't belong in your Data folder. We've seen this issue caused by files with "backup" in their filename located in the Data folder.
-
Interesting concept but I'm not sure how that would affect things. I'll do some testing on my end and see if I can replicate. In the meantime would it be possible for you to zip your entire data folder and PM it to me so I can use it for testing and see if I can replicate the issue on my end?
-
Can you move them out of there and try again and let me know if you still have the issue? I've seen some issues when using the configurator next plugin before, but I don't believe it was that exact issue. Also didn't think it worked or was needed with the newest version of that emulator (but admit I haven't looked into it very deeply so could be mistaken)
-
Are you running any plugins?
-
I wonder if the data is saving but your side bar just isn't refreshing properly. Your one image shows there is a mismatch between the data shown in the side bar and in Game Details. If you change sidebar filters from developer to platform, then back again does the value remove itself properly?

7-zip returned an error while trying to extract the archive
C-Beats replied to rwfresh's topic in Troubleshooting
As long as you don't have an overzealous antivirus program quarantining some of your LaunchBox files we use a 7z dll placed in the proper spot by the installer to unextract files. If your emulator supports reading of zip files (or whatever extensions yours are in) then you can go to Manage Emulators and just change your emulator to not extract archive on launch and probably avoid that process entirely. -
Unfortunately you will run into a LOT of issues running LaunchBox as administrator because it messes with how we determine what path the app is ran from which can cause a LOT of downstream issues. You should be able to go to the exe in file explorer for the application you're trying to load and right click it and go to properties then tell Windows to run the executable as admin and have it work that way. Though I'd be wary of using ANYTHING that REQUIRES admin level access. If it needs that access to write files the app probably wasn't written correctly.
-
You have an picture or a copy/paste of the error you're seeing?
-
The only time I've seen reports of this is when a user has been using Skraper and it places backup files in your Data folder that don't belong. Please go to your \\LaunchBox\Data\Platforms\ folder and make sure there is only one file per platform and no files with a "-backup" suffix.

Odd behaviour in BB & LB with startup screens
C-Beats replied to GizzmanSL2's topic in Troubleshooting
You can probably turn down the startup screen delay and see if that helps, though I'm fairly certain they are setup to close once the start process is up and running. Been a minute since I've been in that part of the code base to say with 100% accuracy -
Odd behaviour in BB & LB with startup screens

Have you verified that a setting didn't get changed in your emulator and you just aren't showing the BIOS/Boot screen anymore?
