    Noob Issues

You need to specify the core you want to use in the associated platforms tab of the edit emulator screen (you need to do this for all systems if using retroarch if you dont want to use the generic defaults we pre-populate, in this case it is pre-populated with a core that is no longer in retroarch). You need to set a controller combo in the controller mappings section of the Bigbox options for "close active window".
  2. I'm confused by this, the snes controls are set up on a XBOX controller exactly the same way they were on a snes, four face buttons, and two shoulder buttons, so how is that terrible, it's exactly the same? As for Megadrive that is a little different as that was mostly a three button controller (i know there is a six button also though), so for that i use X, A and B as that is more or less a staright line from A to C just like the original controller.
  3. I would reject it, we are a games database, not a audio one. If someone wants to add music to there own collection thats up to them, but we shouldnt allow it in the database.
  4. Not sure about the Mortal Kombats, but Street Fighter lets you map any control to any button in the game itself.
  5. Well altered beast should work, but if you dont know what romset you have then how do you know you have the correct version of MAME? Im gonna assume thats the issue, wrong rom version for the version of MAME you are using, the romset version and the emulator version should always match. You cant just grab a random rom from the internet and the latest version of the emulator and expect it to work, thats not how MAME works i'm afraid, everything is versioned for a reason and roms are only guaranteed to work with that one matching version, they may work with other versions, but that is not guaranteed.
  6. Its a rom not compatible with mame, or you are missing the CHD? Maybe you should actually name the rom rather than making people guess, might get a answer a lot quicker if we have more details.
  7. Well for one, dont download media you dont like/want is a good start in all cases, those specific videos are simply called "Theme Videos" in the emumovies section of the metadata and media wizard. In Bigbox there is a option to prefer theme videos i believe, so uncheck that also. Thirdly check your Video priorities in Launchbox and uncheck re-arrange to your liking.
  8. Its not a option, its built into mame that way, you need a "no nag" build of, these are not official builds , but are compiled by other people from the original source code. Mame 0.233 No-Nag - Third-party Apps and Plugins - LaunchBox Community Forums (launchbox-app.com)
  9. You have to turn on overlays and specify the cfg while you have a the DS core loaded with a game in it.
  10. Launchbox doesnt unzip roms at import, but it can unzip when launched via that checkbox, however they are not unzipped into your roms folder they are unzipped into a temp folder in the Launchbox folder structure and are deleted after. It does sound like you have something else going on though, but i can't say that i have ever used the standalone version of snes9x, could be it needs a specific commandline?
  11. There is a checkbox in the manage emulators screen for unzipping files, did you check that box for snes9x?
  12. Unless you are hiding games missing images.
  13. The database has only improved since you last used it, your roms must be really badly named to not scrape anything at all, do you have any examples of games naming that didnt scrape correctly? I only have 285 Amiga games myself, and i didnt have any issues scraping them, but my roms are just named as the game.
  14. Sounds like you want a harmony remote control with hub (uses RF/IR and Bluetooth) and that app, you wont find something that controls devices and also does wake on lan. I have this specific one below, but it was only £70 when i bought it and it works great to control all my devices, i have it controlling these devices. LG C9 OLED, Sony AVR. PC (PC needs Bluetooth), XBOX Serie S, Playstation 4, Fire TV, Shield TV, Sky Q DVR, 5 port HDMI 2.0 switcher. Harmony remotes can support 270,000 different devices (although that varies buy the remote you buy as most dont do Bluetooth, you need one with the hub for that). Logitech Harmony Companion Universal Remote Control for SKY, Apple TV, fireTV, Alexa, Roku, Netflix, Sonos and Smart Home, One-Touch Actions, Easy Set-Up App, LG/Samsung/Sony/Hisense/Xbox/PS4 - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo
  15. If you are killing it in task manager that is why you are not getting the prompt, Launchbox saves it's settings when you exit, but you are not exiting it, you are just killing it in task manager so that setting isnt saved. You only need to enter a email to download the setup file, and it wont delete your games.
  16. Why??? Whats wrong with the X top right?
  17. Ignore @C-Beats, he is wrong you dont have that option in such a old version. Just do as already instructed, turn on the updates and then close and re-open Launchbox to trigger the update.
  18. I told you, in your Launchbox folder is a Updates folder.
  19. Close and re-open Launchbox, that option clearly says check for updates on startup, so you need to restart Launchbox.
  20. Then you dont need a beta, just update. Version 6 is like 4 years old.
  21. Oh you want to go back to the stable 11.12? Go to your Launchbox/Updates folder and install the 11.12 setup file over the top of your current install.
  22. No, but some things may break, only update to beta if you are willing to test buggy software and report issues you come across in our beta thread.
  23. Yeah, you cant directly edit the default themes, that is by design as a safeguard so there is always a working theme to fall back to, other themes can be directly edited though.
  24. Could also turn off "different views per platform" in the options so that all platforms are always the same view.
  25. Its probably due to the fact that Launchbox is Windows only for the most part, so 99% of the users here will be Windows users that do not use Linux, if they even are aware of what it is. I have huge respect for Linux, but lets be honest its a very niche OS, and as Launchbox is a Windows application most people on this forum will be running Windows. I have no doubt we have Linux users here, but i bet they also have a Windows machine, and thats what they run Launchbox on, Launchbox has full compatibility there and most people want a frontend that just works, not one that needs constant babysitting like what is required to get this up and running on Linux, not to mention the added complexity of running on Linux, (heavy use of the terminal, installing repositories being just two concepts that are completely alien to most Windows users) most people just want to click install on Windows and go.
