c64 C64 Dreams (massive curated C64 collection)

@Zombeaver not sure what i'm doing wrong, but I did a fresh install with this and I can't get past the launchbox "initializing" prompt. Did I miss a step somewhere? -

@Zombeaver fantastic work once again! thank you very much for the latest update! -
Unfortunately you won't get most of the modern (post 2000) systems' games to run with those PC specs. Based on my own personal experience, even with my i7, 16gb ram, Nvidia 750GTX, it's barely able to play PS3 games and I get mixed results with Wii U and 3DS. Granted, these emulators have come a very long way and are getting better very quickly, but they are meant to be played with a "gamer" PC more than anything else. Although there are a few emulators out there which are very well optimized for even the slower/older computers people may be using, including redream, ppsspp, and dolphin. If I were you, I'd wait another year or so to upgrade properly, until these emulators "mature" a bit and get the bugs worked out, especially the xbox and xbox 360 ones.

Sure, have fun!

Yep, this one is fairly clear and simple to follow. Here you go

For the Windows version of Launchbox? Then the answer is yes. (not available with Android at the moment). Just put the images in their appropriate folders (jpg or png) with the exact same name as the game, For example: C : \launchbox\Images\Atari 2600\Box - Front game name: Asteroids (USA) box image name: Asteroids (USA).png

It definitely depends on your hardware, but with the newer games (PlayStation 2, Dreamcast, 3DS), games will load up faster if the program files are stored on your "C" drive especially if it's a SSD. To do my own comparison tests, I've run some pre-made setups which included frontend, emulator, games, etc. and the load time was about 2-5 seconds longer per game when run from an external drive.

"Seller disappeared" I think I've heard that a few times before?? Launchbox can be made portable and run off an external drive. Just keep your roms on the drive and delete all of the hyperspin-related files. However, it would run noticeably faster and more efficiently if you kept the launchbox files on your main "C" drive and keep the roms on the external drive. That's your call though.

Just wanted to pointed this one out as a reference also. If anyone wants to play Gorf on any of the Atari 5200 emulators, the controls are a complete mess, however there is a patched/hacked version which is discussed here: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/89771-how-to-play-5200-gorf/ and it plays normally with that particular patch ?

You might want to find a proper RPCS3 tutorial somewhere on youtube or elsewhere, but from what I can see, you need the .rap file associated with that particular game and it should be placed in the "rpcs3\dev_hdd0\home\00000001\exdata" folder

This was a pretty lengthy and interesting article, but it would have been more helpful if you provided some testing results, compatibility reports, personal reccomendations based on experience, pros-cons, etc.

Nostalgia-Bedroom Remake View File Nostalgia - Bedroom (an 80's style BigBox theme) Ready for something new, mixed together with something a little bit old and familiar? Here is my own 'retro' style version (fork) of the great "Nostalgia" theme, originally created by @eatkinola, whose fantastic themes can also be found here on the launchbox forums. This is a simple 1980's bedroom style version of that same "Nostalgia" theme with custom-designed layouts, corresponding to various computer, handheld and console systems. As of now, there are over 30 unique systems I've designed, with more to come in the near future. I'm not sure if I'll be doing anything with arcade platforms (mame, etc.), at least not for now. New version: While this theme was originally a fork of eatkinola's great "Nostalgia" theme, it's been drastically changed since there were some recent changes with the way BigBox handles themes. Keep in mind, this theme will only work with newer versions of Launchbox/Bigbox (after version 11.0). I'll also be releasing a few more versions of this same theme with different televisions and computer monitors in the future. So stay tuned! More notes: A very big thank you to @y2guru for his amazing COMMUNITY Theme Creator for BigBox! Without his excellent theme designing program I wouldn't have been able to re-create this theme. Really. A short video-preview of the updated version will be coming soon ? UPDATE (April 26, 2021) Here is a fixed version I put together with Community Theme Creator, which is a bit more simple than the previous version. I had to abandon the older version (1.1) since it no longer works (since version 10.0?) and created this "Remake" to use less resources. In the coming days, weeks, and months I'll add more systems, new screenshots and also add the source code for anyone who wants to customize this. Enjoy! Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a way to keep the settings for Vice in its emulator folder, although there's an option which reads "Save settings to..." which didn't seem to work for me. Maybe there's another way around that issue, but I'm not sure.

You might want to consider updating to the last version of Vice, which was released only about a month ago https://sourceforge.net/projects/vice-emu/files/experimental binaries/ That's been able to run pretty much 100% of the games I've tried, even with trainers. Also "Hoxs64" is another great emulator for the Commodore 64 and it runs pretty much everything with a slightly easier interface http://www.hoxs64.net/

Wow! I really like all of the latest updates to this theme. Only thing I noticed was that the "ListBoxScrollCenterNS" plugin was included but not implemented into the textlistview. However, I was able to easily find a way to add the code in there, for anyone who wants the games list centered. (check the file below). Also, what would be nice is to have the same fanart view on the textlistview which is used in the platforms/systems list view. In other words, it would be nice to have something like this which is already available: with this for the games-list view And that would be the icing on the cake! TextListView.xaml

Anyone feel like testing a 4:3/5:4/1280x1024 theme?
bundangdon replied to dbinott's topic in Big Box Custom Themes
Tested now and I couldn't really get the most out of it (for obvious reasons) since I'm using a 1920x1080 screen. But I do like the clean and basic style, as it would be great for anyone who wants to focus more on arcade games in their setup
