If you are willing to get your hands a bit dirty, I uploaded a small proof of concept package to It shows how to augment MAME with yet another overlay/bezel via a small AutoHotkey program. You could easily extend the code to support other emulators (something I plan to do myself as I get time).

Thanks for the update! I do get an error when I select just cores in the drop-down. The error says it can't connect to server. Afterward the app seems to do something, but I'm not sure what. -

This new v0.8.4 beta version crashes on my Win7 laptop, whereas the v0.8.3 beta version does not. I don't know what to tell you since I don't see a log file. Please let me know what I can do to help debug it. -

The main purpose of the included AutoHotKey code was a proof of concept. I wanted to add an additional "overlay" to the standard GCE Vextrex overlays that come furnished with the MAME artwork files (see the attached picture). Sort of a single purpose function similar to what RocketLauncher can do. The attached file has two main parts, one, a file with the name of vextrex.zip. This is a replacement for the standard MAME overlays and should be placed in your artwork folder under your MAME installation location. The included png files are higher quality that the default overlays. Note: I did not create these files. I just packaged them up after having sourced them around the Internet. Second, a file with a name of Overlays.7z. Extract this archive in your LaunchBox installation directory. You will then have an Overlays directory with two subdirectories, e.g. Code and Vectrex. The code directory has the "proof of concept" source called showbezel.ahk (Note: this source requires the popular gdip.ahk library, which is allowed to be distributed with this archive). This can be run as-is from the Code directory and should wait until MAME runs a Vectrex rom, then display my custom overlay from the Vectrex directory. You can also take the showbezel.ahk source and paste it into the "AutoHotkey Script" tab if you have created a custom Emulator entry to execute Vectrex roms in Launchbox (don't run a stand alone copy of the script if you do this). For example, I created a new emulator called Vectrex, but it points to my MAME64.exe program. I then created an entry under the "Associated Platforms" tab with "GCE Vectrex" as the "Associated Platform" and with the "Default Emulator" box checked. I also have used the ability to "Use Custom Command-Line Parameters:" for each Vectrex rom so MAME uses the vectrex.zip artwork file, example: vectrex -cart %romfile% -view "star castle" (see the attached picture for more info). -

Thank you, sir, for all your contributions. Your tutorial videos are what brought me into the Launchbox arena. -
Try putting a trailing / after entering your Steam profile id in the LaunchBox entry field.

Give that person a cigar! Wow, why isn't that mentioned anywhere, like a sticky at the top of this forum? Hint, hint. Many thanks!

Hi, I just decided to start getting into creating my own themes, so I looked in my Themes directory for the documentation.pdf file, but it wasn't there. The only thing in that directory was a ReadMe.txt and a CriticalZone directory. This was from a fresh 7.7 install. I haven't been running any of the recent beta releases, so I enabled them and installed the latest beta, 7.8 beta 10, just in case it would include the file, but no joy. Any idea what is going on? Has that file been discontinued from the installation?

For what it is worth, I have added three more platforms to my installation, Atari 7800, Atari Jaguar & Atari Lynx. All three of these had there platforms clear logo misnamed as a jpg file when the file was actually a png file. When importing everything for the Jaguar, it also created the extra Border directory for it as with the 2600, but not for the 7800 or Lynx. Something strange is afoot, that is for sure, but I am unable to know where to point to being unfamiliar with everything at this point.

Hi, another new HyperSpin convert. I am starting slow, going through the tutorials on YouTube, then looking at the results of the installation of a particular emulator on the file system so I can understand what was done. I have only installed the Atari 2600 so far, and so far, so good, but I do have a couple of questions related to this installation that I do not understand. 1. When I edit the Atari 2600 platform and look at the Folders tab, the Banner images folder points to Images\Atari 2600\Banner, but when I look in this folder, I see only a few image files, plus a subfolder called Banner which appears to contain the remainder of the images. Why did this structure get created like this? 2. In the "Platforms\Atari 2600\Clear Logo" directory, I see a file called "Atari 2600.jpg" that has been downloaded, however this file isn't a jpg file, it is a png file. Should I rename this file to "Atari 2600.png"? Thanks!

Here is a link to a huge, clear logo for Windows 3.1, http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/logopedia/images/b/b3/Windows_logo_%28Pre-XP%29_alt._color.svg.png/revision/latest?cb=20160311145452. You can resize it, etc., do whatever you want with it.
