  2. Sony Playstation JAPAN 16:9 1080p Platform Theme

I tend to keep my Translated and Japanese exclusive games separate from my North American/PAL region games in BigBox and have created this Sony Playstation (Japan) platform theme video. I Wanted to share with the community in case anyone else does the same with their collections and could use this in their setup. I do plan on redoing the video snap used for this theme in better quality so I will be updating this at a later date.
Two different versions to choose from: Game Audio and Remixed Audio

  4. The Year 199X: System Intro Videos

These are system/platform intros that I've made with the primary intention of being used with the CityHunter theme which can be found here. Thanks to CriticalCid and keltoigael for this theme!
The file sizes are large, but a high bitrate was necessary in order to avoid these turning into muddy macroblock messes. The addition of digital noise, smoke, VHS damage artifacts, etc. adds a lot of visual information that necessitates a higher than normal bitrate in order to avoid compression artifacts. Believe me, I tried multiple lower rates and they looked awful.
These need to be placed in Launchbox -> Videos -> Platforms.
Keep in mind that the files may need to be renamed slightly based on the names used in your library - if your platform is named "Panasonic 3DO" rather than just "3DO" you'll need to rename the video accordingly to match the name of the platform in your library.
    Platforms currently covered:
    3DO
    Amiga
    Arcade
    Atari 8-bit
    Atari 2600
    Atari 5200
    Atari 7800
    Atari Jaguar
    Atari ST
    Atomiswave
    Capcom CPS-1
    Capcom CPS-2
Classic PC (a custom platform I've created in my library for post-DOS era PC games of the mid-90's to early 00's)
    Commodore 64
    GCE Vectrex
    MS-DOS
    MUGEN
    NeoGeo
    Neo Geo Pocket Color
    Nintendo 64
    Nintendo DS
    Nintendo Entertainment System
    Nintendo Game Boy
    Nintendo Game Boy Advance

    Sony Playstation
    Sony Playstation 2
    Sony PSP
    Super Nintendo
    SuperGrafx
    Taito Type X
    TurboGrafx-16
    TurboGrafx-CD
    Windows

    Platform Categories:

    Arcade
    Computers
    Consoles
    Handhelds
I realize there's still going to be some outstanding platforms for some people so I'm also accepting requests for additional platforms which I'll work through as I'm able.

The clear logos and platform banners shown in the demo are also available in the downloads section:
For full effect, I'd also recommend putting some good Synthwave tracks in your Launchbox -> Music -> Background folder and enabling background music in Big Box. You can find a lot of good stuff in the genre on Bandcamp and New Retro Wave's Youtube channel. Here's my current playlist of tracks I'm using in my library if you want some inspiration:
Now you're ready to experience Big Box in a neon-drenched haze of cyberpunk goodness

  8. Computer Platform Theme Videos (16:9)

Decided to do some platform theme videos for computer systems. First up is Windows, but I have interest in making themes for Steam, Origin and GOG services (for those of you that separate them) as well as MSX computers (will probably do a single one, but represent multiple generations of it). Unless there is a big interest in it, I probably won't make themes for the Uplay or Battle.net services. I will also include my clear logos for Windows and MSX; keep all Steam, Origin, GOG, Battle.net, Uplay under Windows in my setup.
Tried to incorporate elements of Windows 7 and 10 into the theme (not sure there is a big user base for 8): Windows 7 Start Orb and startup sound and the default Windows 10 wallpaper (first time Microsoft ever released a default wallpaper I didn't immediately change for something else; actually used it for the first year after upgrading to it). And, yes, I am team green, so I specifically looked for a rig with Nvidia's GPUs represented, so apologies to AMD users.... Actually it was the first high res image I found.
    Anyhow, enjoy!

  9. Ultrastar Deluxe Video Theme for Frontends

OK, here is my offering for Ultrastar Deluxe. This is a Karaoke style singing game much like Singstar. Yes I know this is a game and could/should be in the games section, but I use it as a standalone app and run it as a platform from the main menu. Now if we could only run a platform as an app directly from the top level menu in BigBox, I would be happy.
Here is a short clip of the video.
I also have a version that uses the Ultrastar Deluxe main menu music if you prefer that. That one is not synced to the music however.
You can find both versions here - https://mega.nz/#F!L5ZE2K5R!5VeE3wasVjTdbqoGp0mt9w

  10. Steam (Indie Games) Cinematic Video

  11. Microsoft MSX.mp4

I wasn't too pleased with the existing MSX 1 theme video's. They do not reflect the fond memories I have of some iconic games I played over and over again.
This is my first attempt on creating such a video. If people like it I may do more.

  12. Plex Platform Videos

These are 2 Platform videos I made for Plex Media Player. It took me a long while to conceptualize something that would work for it. So hopefully others with HTPCs using BigBox as their primary end will appreciate this.
I've also attached some other media that could be used in big box for plex I used the Translucent - STEAM PC 2D DVD COVER (.PSD) 1.0.1 template for the fancy Box front, so all credit for the nicer looking one goes to @twasjesto

I hope you all enjoy this :-)
EDIT I went ahead and attached a Plex clear logo that I think would work nicely with @Rincewind's BigBox theme.

  13. Nintendo Super Game Boy Platform Theme Video (16:9)

Here it is! Took a while, but I think I'm happy with this.
i tried to make this one a little extra special, so I hope you all enjoy it, too. There's a little reference in the video that fans of Nintendo Power will surely remember.

  14. MSU-1 Platform Theme Video (16:9)

A theme video for MSU-1 enhanced games. I use a separate platform category for these, so I made a video for anyone else that does the same. The song is called "Catharsis" by Geoplex. You can download for free at Newgrounds:  http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/724826

    MSU-1 Platform Theme Video (16:9)
If you are unfamiliar with MSU-1: MSU-1 (Media Streaming Unit – Revision 1) is a Super Nintendo-only, processing architecture developed by Byuu, author of the bsnes/Higan emulator. This technology brings a realization to “what could have been” had Nintendo not abandoned the deal with Sony to develop a CD-ROM add-on for the Super Nintendo. Instead of getting the Sony PlayStation as a standalone console, it would have been the Nintendo Play Station CD-ROM attachment for the Super Nintedo.
This technology allows for an additional 4GBs of storage for Super Nintendo games. It’s primary use, thus far, has been to create CD quality soundtracks for Super Nintendo games. It can also be used to add FMVs (The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past) and, in some case, allows for games to be ported to the Super Nintendo (the Sega CD FMV game Road Avenger has been ported to the Super Nintendo using this technology).
In many cases, the CD soundtracks have been provided, royalty-free, but there are some exceptions and you must buy the soundtracks from the composer(s) (Chrono Trigger being one such case).
Currently, Byuu’s own emulator is compatible with this technology (the bsnes cores in RetroArch are also compatible) and SNES9X (as of version 1.54 - thanks for the correction @lordmonkus) as is the Super Nintendo flash cartridge, SD2SNES.
There are currently 10 games that have patches to make use of this technology (all of them featured in the video), but it is technically compatible with all Super Nintendo games, should any one decide to put in the leg work to make a patch.
More info on this is here:

  15. Hacks & Fan-Made Platform Theme Video (16:9)

This is my very first attempt (now a revised attempt; see further down the page) at a theme video since starting to learn After Effects two days ago. Being my first, it's not the best, but since there isn't really much of anything out there, I hope it's at least good enough for now. As I improve with the software, I'll probably come back and re-visit this. I also intend to make Game Theme videos for lesser paid attention to platforms (Hacks, MSX, Amiga, Lynx, Gameboy, etc., etc.).
In any case, don't be too harsh! Hope you all like it:
