  1. Griddle BoxView

    ****** NOTE THIS THEME IS BUILT FOR FOR STANDARD BOXART TO BE SHOWN ON THE FLOWCONTROL WHEEL. IF YOU WOULD RATHER USE STEAM STYLE BANNERS THEN DONWLOAD THE THEME GRIDDLE BANNERS INSTEAD *********

    Following on from the NesicaxLive theme I created previously this is my second theme - GRIDDLE
    Unlike the Nesica theme this theme should scale correctly to most 16:9/16:10 resolutions. I have tested at 1080p but the theme has been built with images sized suitably for 4k displays. If anyone has a 4k display and would like to test this and feedback in the comments section that would be appreciated.
    Also as with the Nesica theme I created this theme has additional elements included within it for Publisher/Developer logos to be displayed and also controller layouts to be shown for each platform. I have also included in seperate zip files below the platform fanart I have used in the screenshots above should you want to do the same in your setup (note unlike theme itself which is drawn to 4k the fanart are only 1080p but should scale ok up to 1080p). With regards the game/platform videos I recommend using default videos for this theme without other elements to keep the look clean and in 4:3 ratio where possible - videos shown in screenshots are all available from emumovies.
    If you want to change or add additional controller layout images you just need to drop the images into the following directory within your Launchbox directory /Themes/Griddle/Images/Controls/Platform Name (you may need to create the relevant Platform Name if it does not already exist)
    All views are the same layout but with different colour themes applied. This allows you to set each platform to a different colour scheme but whilst keeping a consistent look and feel throughout.
    Any issues, recommendations etc. are always welcome.
    For anyone who has posted on the Nesica theme I am going back and working on that one currently to make that one responsive so it scales to other resolutions and also adding in some of the features from this theme so expect a 2.0 Nesica release soon.

    Thanks

  2. NESiCAxLive Theme

    Click to view video of theme
    Introduction
    This theme was originally requested by @Evilmaster and is designed to mirror the interface of the NESiCAxLive system Taito use in their TypeX2 mutli-game cabinets. The theme has been completely rebuilt from the ground up in version 2.0 and should now scale correctly for all resolutions.
    The theme does include the ability to display publisher logos as well as game specific control layouts within the interface. The theme is also built around using steam-style banners - I have detailed the simplest way to set this up currently in Launchbox below as the wheel does not support steam banners as a games view currently without some tweaking of your library. It will however, now also work with standard game boxes but I highly recommend that you set the option to remember different views per platform so that you can use the view that works best for the given platform cover art / banners you are using.
    Installation
    Unzip the NESiCAxLive folder to your Launchbox /Themes directory into a subfolder called NESiCAxLive.
    Setting up Steam Banners
    In order to setup the steam banners you will need to download steam banners for your games manually as unfortunately Launchbox does not yet automatically download these particular files for anything other than Steam games. Some good resources I have used to get these images from are:
    http://consolegrid.com/
    http://steambanners.booru.org/index.php
    http://www.steamgriddb.com/
    (Thanks to @Evilmaster for pointing me in the direction of these)
    When you download the images and add them to your games make sure you set them as Steam Banners within the game options in Launchbox. Then for them to be used in the theme correctly set the priority of the boxes view to prioritise Steam Banners first - if you ever want to revert this it is then simply a case of lowering the priority of the steam banners in the boxes list rather than having to remove or reorganise images. To do this open Launchbox and go to Tools --> Options and in the window that appear select Box Front Properties in the Images section and use the Up button to move the Steam Banners to the top of the list.
    Setting up Control Layouts
    Open the theme directory and browse to Images/Controls - in here you will find a folder for most systems, if the system you want to add control layouts for is not listed create a new Folder in this directory ensuring the folder name matches the platform name in Launchbox exactly. In each platform directory you will find a minimum of two files; controller.png and buttons.png. Using your preferred PNG image editing program (Photoshop or GIMP are recommended) open both files as layers. You can then position the buttons over the controller image as you want. When done you can hide the controller layer and just save the new button layout into the directory to replace buttons.png. This file will then be loaded by the theme and the animation applied automatically to fade it in and out.
    Setting up Developer Logos
    By default Launchbox/BigBox does not grab Developer/Publisher logos. I have downloaded many of the most common ones already and included in the theme. If you find that the view you are using needs developer logos and the one you need is missing you can simply download from the internet - ensuring it is a PNG file with transparent background - and place the file in the images/company logos subfolder of the theme directory ensuring the file is named exactly the same as the developer of the game/system is listed in LaunchBox.
    The Platform Views
    There are 4 Platform Views to select from shown below:
      Platform View 1 - Banner View with Recently Played Items Bar
    Platform View 2 - Banner View with Favorites Items Bar
    Platform View 3 - Banner View with no Bar
    There is also the Text Only Platform View
    The Game Views
    Horizontal Banner View *
    Horizontal Boxes View
    Horizontal Carts/CD/DVD View
    Horizontal Screenshots View
    Vertical Logos View
    Vertical Banners View *
    Text List View
    Small Banner View *

    * Requires Front Images configured with Steam Banner as the top priority and for Steam Banner images to be present in your library to display correctly.

  4. GPDWin

    GPDWin is a lightweight theme for use on the portable GPDWin computer. Since the portable has limited storage, the theme only uses clear logos and game screenshots. Along with being lightweight, an customizer application is included that lets the end user change nearly all of the theme related colors (text colors, highlight colors, star rating colors, etc.) comfortably from a GUI without having to edit any code.
    Even though the theme itself is pretty basic, I put a lot of love into the ability to customize it easily and visually. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it

    A couple of notes:
    The customizer app, GPDWinCustomizer.exe, is in the root theme folder and needs to be run from there, don't move it. The whole theme was designed around 1280x720 because of its target platform, but it does look good at 1920x1080. Anything other than those weren't tested so I can say, but it does rely on 16:9 AR. Display scaling above 100% was tested minimally, hopefully I caught everything but please let me know if you spot any weirdness above 100% The controller images on the banners I made are from the OpenEmu GitHub. I won't be making any more...head there, grab the images, and get creative. The star rating in this one is pure XAML, not images. This was done so the colors would be changeable by the end user. It's a new way of doing it (with a gradient, some math, and tons of code) but the end result is identical to image swapping. On the Text List views, the opacity of the overlay is tied to the setting in the BigBox menu. Adjust it as needed for readability. Scrolling text was not implemented to help with performance And finally, some images:

    Wow finally ready to release!! First off I have to mention that this is my first attempt to design a theme and secondly thank you to @viking as it was the base for the theme, and @criticalcid for all the help when I got stuck
    Please install the font supplied in the folder before you start.
    This theme has been designed around these platform clear logos and I recommend installing them to get the intended look
    - simply download them and add them in the  ...\ LaunchBox \ Themes \ <Theme name> \ Images \ Platforms \ Clear Logo.
    Remember to make sure the files are named the same as your platform name.

    I also recommend using these platform images.
    - simply download them and add them in the  ...\ LaunchBox \ Themes \ <Theme name> \ Images \ Platforms \ Banner.
    Remember to make sure the files are named the same as your platform name.

  6. GCFE

    A simple, clean, bare-bones, theme. Comes with 1 Platform View and 1 Game View. This theme is an off-shoot of my CoverBox - Gamecube theme. I liked it enough that I decided to turn it into a generic theme that can be used for any system.
    This theme is designed to run in 1080p, and has been tested to run properly in 720p and 4k.
    Installation Instructions

    Platform View
    Designed to move out of the way of the full screen platform videos, while still retaining a semblance of menu awareness. The bar fades completely away after a few seconds, and the clear logos fade to 10% of its opacity.

  7. Genesis State

    Genesis State is the first of a couple themes I plan on producing specifically meant to emulate the feeling of the original game systems box art styles.
    This theme is purely for use with the Sega Genesis emulators (you can use it for other systems but why would you?). It currently has one view for game play style videos.
    Looking for some feedback and ideas on how to improve it. Let me know. I plan to add some more views based on feedback.
    Thanks to @eatkinola for use of his Themer addon, I used it to create the random video background effect.

  10. CityHunter Background Videos

    These are some (10 currently) cyperpunk-themed background videos designed to be used with the CityHunter Big Box theme. I am not the creator of the original artwork used in these videos - all credit for the art goes to them. I simply converted them into a video format and did some cropping and color adjustment (because they look slightly darker once they're in Big Box). Most of these (all but "Camera" currently) are the work of the incredibly-talented kirokaze of DeviantArt. If he (or any other artists whose work are used in these) would like me to take them down, they can send me a message or post a comment and I'll remove them immediately.
    These need to be placed in Launchbox -> Themes -> CityHunter -> Videos -> BackgroundVideo. The video has to be named "Background.mp4" so choose the one you want to use and rename it to that. I also recommend setting your "Background Fade" to 0% in Options -> Views in order to keep them from being too dark.
    Enjoy!

  13. Switch Theme

    Switch  v1.0.3
    BigBox Theme
    8/30/2017

    Display scaling over 100% will cause alignment issues with the platform wheel banner images.

    Switch Changelog:
    v1.0.3 (8/30/2017):
    - moved the GrilaControlLibrary.dll to the theme Plugins folder, which is an added feature since the theme release (the .dll will still need to be un-blocked before launching BigBox)
    - fixed the large outline bug reported by @jamesclarke555 (thanks again for reporting it to me)
    v1.0.2 (5/2/2017):
    - redesigned Text Games View (thanks for the inspiration @NahuelDS)
    v1.0.1 (4/21/2017):
    - Dark version added
    v1.0.0 (4/20/2017):
    - Initial release

    Theme Description
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Switch is a very lightweight, clean theme that was designed to be as close to the original UI as possible. There isn't much artwork in this one: banners for the platform wheel view, covers for the box game view, and a video snap in the game details screen so it should run pretty smooth on low spec systems.
    It includes a custom control library that I've started to build that contains the battery status indicator as well as a separate 12 and 24 hour clock (since we can't change the format of the built-in one without changing Windows settings).
    Theme Notes
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    * Requires the file GrilaControlLibrary.dll to be un-blocked before launching BigBox. Make sure to do this for both the light and dark versions of the theme.
    * Utilizes the font Oxygen-Regular, which is included in the root theme folder. Install it before running this theme.
    * Designed for 1920x1080. I can't guarantee it will work at any other resolutions (really only the platform wheel), even in the same aspect ratio, because of the margin that is applied to the wheel to get it off center. The box game view and all text views are NOT affected by this and will work at any resolution, although text spacing and some other misc. elements may not look as perfect as they do at 1080.
    * Included is a sound pack for BigBox. Move it from the theme directory to LaunchBox\Sounds and select it in the BigBox options menu. It can also be downloaded here https://forums.launchbox-app.com/files/file/467-switch/
    * I've included some extra buttons and controller images along with the .PSD and .AI files to edit them if you feel the need. The extras can be swapped out to fit your system by simply copying them from the extras folder to the core image folder and renaming them. The file names have to match what's in the XAML, so you'll need to overwrite or delete the ones you are changing. Filenames are controller.png, play_button.png, and back_button.png.

    Alternate Versions

    1280x720 GPDWin focused version (video replaced with screenshot):

  15. Fundamental Theme

    Fundamental is a clean theme that focuses on big artwork. Large, high quality covers are recommended to get the best visual appearance.
    *********************************************************************************************************************
    A couple of notes about this theme:
    - After unzipping, you have to unblock the DLL that contains the font (in the plugin folder).
    -Requires the font Bebas Neue, included in the root theme folder. Install it before running BigBox.
    -Any display scaling above or below 100% is likely to cause alignment issues with some theme elements.
    -Because of the way the videos and their rounded corner mask re-size based on aspect ratio, you have to use WMP with this theme. VLC aligning in BigBox is horribly buggy at the moment and it doesn't work with the way things are accomplished in this theme.
    -I realize I could have accomplished my UI background files in pure XAML. I tested this and it decreased the theme's performance substantially, so I reverted back to using the images.
    -This theme is based around high quality vertical covers (1534x2100) for all platforms and game boxes (yes, even Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64). A good collection of them can be found at http://www.thecoverproject.net/. The theme will work with horizontal covers, it just won't look as intended.
    -Background opacity for the text based views is changed in the BigBox "Options" menu. A good setting range is 75-90 percent depending on your display.
    -I've included 12 custom platform banners that I made based on each systems game boxes. I may make a few more, but don't count on it. Be creative and make the ones you're missing yourself.

  17. NoshOnThis

    This is the initial release of NoshOnThis theme. Right now the theme is specifically optimized for 16:9 resolutions but that will be improved soon.
    Make sure to read the readme.txt in the theme root, there are a few fonts that need to be installed, Dense and Exo and for the moment the custom platform category banners need to be moved into your LaunchBox\Images folder but that was actually just fixed on the live stream I am on currently and should be released with 7.11.0.1 beta.
    This theme is packaged with a custom pack of platform banners, there are currently 63 of them. I will continue to create them and I am more than happy to take requests. I will also be releasing the banner pack separately as well. Make sure to clear your coverflow and platform wheel image cache or the custom banners will probably not show up for you.
    There is an easter egg included with the theme that will show up randomly 1-30 minutes when sitting on a platform or game view. You may need to increase your Attract Mode delay time in order to see it.
    Enjoy!

  20. Modern Mini

    This is a theme based on two themes.
    One is ClassicMini from @Grila https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/35204-classicmini/

    And the unfinished theme "Red 84" from @Jegeroel https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/35634-red-84/
    This theme is only possible with the helping hand from @Grila and his magic (and fast) codding skills.
    I only did the layouts (Kinda, because mostly it's based on what Grila did and Jegeroel) but I did some touches here and there.
    Also, I strongly recomend using @reignstumble console Artwork Packs : https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/33483-reignstumble-console-artwork-pack/
    The main focus is to have the video playing in the Background and launch the game right away.
    But if you want more info about the game (like the ROM filename) take a look on the details page.I've been using this theme for about two weeks, and haven't encountered any problem on it.

    If someone needs the PSD files, so they can change the buttons layout, feel free to PM me and I release the file.
    Again, it wouldn't not be possible with the help of Grila!
    I hope you guys enjoy it!

    Seems to be a display bug for the video alignment for few users on PlatformView 2 . It's random and it sounds like a bug in the video engine.

  22. ComixBox Theme

    ComixBox v1.0.2
    BigBox Theme
    2/23/2017
    Theme Description
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ComixBox is a theme based on old school comic book design. It relies heavily on having the proper artwork scraped for your systems and games including background fan art, screenshots, front cover images, etc. ComixBox also features some advanced animation techniques that have never been seen before in BigBox.
    Separate views were made for the diferent video snap aspects available. Utilize the option "Remember Separate View for Each Platform" in BigBox Options - Views to get the best visual from the theme (to avoid blank space on the sides of your video snaps).
    Theme Notes
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    * Requires the fonts Bangers and Clementine, which are included in the root theme folder. Install them before running BigBox.
    * The animations in the theme were ultimately just me experimenting with some stuff to try and bring something new to a BigBox theme. I thought they ended up pretty neat so I left them in. I do have a version without them that I'm planning on adding to the .ZIP file shortly.
    * The theme was ultimately designed for 1920x1080 but was tested to be fully working at these resolutions as well:
    1280x720 1366x768 1600x900
    Changelog
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    v1.0.2 (2/23/2017):
    Changed all the videos to use the background video object so they would stretch to fill their appropriate spaces Forced platform and game background videos to "On" in the theme settings file to compensate for the above change v1.0.1 (2/21/2017):
    Added fade effect to the title section so the text doesn't appear until after the animation passes (applies to platform and game views 1, 2, and 3) Added the transition selector codes back to the text views that was erroneously removed during development v1.0.0 (2/20/2017):
  23. NESiCAxLive Theme
    Introduction
    This theme was requested by @Evilmaster and is designed to mirror the interface of the NESiCAxLive system Taito use in their TypeX2 mutli-game cabinets. This is my first attempt at creating a theme so please be kind. The theme has been built for 1920x1080 resolution and is likely to look wrong in other resolutions currently. I may update the theme for other resolutions if there is sufficient interest for me to do so,
    The theme does include the ability to display publisher logos as well as game specific control layouts within the interface. The theme is also built around using steam-style banners - I have detailed the simplest way to set this up currently in Launchbox below as the wheel does not support steam banners as a games view currently without some tweaking of your library.
    The Views
    Platform Wheel 1 - Horizontal Banner View
    Platform Wheel 2 - Horizontal Logo View
  24. Optional Edit of City background video (CityHunter Theme)
    I wanted a little slower motion video of the city background video that came with the CityHunter theme, so I searched and ended up finding the original video it all came from, called Retrowave
    Putting it here so it's in a central location instead of buried within a thread, just in case anyone else wants to give it a try.
  25. BigForce Theme
    BigForce v1.0.0
    BigBox Theme
    02/08/2017
    Theme Description
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    BigForce is a modern, dark theme focused around the visual style of the computer graphics giant, nVidia. The idea is based off a RetroFE theme called Ergo Proxy by ryuuji that I adapted and modified for BigBox.

    Theme Notes
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    * Requires the fonts geforce-bold.ttf and geforce-light.ttf. Both are included in the root theme folder. Install them before running BigBox.
    * This theme is designed for 1080 but works well at the following resolutions with one missing reflection (due to the way it was implemented):
        -1280x720: no reflection of the details on the text views
        -1366x768: no reflection of the details on the text views
        -1600x900: partial reflection of the details on the text views
    * If you have your games rated in LaunchBox (5-star rating system), it will be reflected in the theme.
    * I made this based on high quality vertical covers for all systems, it's not going to look right with horizontal covers. I am aware of this, there's no need to tell me. A good source for these is http://www.thecoverproject.net/.
    * Included are a handful of vertical platform banners I made based off eash system's original box design. If the ones you need aren't included, get creative and make your own.
