  1. Yeah I'd rather stick with dfend since it takes care of the confs for you, and I'm used to it. Does this mint/mt-32 stuff apply to every dos game you run with those settings? Or are just certain games able to take advantage of it?
  2. I jus mean If you have wired controllers plugged in and map them to an emulator. Then when you turn the wireless one on and off for another emulator, does it Mess up the windows controller order so that when you go back to the emulator with the wired controller, the mapping no longer works since the order got shifted around when the wireless was on and off.
  3. I'd stil love to know if the 8bitdo controllers knock other wired controllers off their spot in the id line when they are turned off and on again. I'd love to get one , but need someone's experience first so I don't have a useless controller if it knocks the others around. That's why I've kept to all wired thus far.
  4. It would be the gameplay video sort of like vikings video where it is baked into the Television with super nintendo in front of it. So I think you could do it for each game's cabinet if the gameplay video was baked into that high res shot. Certainly an undertaking, but ever since I found the realistic arcade bezels that john merrit and orion's angel has put out i've been wanting better representation. That sort of "upped the game" so to speak.
  5. I know it's not going to be tackled soon, but we can always hope. It's a natural progression in the front-end world. It's only a matter of time. Just because it's always been done by RL doesn't mean it will never be done by a FE in the future ? You have already blown the other stuff out of the water in my opinion, in such a short time. so I have faith in you.
  6. Wow, I only have like 8 games on steam. I only use steam if there's no other way to get a game.
  7. I think that even if it's impossible to overlay on every game out there, perhaps a percentage would be better than nothing? I know even RL might run into a problem every now and then, but my success with their menu overlaying on top of a game has always been in the majority, with a game crash or problem being in the minority. I think it's worth being open to, and not just scrapping because it's impossible for ALL instances. Many things are impossible to account for every scenario and every game, we might not even have launchbox if that sort of concern was payed attention to. ?
  8. Someday maybe there will be nice high res photographs of the actual arcade cabinet front view. Now that would really complete the look. Its always ircked me a bit how the arcade stuff always has to use fake looking cab assets that are the same for every game. At least this has marquees though. I like this look a lot. If you teamed a real cab overlay for the gameplay vid with the realistic bezels for mame, oh man what a nice combo that would be.
  9. If LB doesn't find anything by scraping, then it's been an all manual thing for me. Whenever I add a PC game and nothing comes back, then I jump on image search and can usually find both boxes and clear logos. I might have to do a little photoshop editing in some cases, but for the most part there's usually something out there. For gameplay vids I sometimes get a trailer from YouTube if i can never find decent gameplay footage, which is hard sometimes since everyone wants to start from the menu screen and talk over the entire thing. Using the YouTube filter to narrow it down to under 2 minute video sometimes gets you a good vid like emumovies (no intro just solid quick gameplay). I have the video downloader plugin for Firefox which works great. Sometimes I will have to also manually add the key metadata that i like to have present when LB returns next to nothing. So yeah, it's really a manual process, but if you do each game as you add it, it doesn't seem as daunting as if you wait until you have a bunch to do. But if you already have it all imported then I guess it's just pecking away at it.
  10. I think you can just change what platform the game is associated with in the edit menu for it. Then it will show up in the one you changed it to.
  11. RL lets you do profiles by their database name entry. Or "per game" , or like you said earlier, per platform, so you won't run into it not loading the right one for things like retroarch. I haven't noticed much slowdown with mine, only the time I have set up for fade. Other than that it's snappy. I'd stick with that since you already have it working.
  12. oh interesting. I don't know where I'd put it then. i'd be tempted to keep it with the other mario kart arcade game, but that wouldn't technically be right.
  13. Isn't DX still triforce?
  14. I know I found a program a long time ago that compared your xml to the rom directory and copied them over to another directory. Rom2dir maybe? Something like that. I used it to delete all the crap like fruit machines and mahjong from my mame set and just leave it with what matched the hyperspin xml. Other than that, I think it's only making a playlist one by one.
  15. Yes absolutely great tool for some fun cosmetic things like the fade screens and bezels. The PAUSE menu is one of the top reasons I use it, especially for the savestate feature in there. Once you set up whatever key presses are used for the emulator to save and load (ahk) via the GUI or text file editing, you can just select the slot from the list and it sends those to the emulator for you. Much easier than trying to remember which key combo is the load and save for each emulator. the other biggest reason for me has been the ease of setting up joy2key profiles for my msdos games within the RLGUI. It opens joy2key, you edit your profile, save it, and then from that point RL will load that profile anytime that specific game is launched. And it's based off the name of the game in the database, so you can have game specific profiles, instead of only being able to launch one profile based off of when the EXE is started. if those features were to make their way into launchbox someday, then there would never be a reason for me to use it again. But for now it's really Nice to have. And like anything, once you spend a little time getting used to it, it really does become a breeze to upkeep and use from then on out.
  16. don't most neo geo games have the same or very similar button configurations? Like those 4 button cabs that had several different games to choose from? I guess maybe I don't know about any others lol.
  17. Can't you just remap your keyboard presses in the mame menu when inside a neo geo game? I know it might be tedious, but eventually they would all get done.
  18. I know exactly how you feel! I swore I'd never touch mame stuff again once I got done making an entire clear logo set. Once I saw these new bezels, now I have to jump back in and get those going. It's fun and a challenge at the same time
  19. Well give me a little time and I'll have them all changed. Already to the letter P. And I plan on keeping up with Orionsangel's releases because I love them. I'll be posting it all soon. But yeah the screen position may or may not be the big hassle. Sometimes you get lucky and the coordinates that come with it are good. Sometimes not. But I guess if someone takes the time to really dial that in 100% then those configs could be shared as well. I plan on getting to that point as well, but artwork stuff first there are some great packs for rocketlauncher, and that's be what I've used for the last few years or so. Metalzoics pack is a great compilation. I only recently switched to the built in mame bezel feature because that's what the realistic ones were being built for.
  20. The only thing wrong with the Merrit and Orion's realistic bezels are that they made the game screen area really dark , so the game ends up being really dark. I found someone's set that removed merrits screens, and that took others and made the opacity 80%. I am about halfway through Orion's set doing the 80% opacity. This will make the game screen area a bit lighter along with the rest of the artwork. But the fact that mame running full screen has black sides will bring the rest of the artwork back to being dark, and the game area shine brighter through that portion of the bezel. It's either that, or pen tool every single game screen area of those bezels. Its too bad they had to bake in the game screen area to be so dark, but that's the workaround. You will have to play a lot with some of the games horizontal and vertical stretch and position settings in the slider controls menu. But once you get those done for each game, boy does it look great!
  21. It looks like your adaptor will give you that though. Because it will make those pc controllers. Then launchbox will see them. The new classic versions that is.
  22. You know as far as using snes game pads, I got some super famicom game pads off eBay and the mayflash snes adapter. Works great. I ALso got all new rubber contact pads for the inside off eBay. Just a few screws and it's really easy to swap them out from the old sloppy rubber. Made it really snappy and the dpad has great contact again.
  23. Oh wow, interesting. I use Dfend reloaded through RL, so I've never had to try to do it through launchbox.
  24. Please let us know what happens with two player wireless and emulator mapping. I would love to know how that ends up working. Not knowing that is the only thing that has been keeping me from trying out wireless stuff like that. It would be useless to me if it lost all the mappings once the controllers were turned off from the mayflash unit.
  25. I have always wanted to try wireless things like that may flash one,. But I was always under the impression that once you turned say, player2 off, that it would not save the mapping you had in the emulator because of Windows crap that they can't keep track of controller ids
